Canadian socialite Jessica Mulroney, who was once Meghan Markle’s best friend, is celebrating a rather somber 44th birthday today.

Her father-in-law, former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, recently passed away.

Mr. Mulroney, the former leader of the Progressive Conservative Party who served as Prime Minister of Canada from 1984 to 1993, died on February 29 at the age of 84 and will lie in state in Ottawa before his funeral in Montreal on Saturday, March 23.

Jessica, mother of three children and married to Ben, the statesman’s son, will undoubtedly keep a low profile during the official mourning period.

If so, it will be in line with recent years, and especially since an unfortunate white privilege row. After which Meghan would have cut her adrift.

The two women were once inseparable after developing a close friendship around 2011, while the actress was living in Toronto working on the hit legal drama Suits.

They were at the center of Canada’s social scene, often spotted dining out – complete with obligatory Instagram posts – and often arriving together at glamorous society events.

In Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand’s 2020 book Finding Freedom, the authors write that Jessica and her husband Ben were the “hottest young power couple” in town.

They explain: ‘After the women were introduced by a local fashion publicist, Jessica not only encouraged Meghan to follow the same path, but also introduced her to an exciting, vibrant social scene full of high-profile charity events, the opening of new hotspots, fantastic restaurants and chic friends like Michael Bublé.

“Jessica and Ben were close friends with the Canadian singer-songwriter and his wife, Argentine-born actress-model Luisana Lopilato, whose intimate parties at their home in Vancouver were a coveted invitation.”

The two BFFs even spent a “month of wanderlust” in Europe in the summer of 2016, and when Meghan and Prince Harry first started their relationship, the Mulroneys offered the loved-up couple a refuge from nosy paparazzi in their home in a chic suburb. of Toronto.

In fact, they were so close that Jessica, a fashion stylist and marketing consultant, was the first person Meghan told after Prince Harry proposed on the grounds of Kensington Palace.

In the suspenseful Sussex Netflix docuseries ‘Harry and Meghan’, the Duchess is seen making the transatlantic FaceTimie call to Jessica to break the news that ‘it’s happening’.

In addition to attending Meghan’s lavish baby shower in New York in 2019, she played such an integral role in the planning of the royal wedding that she arrived at St George’s Chapel Windsor with the Princess of Wales and her children acted as page boys and bridesmaids.

She even accompanied the couple on their royal tour of Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and Tonga and is also said to have played an “influential” role in Megxit – the couple’s momentous decision to give up their royal duties and privileges and move to California to leave.

Even in early 2020, Jessica spoke out in support of Prince Harry and Meghan amid the furore surrounding their move to America, posting on her Instagram account: ‘A strong woman looks a challenge in the eye and gives it a wink. ‘

It’s not hard to suggest why the two friends seemed so perfectly matched. Jessica brought with her the old money connections and social cachet that comes from being part of one of Canada’s most prominent families.

Aside from the Mulroney connection, she’s an heiress in her own right.

Born Jessica Bownstein, she is a great-granddaughter of Benjamin Brownstein, the founder of Brown’s Shoes, a retailer prominent on every high street in Canada and known for its philanthropic work – the company gives 10 percent of its profits to charity goal.

Her brother John is a professor of epidemiology at Harvard Medical School.

Meghan, meanwhile, was the hottest celebrity in town while “Suits” was showing and her Hollywood stardust undoubtedly boosted Jessica’s profile, leading to TV appearances on “Good Morning America” and the Canadian talk show CityLine and a spot as host of the reality show TV program ‘I Do, Redo’ in which couples whose wedding had failed were given the opportunity to experience another special day.

But in recent years, rumors of a rift between the two women have swirled, fueled by indirect references on Jessica’s social media accounts.

The schism appears to date back to 2020, when Jessica became involved in an inappropriate argument with lifestyle blogger Sasha Exeter, who criticized her for “taking offense” to a “generic call to action” post Sasha had shared about the Black Lives Matter movement. .

Sasha Exeter said at the time: ‘I am by no means calling Jess a racist, but what I am saying is this: she is very aware of her wealth, perceived power and privilege because of the color of her skin and that, my friends, gave her in writing the temporary confidence to earn my living. A textbook example of white privilege, in my personal opinion.’

Despite making a number of public apologies, including posting the statement: “As some may have seen, Sasha Exeter and I had a disagreement. She rightly called me out for not doing enough when it came to starting the important and difficult conversation about race and injustice in our society. I took it personally and that was wrong. I know I have to do better. Those of us who have a platform should use it to speak out.”

She also wrote, commenting on a video clip shared by Sasha, that she is “unequivocally sorry,” adding, “As I told you privately, I went through a very public and personal experience with my best friend that centered race was standing. It was very educational.’

That statement was reportedly seen by Meghan as an exploitation of their friendship.

The feud had a huge impact on Jessica’s professional career, causing her to be dropped by a number of television networks.

ABC confirmed that Jessica would not return to her occasional role as a fashion contributor on Good Morning America. And Canadian network CTV also cut ties, revealing it would be pulling all episodes of its wedding-themed reality TV show I Do Redo from its platform.

Jessica also stepped down from the board of directors of The Shoebox Project, the charity she co-founded a decade ago to “provide gifts to women living in shelters or accessing community support,” according to public records.

Meghan Markle has become somewhat famous for dumping friends… Jessica MulroneyDavid and Victoria Beckham and her Suits co-stars to name a few.

The Duchess of Sussex’s name has even been used in the Urban Dictionary – an online lexicon of slang – to describe ‘abandoning someone or something after they have contributed to your life in a meaningful way’, calling the action cruel labeled as ‘Markled’.

The most famous ‘Markled’ is her father Thomas, 79, after he sold paparazzi photos of himself preparing for his daughter’s wedding.

Even stylist Jessica Mulroney, Meghan’s former ‘Best Friend Forever’, whose children were in the Sussexes’ wedding party, has fallen by the wayside.

Since Jessica became embroiled in a racist feud with a social media influencer in 2020, she has not been photographed in public with Meghan.

But she’s not the only best friend to have fallen out with the Duchess of Sussex; Prince Harry’s wife and her childhood best friend Ninaki Priddy reportedly fell out over Meghan’s treatment of her first husband Trevor Engelson.

Prince Harry’s wife and her childhood best friend Ninaki Priddy – who was the Duchess’s maid of honor at her first wedding (pictured) – reportedly fell out over Meghan’s treatment of her first husband Trevor Engelson

Ninaki was a bridesmaid at Meghan’s first wedding in 2011 in Jamaica, and the two were inseparable from their first days in Hollywood’s private Little Red School House, when they were two years old.

They then moved on together at the age of 11 to Immaculate Heart all-girls school in Los Angeles, where their extraordinary sisterly bond ultimately lasted 31 years.

But the couple decided to go their separate ways after Ninaki disapproved of the way Meghan split with Trevor.

The Duchess reportedly started dating dashing celebrity chef Cory Vitiello, who also lives in Toronto, in 2014, a few months after her divorce from Trevor.

“I tried to get details from her, but she wouldn’t tell me,” Ninaki told The Daily Mail in 2017. “What came to light after Trevor and I spoke ended my friendship with Meghan. I think everyone who knew them both was in shock.”

Ninaki explained how she spoke to Trevor a month after the divorce in 2013, insisting he would have ‘walked the earth to make their marriage work’.

Meghan was based in Toronto filming the hit US legal drama Suits, while film producer Trevor lived in LA during their marriage.

‘I don’t think she gave him enough chances. “I think there was an element of ‘out of sight, out of mind’ for Meghan,” Ninaki said.

“The way she handled it, Trevor definitely had the rug pulled out from under him. He was injured.’

Ninaki talked about how there was ‘Meghan Before Fame and Meghan After Fame’, with the then actress ‘turning down lunch with us because she said she would be recognised’ after just two seasons of Suits.

She said, “Maybe she had started to change before, but I refused to see it. The tone of her voice, her mannerisms, the way she laughed no longer seemed real to me.

‘…I felt like if I questioned her behavior I would be left out. Sometimes the truth isn’t always what you want, right?

‘Her time became more and more important. If she was in town, she would want you to drop everything to see her. If I was busy it would be, ‘Why don’t you want to see me? I’m here. Let chill!”

“There were instances where I felt like she was given a sense of entitlement by being on the show.”

She explained how the duo started talking less and less to each other – and after her conversation with Trevor about the divorce, Ninaki tried to talk to Meghan, but she “wouldn’t confide in me.”

‘It was clear to me that she was no longer the friend I grew up with. She had a new circle of friends.”

Ninaki added: “All I can say now is that I think Meghan was calculated – very calculated – in the way she dealt with people and relationships.

“She’s very strategic in the way she cultivates circles of friends. Once she decides that you are not part of her life, she can be very cold. It’s this closure mechanism that she has. There is nothing to negotiate. She made her decision and that’s it.’

Ninaki recalled her close friendship with the Duchess, saying it was “always Niki and Meg.” We were so close that we came as two.”

She added: “We were both daughters of honor in each other’s house. We were like family. We had the kind of love you have for a sister. The end of our friendship was like death.

‘I mourned it for a long time. Even now I pass a magazine stand and see a face staring back at me that was such a big part of my life.”

Another of Meghan’s former BFFs is Canadian stylist Jessica Mulroney, 43, who met the Duchess of Sussex, 42, on the set of Suits in Toronto.

After Meghan met Prince Harry and moved to Britain, the couple remained extremely close.

However, their friendship appeared to cool in 2020 when Jessica became embroiled in a social media firestorm in which she was accused of demonstrating “white privilege” in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement – and they haven’t been seen together since.

Lifestyle blogger Sasha Exeter called out Jessica Mulroney, who “took offense” to a “generic call to action” post Sasha shared about the Black Lives Matter movement.

In a follow-up video, Sasha said: ‘What happened next was a series of very problematic behavior and antics […]

“I am by no means calling Jess a racist, but what I will say is this: she is very aware of her wealth, perceived power and privilege because of the color of her skin and that, my friends, temporarily gave her confidence. to provide for my living in writing. A textbook example of white privilege, in my personal opinion.’

Following the blogger’s claims, Jessica issued three public apologies, but she still faced repercussions and was abandoned by numerous television networks.

DailyMail.com exclusively revealed that ABC had cut ties with her, confirming that Jessica would not return to her occasional role as a fashion contributor on Good Morning America.

Canadian TV network CTV also cut ties with the stylist, revealing it would be pulling all episodes of her wedding-themed reality TV show I Do Redo from its platform.

Despite their close relationship, insiders claimed the Duchess had permanently cut ties with Jessica after becoming embroiled in a racing feud with the influencer.

An insider told Page Six that the duo’s relationship was already on the rocks because Meghan felt like Jessica was “trying to turn the friendship into a career.”

“The white privilege row has really given Meghan the excuse she was waiting for to cut Jess off for good,” the source said. “I don’t know what the turning point was, but Jess has been on the run for a while.”

In September 2020, Jessica addressed the rumors of a rift between her and the Duchess of Sussex.

She wrote on her Instagram Stories: ‘I’m going to tell this once and for all. Meghan and I are family. She is the nicest friend and comes to see me every day.’

Six months later, Jessica shared a photo to an Instagram Story of the flowers she received from Meghan on her 41st birthday, writing, “LUCKIEST FRIEND XXXX, THX MM.”

However, the following year it became increasingly clear to fans that the friendship between Meghan and Jessica had soured.

In June 2021, the mother of three posted a cryptic quote to her Instagram Story, saying, “Life changes. You lose love. You lose friends. You lose pieces of yourself that you never thought would be gone.

‘And then, without even realizing it, those pieces come back. New love comes in. Better friends will come. And a stronger, wiser you stares back into the mirror.”

The following year, Jessica posted a photo of a sign that read, “You’re not too sensitive. You’re not overreacting. If it hurts you, it hurts you.”

She captioned the post: “I wish I would have seen this a long time ago. I hope it makes a difference in your day too.’

Since then, Jessica has continued to post cryptic messages on social media, including one in which she told her followers that she is “detachment strong.”

Meghan Markle’s former BFF has found a new friend to join her as they paint the town red: her nine-year-old daughter Ivy.

The Canadian stylist, 43, who met the Duchess of Sussex, 42, on the set of Suits in Toronto, could once be photographed visiting Canada’s nightlife with her best friend by her side.

After Meghan met Prince Harry and moved to Britain, the couple remained extremely close, with Ivy even serving as a bridesmaid at the Duke and Duchess’s wedding in Windsor in 2018.

However, their friendship appeared to cool in 2020 when Jessica became embroiled in a social media firestorm in which she was accused of demonstrating “white privilege” in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement – and they haven’t been seen together since.

Despite rumors of a rift between the former best friends, Jessica appears to have moved on as she posted an adorable video to Instagram of herself and Ivy in a taxi heading home after enjoying a ‘girls night out’ together.

The short clip shows the couple giggling together as Ivy shouts: “Girls’ night out!” It then cuts to another clip of mother and daughter in a restaurant ordering steak frites.

Jessica posted the movie to her Instagram grid on Tuesday, writing, “Do you ever want to hit pause in time? My nights out with Ivy always make me realize that I am the happiest person in the world and that everything else is just noise.’

Meghan previously opened up about Jessica on her now-defunct lifestyle blog The Tig – and made particular mention of her presence when she goes out.

In a resurfaced post from December 2015, the duchess said that “the room stops” when her friend “shows up at an event.”

The couple, who met on the set of Suits where Jessica worked as a stylist, were once regular partygoers and frequented Toronto's nightlife.

She added that she asked her stylist friend for advice on “what to wear for Christmas parties and soirees in New York” – many of which they attended together.

Jessica and her former friend Meghan appeared to fall out as the stylist came under scrutiny following the 2020 killing of George Floyd, which sparked the Black Lives Matter movement.

‘She is the nicest friend and comes to see me every day.’

Six months later, Jessica shared a photo to an Instagram Story of the flowers she received from Markle on her 41st birthday, writing, “LUCKIEST FRIEND XXXX, THX MM.”

The co-founder of a Black Lives Matter chapter has labeled Taylor Swift fans “racists” and referred to Kansas City’s Super Bowl victory as a “right-wing white supremacist conspiracy” in a series of social media posts.

Melina Abdullah, 51, a professor of Pan-African studies at Cal State University in Los Angeles, took to X, formerly Twitter, to express her thoughts on the pop singer and her gym boyfriend over the course of two weeks.

“Why do I feel like it’s a little racist to be a Taylor Swift fan?” Abdullah wrote on February 11, the day of the Super Bowl.

“I said FEEL, not think,” she continued when another user asked her to elaborate. “Kinda that feeling I get when there are too many American flags.”

Hours later, after the Kansas City Chiefs were declared the winners, Abdullah wrote, “Why do I feel like this was a right-wing, white-supremacist conspiracy?!?! Booooo!!!!’

As her posts caught the attention of other users, Abdullah doubled down on her stance. “People think they’re attacking me by asking why I think everything is racist… I’m not offended,” she wrote. “Almost everything is racist.”

In response to a commenter, the lawyer clarified: “And I have also decided to work with all my might and in a community of committed people to fight racism and oppression.”

On February 23, Abdullah returned to social media to post a voice message from a man who labeled her “a joke,” “ignorant” and “what is wrong with this country.”

“How dare you throw away the racist ideas you throw out every day?” shouted the man, who identified himself as Ethan George of Texas, before proclaiming that he wished she would “die.”

“If this is what a tweet about Taylor Swift fans being ‘slightly racist’ brings up, I’ll edit myself…Y’all are full-fledged violent white delusions,” Abdullah wrote.

The 51-year-old is also co-director of BLM advocacy group Black Lives Matter Grassroots.

She sued the Los Angeles Police Department in 2020 after they did so descended on her home during a reported swatting incident.

On August 19, 2020, the LAPD received a 911 call from someone claiming to have been holding people hostage at Abdullah’s home in Crenshaw.

The 51-year-old sued the Los Angeles Police Department in 2020 after they raided her home during a reported swatting incident, accusing them of “retaliation” for her efforts to promote her interests.

In court documents filed in California Superior Court, the mother of three said she feared LAPD SWAT officers would fire their weapons at her home and hurt her children.

She accused the LAPD of failing to contact her beforehand despite giving her that contact information, and claimed the department organized the incident as ‘retaliation’ for her activism.

She added that police did not really believe the claims of an ongoing hostage situation.

As evidence, Abdullah cited an example where police had their guard, who the officer did not know, go through a perimeter and enter the house as they walked around it.

Two neighbors were also allowed to enter the house to check on her and walk next to her as she walked outside to talk to officers, the lawsuit alleged.

Abdullah viewed the response as “an attempt to quash the protest, to brand me as someone who has been very visible and vocal in protesting the LAPD.”

She was beaten twice more after the trial was announced.

In a separate legal battle, Abdullah and BLM accused Grassroots Black Lives Matters Global Network Foundation Inc. of collecting donations from the work of city chapters and then disregarding activists in decision-making.

BLM Grassroots consists of 20 BLM chapters across the country, which argued they were entitled to tens of millions of dollars from the national foundation.

However, the case was dismissed last year by a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge after the activists were unable to prove that it was entitled to the money, among other unsubstantiated claims.

Abdullah said the group was “stunned and dismayed” by the court’s dismissal order.

“As always, the work of Black Lives Matter will continue regardless of the court’s ruling,” she promised in a statement.

When Meghan Markle married into the Royal Family in 2018, Canadian stylist Jessica Mulroney undoubtedly appeared to be one of the most important people in the Duchess’ life.

The mother-of-three, 43, from Toronto, played such an integral role in the wedding that she arrived at the St George’s Chapel in Windsor alongside the Princess of Wales and her children even acted as pageboys and bridesmaid.

In Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s bombshell Netflix docu-series, the Duchess of Sussex is seen FaceTiming Jessica moments before Prince Harry proposed in the grounds of Kensington Gardens to inform her BFF that ‘it’s happening’.

As well as attending Meghan Markle’s lavish New York baby shower in 2019, Jessica – who is married to Ben Mulroney, son of the former Canadian PM – joined the couple on their royal tour of Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and Tonga and is also said to have played an ‘influential’ role in Megxit.

Over the past few years, rumours of a rift between the two women have been swirling – as the Duchess appeared to distance herself from her former BFF after Jessica was caught up in a ‘white privilege’ race row in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Although Jessica has not recently commented on her apparent falling out with the Duchess of Sussex, she has hinted about their friendship break-up on her Instagram on several occasions.

In recent months, the stylist has also suggested that she is preparing to return to TV in a bid to ‘uncancel’ herself.

As Jessica tries to rescue her career, here FEMAIL reveals how the stylist – who first met Meghan on the set of Suits – has adapted to life after Meghan Markle.

Denying Friendship Break-Up

At the beginning of 2020, Jessica was vocal in her support of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle following Megxit.

The Canadian stylist posted a defiant quote on her Instagram account, saying: ”A strong woman looks a challenge in the eye and gives it a wink.’

Months later, the two women were said to become distant when lifestyle blogger Sasha Exeter called out Jessica Mulroney – who ‘took offence’ to a ‘generic call to action’ post Sasha had shared about the Black Lives Matter movement.

In a follow-up video, Sasha said: ‘What happened next was a series of very problematic behaviour and antics […]

Following the blogger’s claims, Jessica issued three public apologies, however she still faced consequences and was dropped by numerous television networks.

DailyMail.com exclusively revealed that ABC severed ties with her, confirming that Jessica would not be returning to her occasional role as a fashion contributor on Good Morning America.

Canadian TV network CTV also cut off ties with the stylist, revealing that it would be pulling all episodes of her wedding-themed reality TV show I Do Redo from its platform.

In one instance, commenting on a video clip shared by Sasha, Jessica said she was ‘unequivocally sorry’, writing: ‘As I told you privately, I have lived a very public and personal experience with my closest friend where race was front and centre. It was deeply educational.’

Despite their close relationship, insiders claimed that the Duchess had permanently cut ties with Jessica after she became embroiled in a race row with the influencer.

An insider told Page Six that the duo’s relationship was already on the rocks because Meghan felt that Jessica was trying to ‘make a career out of the friendship.’

In September 2020, Jessica addressed the rumours of rift between her and the Duchess of Sussex.

She wrote on her Instagram Stories: ‘I’m going to tell this once and for all. Meghan and I are family.

‘She is the kindest friend and has checked up on me everyday.’

Six months later, Jessica shared a pic in an Instagram Story of the flowers she received from Markle on her 41st birthday, on which she wrote: ‘LUCKIEST FRIEND XXXX, THX MM.’

Subtle jabs at Meghan

The following year, it became increasingly evident that Meghan and Jessica’s friendship had soured.

In June 2021, the mother-of-three posted a cryptic quote on her Instagram Story, which read: ‘Life changes. You lose love. You lose friends. You lose pieces of yourself that you never imagined would be gone.

‘And then, without even realizing it, those pieces come back. New love enters. Better friends come along. And a stronger, wiser you, is staring back in the mirror.’

In August 2021, Jessica told her followers: ‘It can be lonely having the world, friends distance from you and not even ask how you are. But, thankfully, you find the things that truly matter….’

Last July, Jessica and her family travelled to Italy – where she once visited with Meghan during the Duchess’ ‘single girl summer’ in 2016.

In a video montage of the trip, Jessica could be seen walking around the Antinori winery – where Meghan’s favourite wine Tignanello is made.

Lost fashion deals

Before the race row erupted, Jessica Mulroney was a contributor on Good Morning America and Canada’s Cityline – where she worked as a stylist.

She also hosted her own wedding-themed series called I Do, Redo – where couples whose weddings had gone awry were given the chance to have another special day.

However, these regular television presenting jobs were collateral damage following the Sasha Exeter fall-out.

Jessica also also stepped down from the board of directors of The Shoebox Project, the charity she co-founded a decade ago to ‘provide gifts to women living in shelters or accessing community support,’ according to public records.

‘In light of recent events, the charity supports Jessica’s decision to step away from the Board of Directors,’ read a statement from the organization at the time.

After growing distant from Meghan Markle, Jessica’s fashion partnerships also appear to dry up for a time.

After years of working with high-end designers, the mother partnered up with Canadian high street label Aritizia.

She has also secured deals with the online retailers Revolve and Fwrd.

‘January was the busiest yet most fulfilling month I’ve had in many years,’ Jessica told her followers earlier this month when she shared video highlights of a trip to Los Angeles where she was ‘working with and styling some of the most wonderful people and events.’

Clawing back connections

After stepping back from The Shoebox Project in 2020, Jessica appears to have worked her way back into the charity’s good books.

In November 2023, she attended the fundraising party with her daughter Ivy.

Posting from the event, she wrote: ‘Every year I am in awe of your generosity and support. What a night raising over 25k for women impacted by homelessness.’

Although she didn’t attend the event, the mother-of-three plugged the 2023 Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards on Instagram.

She wrote: ‘‘There is so much talent in this country and I thank you for always making me feel beautiful in your designs. Good luck tonight.

‘Despite everything going on in the world, it is still important to celebrate our own.’

Public relations expert Vince Ciarlo of Toronto-based Ciarlo Communications says he believes it’s only right that Jessica should be ‘back on the scene.’

He told Femail: ‘Enough time has passed, and the world has changed since she was shamed. Like a true professional, she followed the playbook on the “Art of the Apology.”

‘She apologized, kept out of the limelight and rebuilt her brand and reputation and now deserves the respect and attention to share her expertise on creativity.’

Jessica took a two-month break from social media – but six months after the scandal, she shared DMs and text messages between herself and Exeter that the National Post’s columnist Barbara Kay called ‘a complete exoneration of Jessica from all the false allegations of racist bullying.’

Kay concluded that Jessica ‘is innocent of the moral crimes she has been so unjustly charged with.

She added: ‘She did not deserve the reflexive shunning the accusations called forth. But she has no wish for revenge. She wants only to resume the profession she loves with honour and dignity.’

In July, she shared ‘a little a preview’ of a photoshoot she did in Italy with her Instagram followers.

She captioned the post: ‘Makeup and fancy free. Can’t wait to share the entire piece.’ In response to two comments asking if the shoot was for Vogue, Jessica didn’t shut down the suggestion and answered with heart emojis.

Not long after, in a post she later deleted, Jessica captioned a carousel of photos with the hashtags ‘#Vogue #Italy #FashionSpread.’

What’s more, Jessica also teased a potential I Do, Redo comeback last summer.

She wrote on Instagram: ‘If anyone knows me or what I love to do, it involves surprising brides and grooms with the wedding of their dreams. Finally, Im getting back into the game.

‘Coming to a screen near you.’

Gen-Zers are coming forward with stories of dating hardships caused by the intense and growing political divide between men and women in their generation.

In one piece for the Free press, Gen-Z journalist Rikki Schlott shares stories of her colleagues trying to break into the dating pool, which is full of highly politicized and highly online candidates.

Schlott spoke to a 25-year-old college student in Washington, D.C., who told her that he was a traditional conservative completely masks his political identity before and during dates with his contemporaries.

“You just have to assume that most girls are progressive and constantly make sure you don't say the wrong thing,” he said.

“On first dates, I'm usually just trying to gauge where they're coming from while glossing over my views.”

A collected sample of some of the political views posted by young, cosmopolitan women on dating apps

Numerous reports lately illustrate the widening political divide between the genders of Gen-Z.

Young women are liberal and moving further to the left every day. While young men have emerged as sharply conservative over the past five years, a pattern that has been developing for at least a decade.

Data shows that women in particular often refuse to date across party lines, creating a dynamic that could ultimately lead to demographic collapse.

The majority of young American women (about 55 percent) say they wouldn't date a man who listens to Joe Rogan's incredibly popular podcast.

On the other side of the equation, 64 percent of young men think identifying as a communist is a red flag.

Saying 'Black Lives Matter' also proved to be a turn-off for a third of young men, while almost two-thirds of young men say supporting 'Black Lives Matter' is a green flag.

American politics is not the only thing that influences the dating lives of young people.

In England, Germany and especially South Korea, men take a sharp turn to the right, while women stay to the left.

In South Korea, in response to what they see as a sexist society that is not conducive to women's development, women have stopped having children.

In what's been called the “4B movement,” women are refusing to marry, date, have children, and have heterosexual sex. The birth rate has fallen to a dismal 0.78 births per woman.

Schlott writes that modern app dating has anecdotally become a coded exercise for men, and an exhibitionist display of progressivism for women.

Young men, she says, label themselves as “moderate” if they are conservative, and “liberal” if they are moderate.

One such case told her that he pretends 'he's awake' because 'a man' has to have sex.'

The 25-year-old student said, “It's a death wish to say you're a conservative.”

Women, on the other hand, project their politics openly and radically.

“I'm strangely attracted to: comrades,” one woman wrote on a popular dating app.

'My love language is: Marxist political theory.'

'Let's make sure we're on the same page about: Covid is real. Land back. Mask and vax. LGBTQIA2+. Anti-capitalism. BLM. ANTIFA. Universal basic income/health care. Trans rights. Socialism. ACAB. (Palestinian flag emoji),” reads a particularly progressive, but not particularly unique, profile of a young woman in Brooklyn, according to Schlott.

The hope for Gen-Zers would be that as they grow older, they will move toward the political center so that the U.S. birth rate doesn't drop to South Korean levels.

SERIOUS action must be taken against misguided football match spectators who attack players with racist comments.

Supporters? These individuals are not supporting anything.
They are sad, sick people and we must do whatever it takes to keep them out of our stadiums.

I would support almost any sanction to prevent this, but I do have concerns about the method proposed by FIFA president Gianni Infantino, which sets the stage for points to be deducted from any club whose fans brandish racist insults.

Maybe not a sledgehammer, but certainly a toxic substance. It is dangerous to play with reduction points.

Nottingham Forest and Everton are facing similar actions (again) and Manchester City could do so too if authorities finally take action to follow up on what are reportedly more than a hundred cases of mysterious something-or-other crimes.

Points deduction affects the structure of our football.
To remove them from the clubs for any reason other than putting the ball in the net is to cut down the goalposts and replace them with administrators.

As a country, Britain has made significant progress towards equality for all races and genders.

But all kinds of despicable racist behavior still exists.

Take the case of one man, who watched three of England's black players miss shootout penalties in the 2021 Euro finals. He then sent them vile racist insults on his Facebook account.

He was given a suspended sentence and ordered to pay £100 compensation – ridiculous considering his crime would have had a huge impact on the trio representing their country to the world and on their mental health.

Also think of Nazi signals from the terraces or the cheering that follows racist taunts. It's a bit surprising that no player has followed Eric Cantona and Eric Dier's 'get in your face between you' examples.

Clubs have worked hard to eliminate criminals and racists from our grounds.

There is no one who disagrees with taking strong action and we are all ready with stewards, standby police, evictions, education programs and bans.

But Infantino would have to shake a white shoe and come to a different conclusion.

Mine would be, with the greatest regret, to order the closure of the stadium in the event of blatant racism.

It might be surprising that no one has followed Eric Dier's example

Udinese in Serie A is an example. They have just banned four fans for life and will have to play a match behind closed doors after racist abuse was aimed at AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan last weekend.

Closed doors are rightly an embarrassment for supporters, and for the club involved it costs millions in gate, hospitality and catering revenues – let alone the millions likely to be lost to sponsors.

A much better way to encourage supporters to check each other and clubs to take more action to eliminate the dirt in the first place.

Football is a huge force in many people's lives, reaching all backgrounds, all ages and all sectors of life.

It's a game supported by billions, played by millions and nationally contributes £7.6 billion to the wider UK economy, creating more than 94,000 jobs.

Supporters can hiss and boo as much as they want. Even swearing is acceptable as long as it is not personalized or nasty.

We love football because it is “the beautiful game”, which may be a cliché, but sums up the fundamental love that has spread from our shores to the rest of the planet.

Just like race, gender and religion, color should not matter and racism has no place in the game. All players are professionals who deserve our respect.

Meghan Markle’s former best friend Jessica Mulroney has posted a cryptic message to her Instagram Story calling out people who “believe lies” about others – three years after her close friendship with the Duchess cooled.

The stylist, 43, reshared a clip with her 400,000 followers after someone else tagged her in it.

The video suggested that there are two sides to every story, suggesting that there are people who choose not to listen to both sides because they are likely looking for reasons to be against someone.

The woman in the video, who appears to have no connection to Jessica, said: “Anyone who believes lies about you was already looking for a way to oppose you before they even heard your side of the story.” , do I have to do that? to say that again?’

The mother of three did not refer to what her post was referring to, but three years ago she and the Duchess appeared to lose their bond after she found herself at the center of a social media firestorm linked to the Black Lives Matter movement.

Amid the horror around the world following the 2020 killing of George Floyd, which sparked global protests, Jessica came under fire from a Black influencer who called her behavior “problematic” – prompting her removal from several high-profile networks.

Sasha Exeter, a Canadian lifestyle influencer, posted what she described as a “generic call to action” post about the BLM movement.

However, she later claimed that Jessica had “taken offense” to the post.

In a follow-up video, Sasha said: ‘What happened next was a series of very problematic behavior and antics […]’

Since then, Jessica has not commented on rumors that she was splitting from Meghan.

Meanwhile, as the backlash against Jessica began to mount, Meghan remained quiet and distant on the issue and has not spoken publicly about her friend in years.

One source told Daily Mail that their friendship is no longer “what it once was,” adding that this was due to the fact that the pair had “just grown apart” and not because of the fallout between Jessica and Sasha.

The insider added: “Of course Meghan is worried about Jess. She will always have love for her.”

This isn’t the first time Jessica has left her followers scratching their heads, after posting another cryptic message on her Instagram page a few months ago.

She started working in September her story with a message that alluded to being loyal to friends, but also the ability to retreat when the time is right.

The message read: ‘As loving as I am, my detachment game is also strong.’

While still living in Toronto, Meghan was regularly pictured at glamorous events with the Canadian mother of three, who she met on the set of Suits.

In addition to sharing glowing posts about each other on Instagram, Meghan also raved about her best friend on her defunct lifestyle blog The Tig.

In a resurfaced post from December 2015, the duchess said that “the room stops” when her friend “shows up at an event.”

The clip, in which Jessica was tagged by another friend, read:

Referring to the 1980s American sitcom Out of This World, Meghan compared Jessica to the show’s heroine, Evie (played by Maureen Flannigan) – who has the ability to freeze time.

Meghan gushed about the effect Jessica has on people, describing her as “smart and fashionable and very cool, and also va va va voom pritaaaay” – in a post on a fan-run archive website of The Tig.

She continued, “And one more thing: she also happens to be an incredible stylist, dressing the likes of Canada’s First Lady, Sophie Trudeau.”

The purpose of the post was to give Meghan’s readers fashion advice on what to wear during the upcoming holidays.

She continued, “So when I asked her what to wear to Christmas parties and soirees in New York, I thought you might get the same wise and chic advice. You’re welcome dear!’

In the Netflix documentary, Meghan shared footage from the night Prince Harry proposed in 2017 – where she Facetimed her girlfriend ‘Jess’ as she walked the grounds of Kensington Palace.

The following year, Meghan then asked Jessica’s three children John, Brian and Isabel to be in her wedding party – with the stylist taking a starring role as she entered St George’s Chapel with the Princess of Wales.

However, it appears the Duchess of Sussex’s friendship with the Toronto-based stylist has cooled in recent years.

Despite playing a major role on their wedding day and publicly supporting Meghan as she adjusted to life as a Royal, Jessica was noticeably absent from the Duke and Duchess’ six-hour Netflix series, which landed on the streaming platform in December 2022 . .

The University of Bristol has axed the anthem from its graduation ceremonies, with some students claiming it is ‘old fashioned’ and ‘offensive to some’.

The anthem has not been played since last year’s ceremony, with the university saying it regularly updates its graduation ceremonies.

God Save The King will now only be played when a member of the Royal Family is present.

Some students at the 147-year-old university have suggested the anthem was scrapped because it is “irrelevant,” “old-fashioned” or could even be “offensive to some.”

It comes just weeks after the university vowed to remove the emblem of slave trader Edward Colston from its logo after his statue was toppled during a Black Lives Matter protest in the city in June 2020.

Layla Daynes, 21, shared The sun: ‘The monarchy isn’t really relevant to my generation, so it wouldn’t be missed.’

Toby Young, chief executive of the Free Speech Union, asked: ‘Why are Britain’s most prestigious universities openly disrespecting the country’s history and heritage?’

MailOnline has contacted the University of Bristol for further comment.

It comes after former Labor councilor and emeritus professor Harriet Bradley, who used to work at the university, called for “someone to blow up the venue” where the Jewish Labor Movement hosts its annual conference.

The 78-year-old has now deleted the tweet.

The offensive post has sparked an angry response from the Jewish community, with the sociology professor, who studies “inequalities of class, gender, ethnicity,” reported to police and her former employer.

Avon and Somerset Police are reportedly investigating the matter as an ‘incident of malicious communications’.

Daniel Sugarman, director of public affairs for the Council of Deputies of British Jews, responded: “I checked to see if this tweet was genuine. It is.

‘I am currently in the building where Jewish Labor held their conference last year, so you can imagine this is an additional concern for me. An Emeritus Professor of Sociology at the University of Bristol.’

Black Lives Matter protesters gathered to pull the bronze statue of 17th-century slave trader Edward Colston from its pedestal before it fell first into the breakwater

At the end of November, the university announced it would further distance itself from slave trader Edward Colston following a public consultation on whether seven buildings named after families – including Wills and Frys – with links to slavery should be renamed.

Professor Evelyn Welch, vice-chancellor and president of the university, announced the decision to remove Colston’s emblem in an open letter, in which she also apologized to those who had experienced racism at the institution.

The personal emblem of the 17th century merchant – a dolphin – was included in the design of the university’s modern logo in 2003, based on the coat of arms awarded in 1909 upon the founding of the institution.

A university spokesperson said the 4,000 students, staff and members of local communities who responded to the survey found it “crucial to acknowledge and explain the past” and the historical significance of such figures.
