Speaking to the The BBC's Laura KuenssbergEsther said, “If she ever wants to talk to me, I'm here.

“I also want her to know that I understand how difficult it is to be a parent in this day and age.

“With technology, phones and the internet, I know how difficult it is to actually monitor what your child is doing.”

Esther choked back tears after Kuenssberg asked her why she had previously said she felt like she had let Brianna down.

The mother said: “I am all Brianna had, I had to take care of her.

“I said about the issues she had and the struggles she had, it was hard as a parent to go through that with her as well.

“You can always look back and wish you had done things differently.

“If I had done things differently, this might not have happened.”

“She was always home, the house feels so empty without her.”

Esther is now calling on the government to ban social media for under-16s after Brianna's killers became obsessed with the dark web.

Scarlett Jenkinson watched videos of violence and torture before plotting Brianna's murder with Eddie Ratcliffe.

Brave Esther said: “We would like to see a law introduced so that there are mobile phones that are only suitable for young people under the age of 16.

“So if you're over 16, you can have an adult phone.

'But under the age of 16 you can have a children's phone, which does not have all the social media apps that are available now.

“And also to have software that automatically downloads onto the parents' phone and links to the children's phone, which can highlight keywords.

“So if a child searches for the kind of words that Scarlett and Eddie searched for, it will show up on the parent's phone.”

Esther said she believed “without a doubt” that Brianna would still be alive if the law had already been in effect.

She said: “They wouldn't have looked for that in the first place.

“And if they were to search it, the parents would know and be able to help them somehow.”

The brave mum also revealed that Brianna had viewed online material promoting anorexia and self-harm.

Esther said: “Brianna was very protective over the phone – it was the cause of a lot of arguments.

'I can imagine that this will also be the case in most households.

“If she had not been able to access the sites, she would not have suffered so much.”

'BRUTAL TRUTH'

It comes next Jenkinson's family said their “thoughts are with Brianna and her family.”.

They told the Warrington Guardian: “The past twelve months have gone beyond our worst nightmares as we have come to realize the brutal truth of Scarlett's actions.

“We agree with the jury's verdict, the judge's verdict and the decision to name the perpetrators.

“Our lives are in turmoil, but our immediate focus is to ensure we do nothing that conflicts with the wishes of Brianna's family.”

“We express our sincere gratitude to Esther Ghey for her incredible selflessness and empathy for our family.

“Her compassion is overwhelming and we are forever grateful.

“To all of Brianna's family and friends, our community and everyone else affected by this horror, we are truly sorry.”

'TEMPER TANTRUM'

Jenkinson and Ratcliffe were named by a judge as the pair were given life sentences for murder on Friday.

The teens were only fifteen years old when they hatched a gruesome plan stabbed the helpless Brianna 28 times with a knife.

The 16-year-old schoolgirl was lured to Linear Park Warringtonin February last year by the sadistic couple – who are now both 16.

Briannawho was transgender, didn't stand a chance against the 'savage' attack and was sadly found dead in the park by a dog walker.

Jenkinsonwhose parents were both teachers, had been expelled from Culceth High School due to a drug incident.

She befriended Ratcliffe, who had a crush on one of her friends, and the pair began messaging each other.

But their innocent conversations soon turned deadly as they became “preoccupied with violence, torture and death.”

Manchester Crown Court was told the pair “encouraged each other to think about how they would actually commit murder”.

This culminated in a “death list” of five people they wanted to kill before finally settling on the tragic Brianna.

Jenkinson had become 'obsessed' with the teenager and hatched a plot to kill her using drugs.

'PURE HORROR'

Just 19 days before Brianna was slaughtered, the girl messaged her accomplice to let him know the grim plan had been executed.

She said she believed she gave Brianna [painkillers] that “should have been enough to kill her”.

When the schoolgirl fell ill but did not die, the evil couple decided to take a more gruesome method to kill Brianna.

In a note titled 'Saturday February 11, 2023. Victim: Brianna Ghey' – the day she was murdered – Jenkinson outlined her plans.

The teen wrote: “Meet [Ratcliffe] at wooden posts 1 p.m. Walk to the library… bus stop. Wait until Brianna gets off the bus and then the three of us walk to Linear Park. Go to the pipe/tunnel area.

'I say code word against [Ratcliffe]. He stabs her in the back while I stab her in the stomach. [Ratcliffe] drags the body to the area. We both cover the area with logs etc.”.

They originally planned to meet Brianna on January 28, but Ratcliffe said he wouldn't be able to commit the murder on a “school night”.

Fueled by her bloodlust, Jenkinson replied: “I don't want to wait, I just want her to die. I want to see pure horror on her face and hear her scream in pain.”

The boy replied, “Really? All I wanted to see was what size dick he had.”

In another post, Jenkinson said: “I really want one of his eyes. They have beautiful eyes.”

'ANXIOUS'

She also wrote, “I want to stab her at least once even if she's dead just because it's fun lol.”

After choosing a date, Jenkinson agreed watch her “favorite” movieSweeney Todd, for the “9,000th time”.

The next morning, unknowingly Brianna left her house Unpleasant meets her killers in the park.

The schoolgirl was captured on CCTV boarding a bus from nearby Birchwood Station to Culcheth Library.

While she was on the bus, Brianna messaged her mother Esther Gray to tell her she was on her way to meet Jenkinson and was “scared”.

Esther said that thanks to her, her daughter often stayed home on weekends tension.

In response to her adventure, she had replied, “That's good.”

Brianna met her killers at the bus stop before the trio entered an alleyway to the park at 2:02 p.m.

Just over an hour later, Brianna was found covered in blood and face down in the mud by a dog walker.

Brianna suffered 'insurmountable' injuries including catastrophic blood loss after being stabbed in the back and chest.

Jenkinson and Ratcliffe had entered Brianna's throat and lungs with the knife.

'FALSE' SMS MESSAGE

One stab wound reached a depth of 11cm and cut through the teen's heart.

Brianna also had 'defensive wounds' on her arms and hands where she desperately tried to fend off her attackers.

The court was told that “many” of the stab wounds damaged her bones and would require “significant force”.

Prosecutor Deanna Heer KC said there was “no doubt that she was the victim of a sustained and violent attack”.

After the murder, Jenkinson came up with a “false defense” to cover their tracks in case someone looked at her phone.

She messaged Brianna and said, “Girl, are you okay? A teenage girl was murdered in Linear Park, it's all over the news.

'And why did you dump us for some random guy from Manchester. Like wtf. That's so damned.'

This mysterious 17-year-old boy was simply a fictional invention of Jenkinson and Ratcliffe, with the teenage girl telling him to “Make sure the story makes sense”.

PLAN TO KILL

She also shared a Snapchat tribute to Brianna and said, “Brianna was one of the best people I have ever met, such a wonderful friend.

“It's fucking sickening what was done to her.”

But her plan then unraveled Police found an unopened bottle of Dr Pepper and an empty bottle of Coke near the scene that matched the couple's DNA.

Brianna's blood was also discovered on a £13.50 hunting knife the boy had bought on a hunting knife to ski vacation six weeks before the murder.

When officers raided Jenkinson's home, they found another note with a “plan to kill.”

This said: “Cut the throat, cut the body into pieces, put the pieces in garbage bags, bury the bags more than two meters underground.”

The police also found notes about it serial killersincluded Jeffrey DahmerRichard Ramirez and Harold Schipman.

It was suggested during the trial that Jenkinson had used Ratcliffe as her 'hit man' – referring to the boy as a 'hit man'.Tesco John Wick”.

'TOGETHER IN IT'

Both teens tried to blame each other for the murder, both claiming that their backs were turned when the fatal blows were delivered.

But Ms Heer said the evidence showed they were “in it together”.

Tragically, no motive for the murder has been given – with the lead investigator saying both had a “thirst for murder”.

Detective Chief Inspector Mike Evans, head of crime at Cheshire Police, also previously expressed fears they could have struck again if they had not been caught.
