The TikTokker, who posts under the username 'kalanighost hunter', headed to The Market Cross in Holywell and opted to try the pub chain's iconic English breakfast.

But one culinary choice he made has disgusted Spoons fans.

The video received more than 50,000 likes and 3,000 comments.

Kalani's first thoughts when browsing the pub menu were the bargain prices on drinks. He said: “The drink prices are so cheap you could get hammered here in ten minutes.”

He also seemed quite impressed with the price of breakfast, which came to just £3.14 in this particular branch.

Included in the dish was an array of iconic breakfast items, including toast, sausage, bacon, eggs, hash browns and beans.

Before Kalani tries to eat, however, he pauses to pass judgment on a pancake his wife ordered, declaring that it “tastes like ass.”

Diving into full English, the American said: “This looks really good, especially for the price.”

He then started piling the beans on toast and took a bite.

What happened next one seems to have struck a chord with English breakfast connoisseurs.

Kalani squeezed a portion of HP sauce onto his plate before also squirting tomato ketchup over the food and “mashing” it all together with his knife and fork.

His TikTok followers flocked to the comments to express their outrage over the combination of sauces.

One wrote: “Mixing HP sauce and ketchup???? Straight to jail.”

Another exclaimed: “BRUDDER, mix the sauces!”

A third commented: “It seems like a Nice man, even though I've never mixed tomato and brown sauce before.”

A fourth said: “Nooo ketchup and HP should never be friends.”

While a fifth posted: “Ketchup AND HP is a violation but I love your content.”

And another wrote: “Nobody's talking about the fact he mixed sauces, no?”

“I wouldn't want brown and red sauce on the same plate either,” said one foodie.

While another was even more shocked by the sauces all over the plate, they said, “Aw man, you have to set the sauce aside for this!”

However, Kalani seemed to enjoy it, describing it as a “hearty meal” after a few bites.

He went on to say that he wished he had asked for crispy bacon, although fans did point out that Wetherspoons doesn't tend to accommodate cooking requirements for its food.

In his final conclusion, the visiting foodie said: “Okay, this is better than the one I had the other day, so now I'm looking for the best full English.

“If you have a recommendation, please let me know.

“But this one is better than the first one I had, and it's cheaper, and this one is meant to be one of the worst of you guys.”

Kalani added that the dish would taste “even better” if he had drunk before trying it.

In the video commentary, it wasn't just the combination of HP and Ketchup that viewers had trouble with.

Several people were quick to point out that the American had not buttered his toast before eating, an integral part for many guests.

Others shared their own recommendations on where the TikTokker should go next.

Some urged him to check out Toby Carvery's offer, while others said Wagamama would be a good shout.

Some also mentioned foods Kalani might try, like a fish stick or a baked potato with cheese and beans.

Earlier this week the social media star tried a steak bake, a sausage roll and a pink jammy donut from Greggs.

He stated: “I've already taken a bite of the steak bake, but it's quite tasty and if you look at the pastry, it's perfectly cooked.

'Probably one of the best pastries I've ever had.

“Really lame, I would honestly give it an eight out of ten.”

He also said the sausage roll was “really bloody tasty”, although he shocked some viewers by dipping it in a pot of curry sauce.

Earlier this week he also served butterfly chicken with garlic bread, fries and halloumi from Nando's.

He placed the items in the two slices of bread at the recommendation of fans.

Kalani nods happily before revealing that he thinks it's “burying KFC” and that it's “not even in the same ballpark.”

He's not the first TikTok star to rack up thousands of views by testing our iconic British dishes.

Last year you fell in love with most of our famous dishes, including crumpets, bacon and especially fish and chips – although Marmite was a no-no.

He was also pleasantly surprised when he tried his first roast dinner, at a Toby Carvery, despite thinking it was just food soaked in gravy, which didn't sound that tempting.

Elsewhere, the Scots stayed after one An American tourist was told to try Greggs on her very first trip to Glasgow.

She then recommended the popular bakery chain to her followers in the TikTok video, captioning it: “Listen Gregg knows what he's doing. Hello SCOTLAND!!!”
