CBSE Board Exams 2024: The Central Board for Secondary Education will conduct the annual practical exams, internal and project assessments for classes 10 and 12 from January 1, 2024. Before conducting the practical exams, the board has released a list of guidelines to be followed by the stakeholders, schools and students. View the detailed guidelines here.

Action by schools

  1. The schools ensure that the syllabus for practical exams is completed on time.
  2. The schools will ensure that necessary arrangements, such as preparing and stocking laboratories and identifying internal examiners, are carried out well in advance.
  3. The schools will ensure that all students and parents are aware of the date list of the practical exams so that they can take action at the end.
  4. The list of candidates (LOC) who will appear for the school’s practical examinations should be checked from the online system and it should be ensured that the correct subjects and category of students (i.e. regular/compartment/improvement) are displayed. in the online system.
  5. It can be ensured that sufficient practical answer books are received at the schools before the date on which the practical examinations are actually held.
  6. The marks for the practical examinations may only be awarded on the correct maximum marks for the practical part of the subject as stated in the grade split circular issued vide circular number CBSE/Coord/Marks distribution /E-58224/2023 dated 30.10. 2023
  7. If a shortcoming is noted in relation to any of the above points, the relevant regional office can be contacted.
  8. Practical examinations for Class XII are conducted only by the external examiners appointed by the board.

Action by students

  1. Students/parents must ensure that their fields of study are correctly reflected in the candidate list submitted by the schools.
  2. The students/parents must be aware of the syllabus and the subjects in which practical exams are held.
  3. The students have to appear for the practical exams as per the schedule as no second chance is provided by the board to appear for the practical exams.
  4. In case of problems or questions regarding any of the above points, the student concerned should contact his school.

Action by regional offices

  1. The regional offices should ensure that the guidelines for conducting practical exams are shared with the schools as soon as they are released by CBSE Hqrs.
  2. The regional offices should ensure that the practical exams are conducted by all schools within the notified schedule and that the marks are also uploaded.
  3. Regional offices should ensure that external examiners are appointed in all schools before the commencement of practical classroom and subject examinations.
  4. The regional offices ensure that the practical answer books are delivered to the school before the start of the practical exams.
