You can find more of it The athletic’S coverage of the men’s NCAA tournament here and the women’s NCAA tournament here. Catch live coverage of the first round of the 2024 Men’s NCAA Tournament

On Wednesday, I boarded a flight from San Francisco to Las Vegas for the express purpose of watching college basketball.

Not to attend an actual basketball game, mind you. Those flights were headed to Omaha, Neb., and Charlotte, NC. In my case, I spend hundreds of dollars for the privilege of sitting (or standing) in various sportsbooks and watching parties to watch NCAA Tournament games that are readily available on the television in my living room.

If the high hotel prices and $250 tickets for reserved seats are any indication, hundreds of thousands of other sports fans are doing the same.

For many of them, betting is probably the draw, but these days you don’t have to fly to Vegas to place a sports bet. Alcohol consumption may be another, but that too is easily available for much less than a plane ticket.

The appeal of Vegas for March Madness is much the same as it is for millions of people filling out brackets and cheering their heads off for schools and players they had never heard of two hours earlier. That’s because the NCAA tournament is one of our country’s increasingly rare communal experiences.

In these polarizing times, when even the most innocent topic can spark outrage, there is still one thing that people from all parts of the country enjoy equally: supporting the underdog. There are no two sides to No. 16 seed Fairleigh Dickinson knocking off No. 1 seed Purdue (unless you’re a Purdue fan). There is no political agenda behind the disturbing St. Peter’s in Kentucky.

It’s nothing but pure, pure joy to watch for two hours as a team of complete unknowns, who play most of their games in front of 800 people, take on a bunch of future professionals from a power conference and come out on top. Or when, with a team’s season on the line, 19-year-old sophomores drain a 3-point buzzer-beater to etch themselves into “One Shining Moment” lore for the rest of their lives.

No other sporting event manages to deliver so many indelible moments year after year. Sure, there are “glitches” in professional sports. But if the New York Giants beat the New England Patriots in a Super Bowl, it will ultimately be one multi-millionaire team beating another team. Not exactly Oral Roberts beating Ohio State.

College football has had its share of Cinderella moments, like Appalachian State stunning Michigan or Boise State toppling Oklahoma. But when it comes to the biggest late-season games, it’s almost always Alabama, Georgia or Michigan beating another Alabama, Georgia or Michigan.

The NBA has LeBron, Giannis and Jokić. But there is no Sister Jean.

But above all, in all these sports there are no teams that the entire country supports. People don’t suddenly turn into Philadelphia Eagles fans once the NFL playoffs start. But if you’ve ever been in an arena where No. 13 is still hanging around in the second half, you know the buzz of 20,000 people suddenly turning into rabid Furman fans for the rest of the game.

The only thing you can compare it to is events like the World Cup or the Olympic Games, where an American team or athlete participates. But even the women’s national soccer team has become politicized, with the men causing collective fear mainly because they are so mediocre. And chances are you don’t even remember the names of most of the gold medalists from the last Olympics.

While every college basketball fan will forever remember the likes of Bryce Drew, Tyus Edney and Kris Jenkins.

That brings me back to Vegas. Although it doesn’t have to be Vegas. It could be your local Buffalo Wild Wings. Or the dive bar in your neighborhood. Or a sports bar close enough to sneak into on your lunch break.

March Madness is the one sporting event that is best enjoyed in the company of others. Experience the rollercoaster of scoring droughts and momentum swings in a room full of other captivated viewers as your Final Four pick tries to survive a first-round scare. High-five random people around you when Vermont sinks a 3-pointer and is nine points ahead of Duke.

Or running around the room screaming and hugging strangers when a kid from Long Beach State puts one at the buzzer to take down Arizona.

Enjoy the flight, wherever you go.

Get ready for March Madness:

PLAYSTATION’s hugely successful extraction shooter, Helldivers 2, received its latest update today, March 20, 2024.

Helldivers 2, patch 1.000.103 brings some important bug fixes and balance adjustments, but leaves out an issue that still plagues many players.

Helldivers 2 update 1,000,103 fixes

One of the notable improvements in update 1.00.103 concerns the EXO-45 Patriot Exosuit, which no longer self-destructs when firing missiles while spinning.

This was a crucial mistake that made the recent Helldivers 2 strategy quite unreliable in combat.

The update also addresses the issue of enemy patrols spawning on top of players, making it impossible for them to avoid damage.

One issue that has been bothering some players and has yet to be resolved is crossplay friend requests.

Read more about Helldivers 2

Many PS5 players have reported that they cannot add friends who play on PC and vice versa, making it difficult to play together.

The developers are aware of this issue and have stated that fixing it is a top priority, so a fix should be included in one of the next updates.

Helldivers 2 update 1,000,103 balance changes

The balance changes in this update include adjustments to the spawn rate of Planetary Hazards during missions.

Meteor showers and volcanic activity have reduced, meaning they are now less likely to occur, and their characteristics have been adjusted to cause fewer problems.

Namely, the explosion radius and damage of meteor showers have been reduced, while the rock speed of volcanic activity has been slightly reduced.

The lighting on the planet Fenrir III has also been adjusted to improve visibility during meteor showers.

Finally, several fixes have been implemented to address various situations that can cause the game to crash, including PS5 booting issue.

Overall, this latest update should make the game more fun and reliable for players.

Helldivers 2 update 1,000,103 patch notes

You can find the full patch notes for Helldivers 2 update 1.000.103 on Steam and on the game’s official Discord server.

Palestinians in the Israeli-occupied West Bank welcome Ramadan with little cheer. Amid Israel’s continued attacks in Gaza and increasing violence in the West Bank, the festive decorations and festive atmosphere of the holy month are being replaced by feelings of helplessness and despair.

“There is no joy,” said Hana Karameh, a mother of five from the city of Hebron.

Ramadan will be “incomplete” this year, she said. Normally on the night before the first fast of Ramadan began, they would pray with their neighbors and gather for suhoor – the pre-dawn meal – as children shot off fireworks.

On Sunday evening, when the holy month arrived, she said, “None of that was the case.”

Even before Ramadan, Ms. Karameh said she found it difficult to sit down to meals knowing that many people in Gaza were starving. “I keep asking myself, have they eaten? Have they been drinking? ” she said.

Mrs. Karameh said her husband usually took their youngest children to the market to buy sweets and stock up on food the night before Ramadan started. Later, he took them to the mosque to pray Taraweeh, a daily night prayer in Ramadan. But this year, she said, the family couldn’t do those things.

“Normally there would be seven people at our iftar table,” she said, referring to the evening meal that breaks the fast. “But this year there are five of us.”

Ms Karameh’s husband, Jamal, 55, and her daughter Baraah, 19, were detained by Israeli forces more than three months ago and are being held in administrative detention without charge or trial. They are among more than 7,500 Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem who have been detained by Israeli forces since the October 7 Hamas-led attacks, according to the Palestinian Authority, which exercises limited control over the West Bank.

Palestinians in the West Bank are also less likely to host elaborate iftar meals this year as their economic situation has deteriorated over the past five months. Israeli restrictions and closures in the West Bank have left businesses struggling since October 7.

“It’s a very different feeling compared to previous years,” said Bassam Abu al-Rub, a journalist from the West Bank city of Jenin who lives in Nablus. “I went to the supermarket and bought only basic ingredients because when we sit down to eat after seeing the scenes in Gaza, we feel heartbroken.”

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry in Ramallah, increasing violence and regular Israeli raids in the West Bank have killed more than 425 people since October 7. The Israeli military has said the raids are part of its counter-terrorism efforts against members of Hamas in the West Bank.

“In addition to the war in Gaza, the West Bank is also experiencing a war since 2021,” he said, referring to the year when Israeli raids, detentions and settler violence in the occupied territory began to increase sharply. “Imagine living in this emotional state of daily raids, sounds of gunfire and gas bombs and regular arrests,” Mr Abu al-Rub said in a telephone conversation. “Of course you will fear further escalation” during the holy month, he added.

Mr Abu al-Rub said he would look forward to it every year if Israel granted him a permit to visit Jerusalem and pray at the Al Aqsa Mosque, one of the holiest sites in Islam. But this year he didn’t have much hope of going.

.

Al Aqsa, which is located on a site revered by Jews as the site of two ancient temples, has long been a point of contention, and in recent years Israel has exerted tighter control over it. On Monday, the Israeli agency will monitor policy for the Palestinian territories posted on Facebook that only men over 55 years old, women over 50 years old and children under 10 years old would be allowed to enter Israel from the West Bank to pray at Al Aqsa during Ramadan.

ALDI is set to unveil a “cute” new Easter toy in just days and shoppers can’t contain their excitement.

The German discounter is adding a Kevin de Wortel cuddly toy to its shelves prior to the religious holiday.

Shoppers can pick up a sheep or lamb themed version for £3.99 from the Specialbuys section of their nearest store from March 14.

But that means stock is limited, so you’ll have to act quickly if you’re keen to buy one for the kids, or even for yourself.

Also note that Aldi does not deliver, so you will need to go to the nearest branch.

You can find the one near you using the retailer’s online search tool.

Aldi announced earlier this month that the toys would hit shelves within weeks, and shoppers could barely contain their joy.

One called it ‘cute’, while another added: ‘I don’t need these… but I WANT them.’

A third enthusiastic Kevin fan added: “I can’t deal with this.”

It’s also not the first time Aldi fans have panicked over Kevin-themed toys.

The retailer, which currently runs more than 1,000 UK stores, sent shoppers into meltdown when it launched new toys from Kevin de Wortel and William Conker last Christmas.

In 2022, some shoppers lined up outside their local branches at 4am in an attempt to be the first to get their hands on Kevin toys.

Shopping Discounts – How to Save and Find the Best Bargains

Others were forced to wait in an online queue on Aldi’s website.

And in recent years, real fights have broken out in the aisles as parents fought to get their hands on them.

How to save money at Aldi

Maybe you plan to make the most of your trip to pick up Kevin toys and do some shopping too.

Then use some of our tips to save money.

It’s worth looking out for products with red stickers, which staff add to items when they have been reduced in price.

Aldi usually adds these to products in the morning, so get to the nearest branch as early as possible for the best discounts.

Also keep an eye on the discounted fruit and vegetables: according to deal expert Tom Church, the retailer tends to cut six items every two weeks to “crazy low” prices.

Get ahead of the rest by signing up for Aldi’s newsletter and also following the retailer on social media.

It often announces upcoming deals across its two channels, so you can be the first to get the best prices.

How to compare prices to get the best deal

JUST because something is on sale or is part of a sale, it doesn’t mean it’s always a good deal.

There are plenty of comparison websites that will check prices for you, so don’t pay more than you have to.

Most of them work by comparing prices from hundreds of retailers.

Here are some we recommend:

  • Google Shopping is a tool that allows users to search for products and compare prices on the Internet. Simply enter keywords or a product number to display search results.
  • Praise spy records the history of how much something costs at more than 3,000 different retailers, including Argos, Amazon, eBay and the supermarkets. Once you select an individual product, you can quickly compare which stores have the best price and which have them in stock.
  • Ideal is another website that allows you to compare prices between retailers. All shoppers have to do is search for the item they need and the website ranks them from cheapest to most expensive.
  • CamelCamelCamel Only works on goods sold on Amazon. To use it, enter the URL of the product you want to check the price of.

If you want to save money on takeaways, Aldi’s ‘fakeaways’ can help too.

The retailer recently launched a KFC-inspired box that it claims is 62% cheaper than the chicken drumstick.

In other news, a major supermarket has put Aldi first in a blind taste test of hot cross buns.

In addition, shoppers are rushing to make a purchase for 60 cents at the German discounter that can get rid of ivy.

Ryan Gosling brought the ‘Kenergy’ as he performed nominated track I’m Just Ken at Sunday’s Oscars.

The Best Supporting Actor nominee, 43, donned a sparkling pink suit as he exuded confidence onstage – accompanied by his Barbie co-stars and Guns N Roses guitarist Slash, 58.

Gosling started off his performance wearing shades and sat in the audience alongside Barbie star Margot Robbie, 33, as she giggled.

He then prowled his way to the stage where he joined a host of tuxedo clad back-up dancers.

Tenderly stroking their faces he was picked up and twirled in the air by the dancers before joining co-stars including Simu Liu onstage.

Gosling also enjoyed a reunion with his La La Land co-star Emma Stone as he serenaded her while walking into the audience.

Fans quickly noticed a similarity between Gosling’s performance and Marilyn Monroe’s iconic Gentleman Prefer Blondes scene in 1953 in which she performed Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend.

Barbie – was nominated for eight awards, but also fell victim to notable snubs from the Academy.

Its star Margot was not nominated for best actress, while Greta Gerwig was not nominated for best director.

Another surprise saw America Ferrera nominated for best supporting actress over her role in Barbie, with pundits saying her character’s impassioned speech on feminism had sealed the deal.

Barbie’s other nominations include best picture, best supporting actor for Gosling – who lost to Oppenheimer’s Robert Downey Jr. and two nods for best song – for I’m Just Ken and Billie Eilish track, What Was I Made For? – winning in the latter category.

Gerwig was nominated for best director in 2018 for her solo directorial debut, Lady Bird.

Only three women have won Oscars for best director – Kathryn Bigelow, Chloe Zhao and Jane Campion.

Jimmy Kimmel roasted Robert Downey Jr’s manhood and past drug use in his bombshell opening monologue at the 2024 Oscars on Sunday – while also appearing to upset actress Emma Stone.

The host, 56, returning for the fourth time, left the A-listers grinning and cringing in equal measure as he took to the stage.

Downey Jr. 58, who is nominated for Best Supporting Actor for Oppenheimer was stony-faced as Kimmel made a crass joke at the start of the ceremony – referring to the reformed coke addict’s past addictions.

He said: ‘And Robert Downey Jr., one of the highest points of his career. But Robert has been’ – as RDJ pointed at his face, leading Kimmel to add: ‘Was that too on the nose or a drug motion you made?

‘But look at him, he’s so handsome, so talented, he’s won every award there is to win. Is that an acceptance speech in your pocket or do you just have a very rectangular penis?’

The joke fell flat as RDJ looked somber while staring at the camera while fans slammed Kimmel for his ‘bottom of the barrel’ jokes about substance abuse.

Later, Kimmel appeared to catch the ire of Emma Stone’s performance in Poor Things, joking about the explicit sex scenes by saying: ‘Those were all the parts of Poor Things that we’re allowed to show on TV.’

The camera then cut to Stone making a less than impressed face, with some speculation she even called him a ‘p***k.’

Oppenheimer won a whopping seven Oscars at Sunday night’s Academy Awards – while rival Barbie only won one.

Meanwhile Emma Stone led Poor Things to an impressive four including her Best Actress win and UK film The Zone Of Interest won two at the gala event held at The Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.

The historical epic directed by Christopher Nolan swept the major categories with wins for Best Actor Cillian Murphy, Best Supporting Actor Robert Downey Jr. and Nolan – with the film also winning Best Picture.

In contrast, Barbie, who memorably won against Oppenheimer in the ‘Barbenheimer’ box office showdown over the summer, walked away with just one award for Best Original Song for What Was I Made For? by Billie Eilish and Finneas McConnell.

Downey Jr. jokingly thanked his ‘terrible childhood’ as he finally won an Oscar for his portrayal of Lewis Strauss, was delighted as he took to the stage –  after host Jimmy Kimmel made a very awkward quip about his drug use.

The veteran actor – who has acted for over five decades –  took home the Academy Award over stiff competition including Sterling K. Brown, American Fiction, Robert De Niro, Killers of the Flower Moon, Ryan Gosling, Barbie, and Mark Ruffalo, Poor Things.

Oppenheimer won seven awards in total – as well as Best Actor for Cillian Murphy, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director for Christopher Nolan, and Best Picture,  it won Original Score for Ludwig Göransson – along with cinematography and achievement in film editing.

Al Pacino announced Oppenheimer as the Best Picture winner without bothering to name all the other nominees.

After the two films were released on the same day – July 21 – Barbenheimer gripped film fans who made an event out of going directly from the screening of one to the other.

Barbie was the highest-grossing movie of the year on both the domestic ($636.2 million) and worldwide ($1.445 billion) box office charts.

Oppenheimer took fifth place ($326.1 million) on the domestic box office charts and third place ($957.8 million) on the worldwide charts.

Meanwhile Emma, 35, powered through a wardrobe malfunction as she beat out an impressive field including favorite Lily Gladstone from Killers Of The Flower Moon in addition to Annette Bening, Nyad, Sandra Huller, Anatomy of a Fall, and Carey Mulligan, Maestro.

As Emma was walking on stage she signaled that there was something wrong with her dress as she quickly acknowledged it during her emotional acceptance speech.

She said: ‘Oh, boy. My dress is broken. I think it happened during I’m Just Ken. I’m pretty sure. Oh, boy, this is really — this is really overwhelming. Sorry, I’m — okay, my voice is also a little gone. Whatever.’

The talented 37-year-old actress beat out stiff competition including Emily Blunt, Oppenheimer, Danielle Brooks, The Color Purple, America Ferrera, Barbie, and Jodie Foster, Nyad.

In 2003, thirty years into her career, Dominique Blanc experienced every actor’s worst nightmare: the phone stopped ringing.

Approaching fifty, she was one of France’s most celebrated artists, fresh from an acclaimed stage performance in a classical tragedy. Jean Racine’s ‘Phèdre’. But the subsequent, years-long lack of offers “deeply upset me,” Blanc said in a recent interview. “I found myself in extreme loneliness. I truly believed that I would never be able to step foot on a stage again.”

“La Douleur,” a electrifying, award-winning one-woman show making its U.S. premiere at New York’s FIAF Florence Gould Hall on March 13, became a way to process the pain and take charge. Taken from a book by French author Marguerite Duras, Blanc’s character awaits her husband’s return from a Nazi concentration camp in 1945, unsure if he is still alive.

The show grew out of a series of readings she did from the book with longtime collaborator director Patrice Chéreau. In 2008, Blanc pitched him a light stage version, which only required a table, chairs and old costumes from Blanc’s closet. While Duras’ book was translated into English as ‘The War: A Memoir’, the original title simply means ‘Pain’, and in her show Blanc starkly recreates the fear of women as their partners return from untold horrors.

“It was the first time that I was all alone on stage, with this special yet difficult text. I had so much fear,” Blanc said. “But it saved me.”

For several years, Blanc reclaimed her artistic agency by performing “La Douleur” in theaters, gymnasiums and prisons, both in France and abroad. In 2022, as the theater world prepared for the tenth anniversary of Chéreau’s death, the production was revived.

“The plan is to keep doing it until the end of my life, but we’ll see where I stand,” Blanc, now 67, said with a smile.

The production is a testament to Blanc’s ability to forge a lasting career in a performance landscape that has often felt hostile to her – even as her distinctive talent has been recognized. With her softly round features and kind eyes, Blanc has long been a familiar face in France, working steadily in film, television and theatre.

Yet it is in the aftermath of “La Douleur,” at an age when roles for women are generally shrinking, that she has experienced the most productive chapter of her career.

In 2016, she joined the Comédie-Française, France’s most illustrious theater company, where she has become an important player in the repertoire. Last year she became the first actress on the core syllabus for all French high school students studying theater.

Nobel Prize-winning writer Annie Ernaux, who has known Blanc since the 2000s, said the artist has inspired unusual “love” among the French public. “She fought through thick and thin to become an actress,” says Ernaux. “She can play anything, and at the same time there is something accessible, something moving about her.”

Some of Blanc’s challenges reflected the expectations placed on female artists in her 20s and 30s. Thierry Thieû Niang, a choreographer who collaborated with Blanc and Chéreau on “La Douleur,” said that early in her career “people thought Dominique didn’t have the physique of an actress, so she wasn’t cast in archetypal female roles.” But she had a drive, a very special presence that I see in her to this day.

Blanc’s drive was partly born of necessity. While she grew up in a bourgeois family in Lyon, her conservative parents steadfastly refused to let her act. His father, a gynecologist, “never accepted it,” she said. “He refused to see my films.”

Unsure of what to do after high school, Blanc briefly considered becoming a psychiatrist before studying architecture in Lyon for two years. She then left for Paris, under the pretext of attending another architecture program, and then secretly studied acting at the Cours Florent, a prestigious private school. While there, a teacher told Blanc, without explanation, that she wouldn’t find success until she was thirty.

When her parents found out she was studying acting, they cut her off financially. For the next five years, Blanc took whatever jobs she could find: selling life insurance over the phone, modeling for painters, dog sitting, babysitting. François Florent, director of the Cours Florent, hired her as a cleaner: “I cleaned the bathrooms, the whole school. For me it was great because he trusted me,” Blanc said.

Yet the doors to professional acting remained closed. Three years in a row, Blanc failed the audition for the Paris Conservatoire, an art school seen as the golden path to a career in France. “It was very painful because it felt like the profession didn’t want me,” Blanc said. Women, she added, had to fit a certain physical shape.

It didn’t help that Blanc came of age in the 1980s, an era of French cinema that has come under increased scrutiny since last year due to its level of misogyny and sexual abuse. French actress Judith Godrèche, then a teenage star, led a wave of revelations when she accused two film directors of sexual assault. One of them was Benoît Jacquot, 25 years her senior, with whom Godrèche had a six-year relationship that started when she was 14.

“It was a very patriarchal, very traditional industry,” Blanc said. “At that time I had to put aside my feminist beliefs.” On the set of one of her first TV productions, when she was about 25, Blanc said she was asked out of the blue to strip naked for an intimate scene with a well-known performer. “I was a beginner, I didn’t know anyone. I said yes,” she said. “And that same night the famous man tried to break into my room. I was lucky that the door held up.”

On another occasion, she almost swore off cinema completely after working with respected director Jean-Luc Godard. She was hired as an extra for his film ‘Passion’ and immediately complained to Godard after being removed from a scene. “I had no idea how to behave towards the ‘god,’ and I told him I really needed the money it represented,” Blanc said. Godard put her back in and then “hurled insults at me for a whole day as we filmed it over and over again.” I was terrified.”

Looking back on the experiences of women working in French cinema, “it’s amazing what we’ve experienced,” Blanc said.

Chéreau, the director of “La Douleur,” was the first high-profile figure to offer Blanc a lifeline. In 1981 he hired her to play a small role in Ibsen’s ‘Peer Gynt’, and this collaboration was the beginning of a long-lasting creative relationship, which included both plays and films. In the 1990s, Blanc appeared in two of Chéreau’s best-known feature films, ‘Queen Margot’ and ‘Those Who Love Me Can Take the Train’, and became in demand on screen, working with directors James Ivory, Louis Malle and Agnieszka Holland .

Mainstream fame came in 1996 with ‘The King’s Way’, a highly successful TV film by Nina Companeez, in which she played Madame de Maintenon, a noblewoman who secretly married King Louis XIV. “People stopped me in the street to bow,” Blanc said with a delighted laugh. At the time, television work in France was still considered less serious acting. “But it allowed us to be in people’s homes, in their living rooms,” Blanc said.

Likewise, Blanc has never tried to establish himself as merely a leading star. Of the four César awards – the French equivalent of the Oscars – she won three for supporting roles, and she has never turned her back on smaller roles. “It’s terrible because I like everything,” she said, chuckling.

This ethos has served her well at the Comédie-Française, which she joined in 2016. At almost 60 years old, Blanc’s move was surprising: the century-old company typically hires up-and-coming actors, rather than established stars; the tempo of the repertoire system is intense. “I wondered if I would be up to the task. Everyone here is an athlete,” Blanc said in her quiet dressing room at the theater.

Yet Blanc flourished there and worked with a long list of leading directors, including Ivo van Hove, Lars Norén and Julie Deliquet. “I feel like I have learned more in eight years than in the rest of my performing career. I’m very spoiled,” Blanc said.

Léonidas Strapatsakis, who worked as an artistic advisor at the group until 2022, said that when Blanc “starts rehearsals for a new production, you would think she is a young actress who has not done anything yet: she is open to everything.”

Balancing the community she has found at the Comédie-Française with the autonomy she has in “La Douleur” has been a “selfish ideal,” Blanc said. Reviving the 2008 production was an unusual undertaking in contemporary theater, where shows typically close after the death of a director.

“It was a tribute to Chéreau, of course,” she said, adding that his trust in her, at one of her lowest points, “gave me a lot of self-confidence, and I needed that.”

The New York premiere of ‘La Douleur’ was initially planned for the early 2000s, but a ‘health scare’ prevented Blanc from traveling at the time. The two performances at the FIAF Florence Gould Hall provide a rare opportunity to see Blanc – a French star who hasn’t quite made the leap to international fame – on stage in the United States.

“Dominique was always a great actress, but I think now she is even more free, fulfilling and creative,” said Thieû Niang, co-director of “La Douleur.”

Over the past few years, “I have felt extremely happy,” Blanc said. “Acting really saved my life.”

Niall Horan gave his fans a special treat when it came out Shawn Mendes as a surprise guest at his recent concert in London.

On Friday, March 1, Horan’s stop The show: live on tour at the OVO Arena in Wembley, Mendes, 25, came on stage to sing a duet. The pair performed an acoustic version of Mendes’ hit single “Treat You Better.”

Both singers sat on stools and strummed their guitars as they sang the lyrics. The crowd enthusiastically held up their phone flashlights as they were serenaded.

After the duo finished signing, Mendes left the stage. Horan, 30, proudly declared: “That’s my boy!” per footage shared via X.

Since splitting from One Direction in 2016, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik have had varying degrees of success in the music industry. All five original members have embarked on solo careers, with Malik becoming the first to do so after abruptly leaving the boy band in March 2015. Then he signed […]

Fans went into an uproar on social media after clips of the duet surfaced.

“I’m crying because Shawn Mendes is back on stage and he’s singing ‘Treat You Better’ with Niall Horan,” one user wrote via Xwhile another shared: “The way I scream and cry watching all these videos of Shawn singing on stage with Niall.”

This is the first time in almost a year since Mendes took the stage. He last performed in June 2023 during Ed Sheeran‘s Toronto stops in his Multiplication tour.

Mendes himself has not toured since 2022 Miracle: the world tour. He kicked off the performances in late June 2022, but after several shows he decided to postpone the tour for three weeks so he could focus on his mental health.

“After a few years off the road I felt like I was ready to get back into it, but that decision was premature and unfortunately the toll of the road and the pressure caught up with me and I I have reached a breaking point,” he wrote in July 2023 via his Instagram Story. “After speaking with my team and healthcare professionals, the first thing I need to do is take some time to heal and take care of myself and my mental health. As soon as there are more updates, I promise I will let you know I love you.”

Nearly three weeks later, Mendes ultimately canceled the entire tour.

“I started this tour excited to finally be able to play live again after a long hiatus due to the pandemic, but the reality is that I was not at all ready for how difficult touring would be after this period of absence,” the musician wrote via Instagram the time. “After speaking more with my team and working with an incredible group of health professionals, it has become clearer that I need to take the time I never personally took to ground myself and come back stronger.”

Hold nothing back. After finding fame as a teenager, Shawn Mendes has been open about the impact fame has had on his mental health over the years. “I’m so grateful. I love these performances. I’ve never had so much fun in my life,” the ‘Stitches’ singer admitted during his November 2020 Netflix documentary, Shawn […]

After taking a year to focus on his health, Mendes said he felt “extreme anxiety” during his creative process to get his music right. However, if he trusted his instincts, the fear would diminish.

“At first it felt so hard to make myself sing without needing perfection, but after a while I started to fall in love with the dance between the ‘right’ and the ‘wrong’ notes,” he said in a video of January. “I realized that there were only moments of bliss and euphoria at the ‘right’ notes, BECAUSE of the ‘wrong’ notes. The only reason I can sing in key is because I learned to listen.”

Alyssa Milano‘s worlds collided when she brought her son to meet her TV dad, Tony Danza.

Milano, 51, took her son Milo, 12, to see Danza perform his live show “Standards & Stories” at the Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood, where the Who is the boss? alum interweaves music with personal stories from his life.

“Tonight was very special for me,” Milano wrote via Instagram on Saturday, February 24, alongside a selfie of her and Milo. “I got to take my real son to my TV dad’s show at @catalinajazzclub. Milo said, “He seems so happy, Mom. Text him and tell him this was the best show.” We love you, @tonydanza.”

Milano’s night out with her son comes weeks after she was criticized online in January for setting up a GoFundMe page for Milo’s baseball team on behalf of her husband. David Bugliari. A major complaint from the critics was Milano’s choice to ask for money from fans instead of donating the money himself.
