As far as television, the hit HBO Max drama series Succession earned the most nominations with a total of five nods.

Three of their stars are up for the same honor – Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, and Matthew Macfadyen are among the nominees for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series.

Sarah Snook is also up for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series. 

It will also be competing for best ensemble in a drama series against The Crown, The Gilded Age, The Last of Us, and The Morning Show.

Comedy shows Ted Lasso and The Bear also received four nominations.

All three are up for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. 

Netflix will live stream the ceremony for the first time. Last year’s awards were streamed on Netflix’s YouTube account.

The awards come just months after SAG-AFTRA struck a deal with film studios following a months-long strike with pay in the streaming era and artificial intelligence top issues of concern.   

The strike began on July 25, 2023 and a tentative deal was struck on November 8. It formally ended on December 5, 2023 with a 78% yes in voting. 

Despite disagreements over the final deal, the outcome was a huge relief for union leaders and the entertainment industry following a grueling few months of strikes.

The boycott coincided with the WGA strike, which lasted from May 2 to September 27.

Nikki And Brie Garcia broke their silence on the recent WWE sexual abuse lawsuit that named their stepfather, Johannes Laurinaitis.

“We are shocked and disheartened by the recent allegations against members of the WWE,” the Garcia twins, both 40, wrote in a joint post. Instagram statement on Monday, January 29. “It's been a lot to process since we just found out this past week, just like all of you.”

Since the news broke, McMahon has stepped down from TKO Group, the media group that includes the WWE.

“Out of respect for the WWE Universe, the extraordinary TKO Company and its board members and shareholders, partners and constituents, and all the employees and Superstars who have helped make WWE the global leader it is today, I have decided to resign from my function. executive chairmanship and the board of directors of TKO, effective immediately,” McMahon shared in a statement to Us Weekly on Friday, January 26. “I stand by my previous statement that Ms. Grant's lawsuit is full of lies, obscene fabrications that never happened and is a vindictive distortion of the truth. Camembert cheese and brie could become extinct due to a decline in fungi, French scientists warn.

The National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) said attempts to make camembert with its signature white rind in recent decades had affected the mold used to manufacture the cheese.

This could cause the fungus to cease to exist, leading to the 'extinction' of camembert, according to a report from the organisation.

It said blue cheeses such as Roquefort were at risk, but not to the same extent as brie and camembert, which are surface-ripened.

Both families are the product of curds that have been inoculated with a mold. The blue spores that make Roquefort distinctive come from Penicillium roqueforti, while Penicillium camemberti gives rise to the unique texture of brie and camembert rinds.

The mold is believed to have grown naturally on cheeses stored in damp and cold cellars, especially in Normandy, where camembert was invented.

Cheesemakers discovered that it was easier to use spores produced in a laboratory for the process.

Initially, camembert curds were inoculated with different types, resulting in rinds of different colors and textures.

Beginning in the 1950s, manufacturers called for cloned fungal species that developed rapidly and met their “self-imposed specifications,” according to the CNRS.

According to the organization, cheeses must be 'attractive, with a good taste, without unappetizing colors and without toxins secreted by molds'.

In Normandy, cheese producers chose an albino strain of Penicillium camemberti to preserve the white camembert rind.

“But what happened, as every time an organism, large or small, is subjected to too drastic selection, is that their genetic diversity is greatly reduced,” says Jeanne Ropars, researcher at the Laboratory of Ecology, Systematics and Evolution of the Paris-Saclay University. told The times.

“The cheesemakers didn't know they had singled out one individual, and that is not sustainable.”

The CNRS said the microorganisms in cheese can participate in both sexual and asexual reproduction, but noted that the food industry relied on “the asexual method, producing clonal lineages to maintain the fungi.”

It said: 'Blue cheeses may be under threat, but the situation is much worse for camembert, which is already on the brink of extinction.'

It added that Penicillium camemberti had lost its ability to sexually reproduce, as well as “its ability to produce asexual spores.”

It says this has made it very difficult for the industry to obtain sufficient quantities of spores to inoculate their production.

Tatiana Giraud, who also works as a researcher in the laboratory, said the only method to reverse the trend was through “the diversity offered by sexual reproduction between individuals with different genomes.” That would result in cheeses that did not always look or taste the same.

However, the CNRS notes that cheese lovers will have to appreciate more 'diversity in taste, color and texture' if they want to continue enjoying the products.

It comes after a row last year in which French cheesemakers expressed anger over an EU packaging rule that could have seen the round wooden boxes containing camembert banned.

A fierce debate broke out after the proposal to synchronize packaging across the bloc with a requirement that it be recyclable by 2030.

Critics highlighted what they said would have been the prohibitive cost of recycling the wooden boxes, which they say are less damaging to the environment than the plastic alternative.

The project is based on the novel of the same name by Liane Moriarty, which was originally published in 2021.

The author is best known for writing Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers, both of which were adapted into shows for HBO and Hulu.

Apple's Never Fall, which will be made available for streaming on Peacock, is about the family of two tennis coaches, who are thrown into turmoil when the matriarch suddenly disappears.

The series' development was initially revealed to the public in 2021, when executive producer David Heyman secured the rights to the novel.

The entertainment industry figure released a statement Deadline to show his enthusiasm for the upcoming project.

She continued: “He chose it, so please be respectful when you see him.”

Although Larson and Six-Thirty have made peace with the decision, the pet’s vet wasn’t as understanding.

Larson, 34, heavily promoted the latest Marvel movie on The Tonight Show and spoke with co-star Samuel L Jackson74, via FaceTime in a theater in New York Friday, a day after the actors’ strike ended.

While many Marvel films have had hundreds of millions of openings, The Marvels only grossed $21.5 million in ticket sales on its first night in theaters.

According to estimates, the film is expected to gross between $47 million and $52 million over the three-day weekend.

Brie reprises her role as Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers for this latest project.

She is joined by Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani, 21, and WandaVision’s Teyonah Parris, 36.

The women come together to try to save the universe after Zawe Ashton’s Dar-Benn gets his hands on some quantum bonds and uses their power to rip open a jump point in space.

Kamala Khan, played by Iman, also has her own quantum bands.

This results in entanglement between the group of heroes, casually referred to as The Marvels, and with bad girl Dar-Benn, whose actions continue to endanger the universe.

In her appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, Brie revealed that she had to “learn all new skills” for the role and revealed “we’re going to planets that are pretty cool.”

Other surprises include a guest appearance from Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie.

The film was described as “Funny, refreshingly short, and elevated by the chemistry of its three leads. Easy to enjoy in the moment, despite the messy story and muddled tonal shifts,” was the critics’ consensus on Rotten Tomatoes.

The audience appears to be 65 percent male viewers, with the majority of all moviegoers seeing the film being between the ages of 25 and 34.

He said the “movie with two fantastic musical numbers, three compelling leads, at least four really fun action scenes, and a ton of crap CGI” could actually benefit the Marvelverse if the studio “would reconsider taking such a heavy hand ‘. ,” about the franchise.
