The Great British Bake Off will reportedly remain on Channel 4 for another three years – after the hit series was at the center of a £100million tug-of-war between streaming giants before its contract with Channel 4 expired.

Reports earlier this month suggested that Netflix and other streaming channels could be enticed into attempting to move the beloved show to a rival broadcaster.

But according to The mirrorbosses are close to agreeing a new three-year deal for the series.

A TV source said: ‘There were some raised eyebrows at Channel 4 when reports suggested Bake Off could be moving in recent weeks as they are in the middle of negotiations.

‘But as far as the bosses are concerned, they have all the ingredients they deem necessary for a brilliant partnership on the show, and that’s something they want to continue.

The Great British Bake Off will now reportedly stay on Channel 4 for another three years – after the hit series was at the center of a £100million tug-of-war between streaming giants

A TV source claimed: 'Nothing has been confirmed but the most likely outcome now is that Bake Off will remain on Channel 4 beyond 2024'

A TV source claimed: ‘Nothing has been confirmed but the most likely outcome now is that Bake Off will remain on Channel 4 beyond 2024’

‘Nothing has been confirmed, but the most likely outcome now is for Bake Off to remain on Channel 4 beyond 2024, with both parties currently in favor of a three-year contract.’

MailOnline has contacted Channel 4 for comment.

It comes after claims emerged that the show could be forced to move to a streaming giant due to Channel 4’s ‘money problems’.

The channel axed several shows in 2023, reportedly to control costs, and last month it was reported that GBBO could be its next show.

The broadcaster’s contract to air the competition reportedly expires after the 2024 series, and it was claimed at the time that there was no talk of renewing it.

The sun claimed that Netflix and Disney+ were mentioned as potential buyers.

A source said: ‘The participation of two major companies in the race has massively increased the value of the show, which is already sought after for its global appeal.

‘Streamers also want to combine their model with shows that air at the same time and day every week.

‘Netflix is already doing this with WWE wrestling and Disney+ recently bought the US version of Strictly. Word is they both want to do the same with a big British show.”

Channel 4 is also said to be planning to cut 200 jobs after a huge drop in television advertising.

The show, judged by Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith and presented by Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond, launched on the BBC in 2010.

However, it was bought by Channel 4 in 2016 for £25 million, a shockwave that saw the original presenters sensationally quit.

Netflix currently has the rights to broadcast Bake Off in America, while ITV came close to bidding for the UK rights during the last round of negotiations, but decided against it.

Channel 4 said: ‘Any speculation around contracts is just that and we look forward to bringing many more soaking bottoms to our viewers in the future.’

Netflix and Disney+ declined to comment.

Judge Prue recently broke her silence on the claims and opened up The mirror: ‘Oh my God, I hope to stay with Bake Off wherever it goes. But I don’t think it will move.

‘I know a lot of people are struggling and Channel 4 has lost a lot of shows.

‘But I’m pretty sure as long as Channel 4 is around they will continue to follow Bake Off. It’s certainly one of their best shows. I think it has found its natural home on Channel 4.”

It is the documentary that spans six decades and follows children from different social backgrounds and transcends generations.

And now the Up series has been named the most influential program of the past 50 years in a poll by members of the Broadcasting Press Guild.

The program was first broadcast in 1964 on ITV and followed fourteen seven-year-old children from the ‘extremes’ of society to represent the different socio-economic backgrounds of Britain, directed by Paul Almond.

Seven years later, Michael Apted, who had been an investigator on the first episode, took over and directed all subsequent episodes, including the most recent in 2019 – two years before his death in 2021.

The series, which was filmed every seven years between 1964 and 2019, sought to shine a light on how a child’s upbringing can impact the rest of their life. Some participants have dropped out over the years, others have died.

As another year of Crufts has passed, dogs have shown their enthusiasm for the revered event, not only as participants, but also as viewers.

Owners have taken to social media to share sweet snaps of their puppies enjoying the prestigious dog competition.

The reactions ranged from hyper-focused and animated to lazily immersed in the events.

‘Buzz has an afternoon chilling out watching Crufts,’ @emilywhitts said on X – formerly known as Twitter, as she shared a photo of a sleepy-looking Beagle on the couch.

Elsewhere, @georgelolaboxer shared a sweet photo of George, an 11-year-old boxer looking very alert as they tuned in to Channel 4’s coverage of the event.

Ben Kristall (@BenCrystall), from Hertford, took a photo of his Terrier Maple intently tuned in to watch the show.

‘Maple has her favorite chewing gum ready for the #terrier inspection and #bestinshow! #Crufts2024 @Crufts,” he wrote. ‘And lots of barking to cheer on the #flyballers.’

In the meantime @K9Reggie took a video of their Chihuahua Rupert’s first time watching Crufts – and said it was clear he ‘wanted to be there’.

More than 19,000 dogs from around the world, along with their owners, flocked to the NEC in Birmingham this week to take part in the competition.

The competition, which has been running since 1981, is currently organized by The Kennel Club and attracts more than 160,000 spectators every year.

An Australian shepherd named Viking was crowned best in show at Crufts 2024 last week.

Three-year-old Viking, from Solihull, Birmingham, beat 24,000 dogs from around the world over the past four days to claim the show’s top honors on Sunday.

Viking, co-owned by Melanie Raymond, John Shaw and Kerry Kirtley, was the pastoral group winner earlier in the show.

Meanwhile, @K9Reggie took a video of their Chihuahua Rupert’s first time watching Crufts – and said it was clear he ‘wanted to be there’

Mrs Raymond, a third-generation dog breeder who lives just three miles from the show grounds, said: ‘We all dream of being best in show at Crufts.’

When asked if he lived up to expectations, she said: “He actually did, I should never doubt him because he always gives me everything and you walk in and he says, ‘Yeah, come on, let’s do this doing”.

“So he’s loving every minute of it.”

According to dog welfare and training organization The Kennel Club, the breed was developed in America as a herding dog for working on ranches and is “very successful in the show ring” because of its “attractive colors and athletic movements.”

A nine-year-old Jack Russell terrier named Zen, from Japan, who previously won the terrier group, was named reserve dog.

Viking succeeds hunting dog Orca, who last year became the first lagotto romagnolo to win the prize. The four-year-old was driven 25 hours across Europe, from Rijeka, western Croatia, to the world’s most famous dog show.

Among the 220 breeds represented at the show was an Afghan Hound that was groomed before being judged by a comparable owner.

But it wasn’t just the dogs that battled it out at the National Exhibition Center (NEC) in Birmingham.

Singer-songwriters Chris Amoo and Sting’s dogs battled it out today. Police frontman Sting’s wife Trudie Styler’s Creena Atticus Finch in Dukesarum was one of nine Irish Wolfhounds the couple entered at the show. But he finished second behind Sade Melchior of The Real Thing singer Amoo in the Irish Wolfhound Limit Dog class.

Amoo, 71, was a finalist last year with crowd favorite Paris, another Irish Wolfhound.

The 70-year-old won Best in Show in 1987 with an Afghan Hound.

An Afghan hound is groomed before being judged on the final day of the Crufts dog show at the National Exhibition Center in Birmingham, central England, on March 10, 2024.

She told me, ‘People said John’s smoking caused his cancer.

‘But I am convinced it was his dismissal from Channel 4 and then the resulting tribunal that cost him his life. It hurt him so much.

“I knew him better than anyone and nothing anyone says will convince me otherwise.

“We used to be a big family with Channel 4. But when he was forced off the air, it was devastating for him.”

Jenny, of course, found her own fame when she appeared on Celebrity Wife Swap with Big Mac and John and Edwina Currie.

Race viewers only knew Jenny as ‘The Booby’, the nickname Big Mac gave her. She was rarely seen but was always mentioned on air.

She said: “People always said it was derogatory to be given that name, but I loved it.

“John had his way. I let him think he was the boss, but he knew I was in charge at home.

“His on-air character was just a show – and he was very good at it.”

John completely relied on Jenny. Just before midnight on Friday evening she drove to King’s Cross Station to buy the first editions of all the newspapers for his TV review the next day.

He was fully prepared, while John Francome and Alistair Down were able to appear on the program for a few minutes and talk their way through the programme.

She added: ‘After his death I found the Cheltenham Festival quite disturbing. Too many memories.”

Big Mac was into more than just the whining. Jenny said: “He loved all our dogs and cats.

“When John died, I sold a lot of his hats and caps. All the money went to animal charities. He would have wanted that.

“One day I opened the car door at our hotel in Cheltenham and a little kitten jumped in. She lived a rough life.

“Of course John and I ended up taking her home – and to this day I still have Gertrude.”

But their happily ever after was unfortunately not meant to be as they divorced in November the following year.

Seventeen years after their failed marriage, the former insurance teleseller has confessed that she almost married another man before she became famous.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun’s Fabulous magazine, Chantelle said: “Although I don’t regret it Big Brother, I sometimes wonder what my life would be like now if I hadn’t gone on the show.

“Before the series started, I was with a man who I probably would have married and had children with. He was always so nice to me.

more about Chantelle Houghton

“As for Preston, we are still good friends and I love having him in my life. We were just too young when we got married.

“No matter what happens, I am incredibly grateful and I have the most fantastic memories.

“Does my version of the perfect man exist? Maybe he’s out there, maybe he’s not.

“But I’m no longer looking for him and for the first time in many years that has brought me peace.”

With Celebrity Big Brother back on the small screen, now on ITV, Chantelle is reminiscing about the show that changed her life.

She was working as a temporary worker at NatWest when she was thrust into the spotlight in the fourth series of the famous spin-off, in which she posed as part of fictional girl band Kandy Floss.

She appeared at the famous Channel 4 house alongside showbiz names including Michael Barrymore and the late Dead Or Alive singer Pete Burns.

Viewers fell in love with her overnight and she came out on top after striking up a romance with pop star Preston.

After their divorce in November 2007, Chantelle had several high-profile relationships, including with TV presenter Rav Wilding and cross-dressing cage fighter Alex Reid – with whom she shares daughter Dolly, now 11.

She told us: “Watching the contestants enter the Celebrity Big Brother house last week took me back to 2006.

“It’s been 18 years since I joined the show as the ‘fake celeb’. I had no idea my life would change forever thanks to a romance with The Ordinary Boys frontman Preston, which captured the hearts of millions of viewers.

“Although our whirlwind love story – which saw us marry within eight months of meeting – would end in divorce the following year, the way we fell for each other was pure and happened in such an organic way.

‘I feel so privileged to have experienced true love in this way, because I’m not sure if this will ever happen to me again.

“The dating landscape has completely changed; decency seems to have gone out the window, and in all honesty, after a string of heartbreak, cheating partners and disastrous dates, I have now given up looking for love.

“And I haven’t even mentioned the creeps who approach me on social media with sexually inappropriate messages. Where have all the gentlemen gone?

“Chivalry seems dead and I would rather stay single for the rest of my life than settle for someone who makes me miserable.

“Empowered and free at the age of 40, I have reached a place where I can do just fine on my own. In fact, I am happier than ever.

“That also means that I have to say goodbye to intimacy, which makes me officially celibate.”

Having big breasts can bring big problems, as Jackie Adedeji knows all too well.

She told us: “I want to take risks and have fun with my clothes, but popular fashion is always aimed at women with smaller breasts. You don’t fit into fashion trends because they aren’t made for you.”

And this is where Fabulous steps in to help: we are going to create our own clothing line, especially for women with large breasts.

We need YOUR help in designing the pieces, from which style is best to the colors, patterns and materials used. You will be there every step of the way.

Once it’s designed, a group of Fabulous readers even get the chance to model the collection and help with fitting – to make sure you really like it.

When everything is ready to go, you will have the chance to pre-order your designs, with the chance to have items named after you.

Clothing FOR women with large breasts, designed BY women with large breasts – does this sound like something you would be interested in?

Complete the short quiz below to get started…

Jackie developed size 30FF breasts at the age of 11 and says she has been sexualized because of her bust all her life.

She says: “They literally grew overnight and I noticed I was being treated differently. I started getting messages from friends and family asking if I could cover up more and dress more modestly.

“When it came to sports at school, I felt like I couldn’t participate. Boys at school would make fun of me when I played netball or ran as big as my boobs.

‘At that age, boys and girls, you changed clothes together in class.

I want to take risks and have fun with my clothes, but popular fashion is always aimed at women with smaller breasts

Jackie Adedeji

“My teacher said to me one day, ‘Jacqueline, I’m really sorry, but you can’t change here because you’re way too developed,’ so I had to change in the cloakroom.

“I always felt like I was a provocative, promiscuous, unruly child who distracted everyone with her breasts.”

After this, Jackie decided that covering her chest was the best option – even choosing to wear her dad’s baggy hoodies in the summer.

As her breasts continued to grow, she realized she couldn’t wear what her friends were wearing.

She says: “My mum took me to Marks & Spencer to get a bra and it was a horrible cone-shaped underwire bra, the lady had cold hands and I burst into tears.”

But after years of covering herself up when she was 16, Jackie discovered that having big breasts wasn’t a bad thing anymore.

She says: “Boys liked them, they weren’t funny anymore, I became popular and I liked the attention.

“However, I started to realize that people were talking to my chest and not my face.

Boys at school would make fun of me when I played netball or ran as big as my boobs

Jackie Adedeji

“So I dressed with my breasts out quite a lot, because I thought, this is all I am, this is what I’m worth – I can use this to my advantage.”

And while Jackie may have enjoyed the new attention her breasts brought, it was a turning point in realizing she had to love them too.

She says, “How am I going to make this work? Should I have them reduced? Should I have them removed? Will I just be okay with them? How can I bring about peace?

“I realized I was letting people define who I was. I was ‘Jackie big tits’, the funny girl at school, so I had to figure out how to get my power back.”

Clothing was an issue, with Jackie often feeling like she couldn’t wear something because of her chest.

She says: ‘I realized that a lot of my feelings about myself came from what other people said to me: ‘Oh, your breasts are so big,’ ‘Can you dress a little nicer?’

Especially since my parents had highly respected jobs, my father was a minister and my mother was a magistrate, I felt like I was embarrassing them for existing.

“And you internalize those messages and think you’re the problem and the distraction.

“If you take all that away and you think: what do I actually think about myself? I realized that I didn’t feel so bad about who I was.

“My breasts don’t define me. They are special because they are mine. I taught myself to fall in love with myself.”

When Jackie went to college at age 18, she had a different view of her breasts.

She says, “I could rebrand and show who I am. I decided to reclaim the term ‘big boobs’ myself, and then no one would let me make the joke because I laughed first.”

But of course, not everyone is as confident in talking about breasts as Jackie is.

She says: “Someone once said to me that if I talked about having big breasts it would ruin my career.”

She has since become a successful presenter and podcaster, with her own award-winning Channel 4 documentary My Big Boobs –

She says: “It’s so easy for women with larger breasts to be sexualized, even when we’re not trying to look sexy.

“And that’s their problem, not mine. You blame me for being seductive when I haven’t done anything, that’s your business.

“When I was 14, a man stopped me on the street and asked how old I was. He then told me that I couldn’t be that old because of how big my breasts were. I was shocked.”

Boys liked them, they weren’t funny anymore, I became popular and I liked the attention

Jackie Adedeji

But what does she think about dressing her chest?

“It all starts with wearing the right bra. More often than not, people wear the wrong bra, which means you can’t dress for your body because your shape looks out of place.”

She adds: “I would love to wear triangle bikinis, but they don’t even cover a nipple. A bandeau top would be great to just throw on, but I can’t just pick things up and carry them like that.

“Even if we had the base that fit our bust, that would be great because we could build a wardrobe around ourselves that makes us look and feel good.”

“I think it’s absolutely fantastic. Fabulous makes a collection with a fuller bust. It’s time for women with big breasts to feel included and seen. It’s exciting that many women can finally enjoy dressing up and feel like queens!”

And what does she think about her breasts now?

“I love them, the relationship you have with yourself is the longest and most important relationship you will ever have.”

The screens of the pods are raised to reveal the participants’ underworld

For the uninitiated, it works like this: a man or woman (fully clothed) chooses from six naked hopefuls hidden in different colored pods.

In the first round, the screens of the pods are raised to reveal the participants’ underworld. Then one is eliminated based purely on their attractiveness from the waist down.

And so it continues until the final round, in which the picker – now also naked – makes his or her choice.

Talk about putting the cart before the horse!

READ MORE ABOUT NAKED ATTRACTION

Back in 2016, when the Channel 4 show launched, I was as curious as anyone else.

I had a feeling I wouldn’t mind having a voyeuristic butcher’s hook on this daring new show.

But I immediately felt quite nauseous. The whole premise made me wonder: whatever happened to romance?

Whatever happened to the flutter of an eyelash, an enigmatic smile or the smell of someone’s wonderful cologne?

What about the value of whispered conversations, sending someone a mixtape, or liking the look of the book they’re reading on the train?

Flirt with pornography

With Naked Attraction, all those seductive, romantic things that are often the trigger for a relationship are put aside.

I was on Channel 4’s Naked Attraction – I resorted to taking Viagra before filming and it seriously backfired

Instead, we’re left with, “Here are my genitals, let’s get out of here.”

It lacks finesse, romance and subtlety. It even lacks suspense and adventure because it ties right into it the chase – and you watch the chase and you think, “Eurgh, I wouldn’t want to chase that in a million years.”

Of course I understand why it’s popular. It’s been running for eight years, so something must be going right.

Mostly it has to do with the shock factor.

There’s a real element of surprise when someone looks quite demure but has something slightly bizarre tattooed in their nether regions.

At the other end of the spectrum was Kieran, whose so-called ‘micro-penis’ shocked host Anna Richardson.

Maybe someone looks awfully neat, but has a vajazzle like a Union Jack.

Or maybe a man is very big, but less so down there.

On the other hand, while a large appendage is guaranteed to make viewers gasp, it doesn’t guarantee matchmaking glory. One man named Ozzy was turned away after the picker decided his package was “too big.”

At the other end of the spectrum was Kieran, whose so-called ‘micro-penis’ shocked host Anna Richardson.

My problem is that the program reduces people to their genitals, and we are so much more than that.

Nothing is left to the imagination. And that’s a shame, because when a man in a nice tuxedo walks into a room, I immediately find him handsome and desirable.

It reminds me of suave movie stars like Omar Sharif and George Clooney, and I can’t help but think, “Oh yeah, you’re perfect for me.”

That wouldn’t be the case if I was just staring at his genitals.

I remember once meeting a man at an evening party and he was wearing a beautiful tuxedo. The next one The time I went out with him he was wearing an apricot-colored Aertex shirt.

What a crushing disappointment that was. The problem is that television has to be increasingly shocking to attract viewers.

Some have suggested that online porn is to blame. I wouldn’t know, because my flirtation with pornography ended in 1974 with Confessions Of A Window Cleaner.

Victorian freak show

Sure, Naked Attraction isn’t nearly as extreme as what’s available on your smartphone, but it’s a far cry from the golden years of dating shows.

At first, Blind Date’s gentle innocence was sufficient. As the couple left on their date, viewers were pleased to know if they had shared a clandestine kiss.

But along came reality TV and shows like Love Island and Married At First Sight, and we were presented with increasingly explicit content to create that all-important water cooler moment.

It’s no surprise to me that according to Google, there are still a large number of two couples from the entire history of Naked Attraction together.

People of my generation never thought in a million years that you would see male todgers on TV. So it’s a reliable way to captivate an audience, and the show, which started its twelfth series last night, continues to attract more than a million viewers every week.

I’m not knocking it.

It’s open and honest and makes no difference – or even anything – about what it’s trying to achieve. But a person’s individual body parts reveal nothing about their personality, especially when they are visually separate from that person’s body and face.

It is no surprise to me that according to Google, the large amount of two couples of the whole are still together history of naked attraction.

However, if there’s one positive thing to say about the program, it’s that it’s a break from the unattainable bodies we see in magazines and social media.

It’s the modern equivalent of a Victorian freak show, where you stare at the bearded lady.

Instead of feeling bad about yourself when you watch it, you’re much more likely to feel sorry for the people actually in it.

And it looks like I’m not alone, as 74 percent of readers told a Sun survey last year that you couldn’t pay them to participate. I’m not one of those voyeurs watches Naked attraction faithfully, or even secretly, hoping to see as many misshapen periwinkles and pierced foo-foos as possible.

I’m that person who, if it happens to come on TV, I look for the remote and change the channel.

But I don’t think there’s anything wrong with someone interacting with it or watching it. If anyone wants to parade their genitals on TV, good luck.

Disliking the show doesn’t make me a prude and I don’t think Naked Attraction is immoral.

Anna Richardson is a very good presenter and a pleasure to watch and listen to. It’s also slickly produced, fast and well put together.

So if you like it, I don’t mind it at all.

If I were asked, I would turn them down

But when you walk down the street, would you really like to see everyone’s genitals and whether they are big or small, or pierced or not?

My answer is: I really wouldn’t.

I’m not against nudity either. As my kids will tell you, I’m laissez-faire, and if someone wants to take off their clothes in front of other people who also want to take off their clothes, that’s fine.

I would feel guilty if I said no, sad if I deprived the nation of such a glorious, beautiful view!

Every now and then, a celebrity version of Naked Attraction is suggested.

According to host Anna, Duncan James once told her he would be willing to show his bits on screen if the call came.

If they asked me to appear with regret, I would have to turn them down.

I am a grandmother and a political commentator who has interviewed the Prime Minister.

But I would feel guilty if I said no, sad if I deprived the nation of such a glorious, beautiful view!

If you have an Amazon Fire TV device, there are plenty of ways to watch movies and shows for a fee.

But the Roku Channel app offers a huge library of content without you having to pay a dime.

It is free to download and there are no mandatory subscription fees either. The catch is that you have to watch ads.

The app may seem surprising considering Roku offers its own devices that compete with Amazon Fire TVs.

So it’s easy to miss that The Roku Channel is also available on plenty of other gadgets, including Amazon’s own streaming devices.

Roku says it has thousands of free movies and TV shows and offers more than 400 live channels.

According to Roku, these channels include “news, sports, cooking, DIY, music, reality TV, pop culture, true crime and sci-fi.”

You also get access to free Roku Originals, as well as Spanish-language content (including 65 live channels).

There’s the option to create an account so you get a more personalized experience, with Roku making recommendations based on what you’ve already watched.

Parental controls allow you to set up curated family-friendly content libraries so your kids can watch safely too.

CHANGE THE CHANNEL

‘You’re hampering your Wi-Fi,’ experts say as Amazon Fire TV owners said to follow the ’50 foot’ rule for the best internet

It’s not surprising that the Roku Channel has a high rating on Amazon.

It has a rating of 4.3/5 based on more than 146,000 reviews from around the world.

And only 7% of people who left reviews gave it one star, while the majority of people awarded it five stars.

One satisfied viewer said, “The Roku Channel is a cord-cutter’s dream come true. With its diverse content library, easy-to-use interface, and cross-device compatibility, it has become my favorite streaming service.

“If you want to break away from cable subscriptions without sacrificing content quality, The Roku Channel is a fantastic option. Happy streaming!”

Another overjoyed Amazon customer wrote, “Steaming is a dream come true! For a free app, I rate Roku as one of the top 3 FREE streaming channels I have on a regular basis.

“It has beautiful picture quality and doesn’t drop streaming signals at all (unlike Paramount)! Opens easily and has minimal advertising. I can’t say enough good things about Roku… and I don’t like it judgement apps normal!”

And a cheerful TV fan added: “One of the best things we’ve ever done!

Their review continued: “We love The Roku Channel, we can watch everything for free and can add channels we use.

“There are over 100 channels in the channel guide, but you can also search for something specific.

“It’s the best thing we’ve ever done. And if you want to get rid of that, extra money you pay for a satellite dish, this is it!”

As the future queen’s uncle, Gary Goldsmith will be the hottest ticket in the new series of Celebrity Big Brother, which starts tonight on ITV.

With Kate out of the spotlight as she recovers from abdominal surgery, royal fans will no doubt be hoping that the 58-year-old millionaire businessman, brother of Kate’s mother Carole Middleton, will open up about his relationship with his niece, whom he says he is ‘the most spectacular person I have ever met.’

Gary, who is reportedly worth £30million, has had a close relationship with the Princess of Wales over the years and attended her wedding to Prince William in 2011.

Kate was a bridesmaid at Goldsmith’s first wedding to sales manager Miranda Foote in 1991, and her uncle previously revealed how the heartbroken royal sought solace at his Ibiza villa after a split with William.

Kate is away from official royal engagements until after Easter following major surgery in January, with Kensington Palace insisting last week that she was still ‘doing well’.

She has not been seen at royal events since attending church at Sandringham with William and their children George, Charlotte and Louis on Christmas Day.

Mr Goldsmith He is said to have told friends he won’t do anything to hurt Kate or William, but he has attacked before Prince Harry And Meghan Markleand they could therefore now be in the line of fire.

The millionaire made most of his money from recruitment before selling his shares in 2005 for a reported £17 million, which he used to buy his Ibiza villa in 2006, named Maison de Bang Bang because of his penchant for wild parties.

Prince William and Kate stayed at Mr Goldsmith’s villa in Ibiza in 2006, and he has warm words for the future king, describing him as both “down-to-earth” and “charming.”

Mr Goldsmith was also a guest at William and Kate’s wedding at Westminster Abbey in 2011, and then at Kate’s sister Pippa Middleton’s wedding to James Matthews in 2017.

He has previously spoken out in support of Kate – including in the Mail on Sunday in March 2021 after Harry and Meghan’s infamous interview with Oprah Winfrey.

He said at the time: ‘I’ve known Kate since she was born and she doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. It’s just not in her nature.

‘She is even more beautiful on the inside than on the outside. If anyone had a hissy fit, it must have been Meghan. Kate is said to have tried to make peace. I would fight for Kate’s honor until the day I die. She is the most spectacular person I have ever met.”

He previously spoke out against Harry and Meghan following the release of Spare and is known for his outspoken opinions on the couple. Writing for the Mail last year, he branded Harry’s autobiography Spare as ‘prickly, egotistical…fluff’.

Him too spoke out after the latest series of The Crown, which portrayed Carole as the schemer behind Kate and William’s relationship.

“First and foremost, Kate did a fantastic job getting into St. Andrews. She’s a great girl, but it went unnoticed.’

In 2013, Gary revealed details about the then Duchess of Cambridge in an interview with Hello! Magazine.

He shed light on ‘The Kate I Know’ and the early days of her relationship with William in a deal negotiated by Goldsmith’s agent, with the interview and photoshoot taking place at his villa in Ibiza.

Over sixteen pages he told how the young couple enjoyed mud baths on the island, William’s gig as a DJ for the family – and how Kate had walked around the pool during her short break with William.

He said William “absolutely loved the villa” and even credited the villa with bringing the royal couple back together.

“It’s a nice place and it has a really nice atmosphere and you can hear the sea at night,” he explained.

“So in some way I hope my being here has helped. This was June, and she and William finally got back together in July, so the timing suggests the holidays played a role. Wouldn’t that be brilliant?’

Show insiders say producers are happy to have secured him as a contestant because of his ties to the royal family – and his penchant for speaking his mind as they look to create a dramatic series.

A source said The sun: ‘The CBB team love him for his link with Kate and the fact that he is confident, loud and won’t hold back.

“He has made it clear that he will talk about anything and everything, and he is quite outspoken when it comes to Harry and Meghan.

“Gary also has a deep affection for Kate and Wills and will be able to provide a fascinating insight into what it’s really like to be related to the future King and Queen.”

Mr Goldsmith has reportedly signed up for the ITV reboot alongside Loose Women’s Linda Robson and X Factor judges Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne.

Other housemates touted to appear at the series launch include Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh, Ekin-Su Culculoglu, Bradley Riches, Nikita Kuzmin and Colson Smith.

He made his money building an IT recruitment company but has been embroiled in scandals, including the 2009 drug photo in Ibiza.

He was also arrested in October 2017 after allegedly attacking his fourth wife, Julie-Ann, outside their London home.

Mr Goldsmith punched her to the ground after she accused him of taking drugs during a drunken fight outside their home.

He later pleaded guilty to assault by beating and was fined £5,000 and given a 12-month community order with 20 rehabilitation sessions.

It comes as royal experts warned that Mr Goldsmith’s appearance on CBB could affect Kate’s recovery after her surgery.

Phil Dampier told MailOnline today: ‘The last thing the Princess of Wales needs right now is her uncle talking about her on Celebrity Big Brother.

‘And I’m not surprised by the reports that her mother Carole is not happy about her brother being in the house.

“I’m sure he’ll go there determined to say nothing but nice things about her and William, as he has done in the past. And he probably plans to criticize Harry and Meghan if he gets the chance.

‘But after a few days his tongue may loosen and he may say things he later regrets.’

The commentator also warned that ‘any indication about Kate’s medical condition will not end well for her or William’, adding: ‘I’m sure Gary wants to support his family but giving them more publicity isn’t what’s going on at the moment they want to. .’

Mr Dampier said it would be interesting to know whether Mr Goldsmith consulted Carole or Kate before deciding to enter the house, which “presumably he does for the money”.

And he continued: ‘He has embarrassed them in the past with his misdeeds at Maison de Bang Bang, but he has cleaned up his act in recent years and mainly stayed out of the spotlight.

‘Big Brother bosses will want him to spill the beans – why else would he be there? – but Kate and William will hope he manages to be sensible and focus on other housemates and their problems.’

A spokesperson for Celebrity Big Brother told MailOnline: ‘All names are pure speculation at this time and viewers will have to tune in to see who enters the Celebrity Big Brother house.’

A pregnant lawyer who plunged to her death after being thrown of a cliff at a picturesque tourist site by her abusive husband will be the subject of a chilling new documentary.

Fawziyah Javed, from Leeds, was thrown 50ft off Arthur’s Seat in September 2021, following a horrific campaign of abuse by her partner, Kashif Anwar.

The 31-year-old employment lawyer was 17-weeks pregnant with her first child when she fell to her death at the hands of ‘jealous, evil and insecure’ Anwar.

Anwar, now 31, was jailed for at least 20 years after being found guilty of murder during a trial at the High Court in Edinburgh.

The cold-blooded murder of Fawziyah Javed will be explored in The Push: Murder on the Cliff, which also follows Anwar’s trial and his conviction.

Fawziyah helped jail her partner from beyond the grave by collecting evidence of the years of bullying and oppression she endured – but what led Anwar to kill and how was his violent outbursts and tirade of abuse eventually brought to light?

Fawziyah Javed, from Leeds, was thrown 50ft off Arthur’s Seat in September 2021, after a horrific campaign of abuse by her partner, Kashif Anwar

Who was Fawziyah Javed?

Fawziyah Javed was a 31-year-old employment lawyer from Leeds, and was known for her active involvement in supporting a wide range of charities throughout her adult years.

Fawziyah had married the then 29-year-old Anwar, an optical assistant, in an Islamic ceremony on 25 December 2020.

Five months after the wedding, Fawziyah became pregnant by Anwar, with the pair expecting their first child together.

Just four months later, in September 2021, Fawziyah was pushed 50ft to her death from a Scottish landmark by her ‘abusive, controlling, manipulative, aggressive and violent’ husband.

What happened to Fawziyah Javed?

On 2 September 2021, Fawziyah and Anwar, had travelled to the Scottish capital, Edinburgh for a mini-break to celebrate her upcoming 32nd birthday.

It was by this point a fatigued Fawziyah had expressed to Anwar she did not want to be with him anymore, and asked him for a divorce.

Fawziyah’s mother, Yasmin Javed, told BBC News that her daughter had previously contacted divorce lawyers to ‘get the ball rolling’ but Anwar always said he would never grant her wish.

The mother said: ‘He used to say to Fawziyah, we don’t have divorces in our family, we don’t divorce, we stay in marriages, no matter what.’

Despite Fawziyah’s fear of heights while being over three months pregnant, the lawyer accompanied her husband when he suggested they visit the rocky summit of Arthur’s Seat, a landmark that offers sprawling views over Edinburgh.

It was at the peak of the cliff that Kashif Anwar pushed his pregnant wife over the edge, where she died a short time later from the injuries she sustained.

Daniyah Rafique, 24, managed to reach the dying employment lawyer on the side of the hill, where she was told: ‘Don’t let my husband near me, he pushed me.’

In a 999 call, later played in court, Anwar tells an operator his wife had slipped on Arthur’s Seat and that he tried to save her.

He said: ‘Fawziyah’s just on the edge of the cliff, man. We both just slipped, I tried grabbing her arm and she fell.

‘We both technically slipped and then I tried grabbing her arm and she went sideways.’

How did Fawziyah Javed’s killer Kashif Anwar eventually get convicted?

It was thanks to the mountain of evidence against her abusive husband Fawziyah had collected that he was convicted for her murder.

Alex Prentice KC, the lead prosecutor in the case, said evidence collated by the victim in the months leading up to the murder was crucial to securing Anwar’s conviction.

Detective Inspector Bob Williamson from Police Scotland, who was in charge of inquiries into Fawziyah’s fall, said deaths like hers are very difficult to investigate.

He said: ‘When there is only one person who truly knows what happened and they choose to lie, the investigation then relies on largely circumstantial evidence.

However, Fawziyah had secretly recorded phone calls of Anwar threatening her and went to the police twice so that there was a record of his abusive behaviour, although she didn’t want them to intervene at that point.

The second police report was made just days before Anwar killed the employment lawyer from Leeds on the weekend away to Edinburgh.

Leading up to the tragedy, Anwar had been repeatedly violent: on one occasion – only three months after their wedding – he knocked his wife unconscious in a graveyard.

On another occasion, Anwar positioned a pillow around her head before punching it repeatedly.

Without the mountain of evidence Fawziyah had accumulated before her untimely death, it would have been unlikely that Anwar would have faced a conviction

The court also heard Anwar withdrew £12,000 from her bank account while she was sleeping.

In one blood-curdling voice recording, Fawziyah is heard saying, ‘You’ve ruined my life,’ to which Anwar replies: ‘I’ll tell you one thing. You end this and I will ruin yours.’

In a recording Fawziyah secretly made, her husband had told her to stop behaving like a British woman.

Anwar can be heard telling his wife: ‘Who do you think you are? You’re not a man… so come back tomorrow like you’ve been told.’

His wife asks, ‘What’s your problem?’ before Anwar responds, ‘My problem? Don’t challenge me, do not be that British woman. Because I’m telling you, it will not work. I promise it will not work. It won’t work with me.’

Only months before her death, Anwar had chillingly told Fawziyah: ‘The sooner you’re dead or the sooner you’re out of my life, it’ll be better.’

Fawziyah’s mother claimed Anwar resented the solicitor being an independent, well-educated young woman.

‘He didn’t like the fact that Fawzi had her own voice, her own opinions. He didn’t like that,’ she said.

At the High Court in Edinburgh, Judge Lord Beckett sentenced Kashif Anwar to life imprisonment for the murder of Fawziyah Javed, with eligibility to be considered for parole set at 20 years.

Speaking in the new Channel 4 Documentary, which was granted access to the trial earlier this year, Mr Prentice said: ‘Fawziyah collected a great deal of evidence which formed the pillar of the prosecution case.

‘I have prosecuted many murder cases over the course of my career but for a variety of reasons this case is extraordinary.’

Asked if Anwar would have been found guilty without Fawziyah’s evidence, he said: ‘It would have been very difficult.’

The Push: Murder on the Cliff premieres on Channel 4 on March 3 and 4 at 9pm.
