Real Life Weight Loss Story: How Huda Bushra Lost 20 Kgs With Chicken Biryani and Gulab Jamun

Real-life weight loss story: Everyone’s weight loss journey is different. Each person has a unique reason for embarking on this new chapter, which requires both physical and mental commitment, along with an inspiring story to tell. Karan Dureja has a similar story, one that many people can relate to. She said: ‘It was my sister’s engagement. I wore a very expensive dress and thought I looked so beautiful. However, when I saw my photos after the function, I realized that I needed to work on my body. I decided I needed to get in shape until my sister’s wedding. To be honest, I didn’t get into shape until my sister’s wedding. But since then I decided to take care of myself. So India.com got into an exclusive chat with Huda Bushra to track his fitness journey.

Here is Huda Bushra’s inspiring weight loss story and how he lost 20 kg in 12.5 months by including chicken biryani in his diet.

How much have you lost in how many days?

I have lost about 20 kilos in 1.5 years.

What was your weight loss diet and routine?

I did not follow a specific diet, but ate normal home-cooked meals with proteins such as chicken, eggs and lentils. I prioritized drinking water because it helps burn fat. I practiced regularly, although there were the occasional missed sessions or cheats. I lost 30 pounds by doing at-home workouts, including 15,000 steps daily and specific exercises from the YouTube channel Chloe Ting. Later, in July 2023, I went to the gym to make further progress.

Have you quit sugar completely?

I loved sweet things, but to lose weight I had to cut them out. I started drinking coffee or tea without sugar. Every now and then I would eat chocolate or gulab jamun to make myself happy.

Have you had any cheat meals?

Yes, usually on weekends. My favorite cheat meal was a full plate of chicken biryani with fried chicken and raita.

What’s one rule you should follow if you want to lose weight?

Consistency is key. I often received comments that made me doubt my ability to maintain the weight loss, but I know staying consistent is key

What was one thing that worked best for you?

I walked 15,000 steps daily, followed by intermittent fasting. Ultimately, I realized that portion control is more effective than intermittent fasting. One habit that will change my life is not refilling my plate.

One challenge you faced and how did you overcome it?

Self-motivation was a challenge. When my weight didn’t go down after losing a few kilos, I felt like giving up. But what I did was stand in front of the mirror for ten minutes, reminding myself that I deserved better, and putting in extra effort to lose stubborn fat.

Is there a weight loss myth you should know about on your journey?

The myth that eating less and doing more cardio helps you lose weight is not entirely true. Eating right and incorporating strength training is important; Doing cardio alone can lead to weight gain over a period of time.
