Becky, who is nominated for Best Dance Act at the BRIT Awards this Saturday, took home a whopping £313,000 every month last year.

This summer the Better Of Without You hitmaker will be appearing at a number of festivals before taking to the stage for her UK arena tour.

Becky’s assets have risen from £1.6 million last financial year to £3.8 million, according to new documents filed at Companies House for her company, Eko Music Ltd, last week.

Becky, who previously scooped the Best Dance Act gongs at the 2022 and 2023 BRIT Awards, has surpassed the majority of nominees in her category this year.

During the ceremony, held at London’s O2 Arena, Becky will take to the stage to perform a ‘celebration of drum and bass’ alongside Chase & Status.

Becky is no stranger to the bash, having previously performed alongside David Guetta at The BRITs in 2023.

She said: “I can’t wait to perform at the BRITs again and it was tough flying from the ceiling of the O2 last year, but I’m excited about what we have planned for this year’s performance.

“I’ve been a lifelong fan of Chase and Status, so it will be really special to see them perform on stage with me. It’s a true celebration of drum and bass – my favorite genre of music!’

“It’s a representation of where British music is at, at the highest level, so it’s an honor to be in that category. Performing with Becky, a fellow BRIT nominee, is also pretty special.

Maya Jama is joined by seasoned presenters Roman Kemp and Clara Amfo as the trio hosts the iconic music evening.

The BRIT Awards 2024 with Mastercard will take place on Saturday 2 March – again in a primetime weekend slot – broadcast live on ITV1, STV, ITVX and STV Player – from the O2 Arena.

Growing older brings with it various health problems. But this sedentary lifestyle has made even teenagers more susceptible to developing certain health problems. One of these is glaucoma. It is an eye condition that damages the optic nerve and can lead to vision loss. But if you see well, does that mean you will never get glaucoma? Does it only happen in old age? Well, there is no guarantee for these claims.

Early detection is crucial to prevent irreversible blindness. Currently, glaucoma is a leading global cause of vision impairment, affecting 80 million people and responsible for 12.3 percent of global blindness. In India, the prevalence is remarkable: twelve million people are affected, with an estimated 40 to 50 percent of cases going undetected. Dr. Kamala Subramanian, Head of Glaucoma Department Sankara Eye Hospital, Shimoga, speaks to IANS and debunks some common myths surrounding glaucoma, providing clarity and promoting proactive eye care.

Myth 1: Glaucoma only comes from a strong family history

Fact: Contrary to popular belief, glaucoma is not solely tied to genetic factors. Although a family history of glaucoma may increase an individual's risk, it is essential to recognize that other factors also play a substantial role in the onset of this eye condition. Long-term use of steroids for asthma, medications for rheumatoid arthritis, autoimmune diseases, skin conditions, and a history of eye damage can also contribute to the development of glaucoma.

Myth 2: No alternatives when medications fail

Fact: There should be no panic if symptoms appear. Surgical and laser procedures are available to slow the disease when medications prove insufficient. Consulting an expert ophthalmologist can lead to appropriate treatments and prevent irreversible blindness.

Myth 3: Glaucoma only occurs when you have elevated intraocular pressure (IOP).

Fact: Glaucoma results from damage to the optic nerve, not just from high IOP. The increase in pressure occurs due to the accumulation of aqueous humor, causing damage to the optic nerve.

Myth 4: People with good eyesight will not develop glaucoma

Fact: Glaucoma can affect anyone, even if you have good vision. Just because you have perfect eyesight doesn't mean you won't develop glaucoma, because people won't notice the symptoms until the disease has reached a moderate or advanced stage.

Myth 5: Glaucoma can be cured through dietary changes

Fact: Glaucoma cannot be cured with dietary adjustments alone. Although a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet, is beneficial for overall well-being, it cannot replace medical treatment for glaucoma.

Myth 6: Glaucoma only affects the elderly

Fact: Glaucoma can affect individuals aged 20 to 50 years and even infants due to irregular eye development. It can affect people of all ages, even newborns. Certainly, open-angle glaucoma mainly occurs in older people. Some babies develop congenital glaucoma, while other children have other eye diseases that can lead to secondary glaucoma. There are different types of glaucoma that affect different age groups.

Myth 7: Uncontrolled cataracts can cause glaucoma and irreversible vision loss

Fact: Cataracts and glaucoma are different conditions. Cataracts are the result of clouding of the lens of the eye, which causes vision problems. Both share common risk factors, but one does not change into the other. Cataracts are treatable and develop as a result of aging, usually after the age of 40. While glaucoma can occur regardless of age and people with diabetes are at greater risk of developing glaucoma.

Myth 8: Excessive screen time increases the risk of glaucoma

Fact: There is no scientific evidence linking excess screen time to glaucoma. However, patients with myopia (myopia) who spend extended periods of time in front of screens may be at risk.

In summary, clarifying the difference between misconceptions and realities about glaucoma is crucial to maintaining optimal eye health. Increasing awareness about the potential risk factors and symptoms of glaucoma is essential for early detection and successful management. Regular eye exams and promoting proactive measures are necessary to protect vision and prevent irreversible damage from glaucoma. If there is a significant family history of glaucoma, it is imperative that the next generation undergo comprehensive glaucoma testing in addition to routine screenings.

A handsome math teacher from Missouri has been arrested in Texas and accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old high school student.

Hailey Nichelle Clifton-Carmack, 26, of Waynesville, near St. Louis, was arrested Friday in Comal County by Garden Ridge police.

The assaults are said to have taken place in Pulaski County, Missouri, about 800 miles from where she was arrested by police.

In a further twist to the case, the teenage boy’s father has also been charged with endangering the welfare of a child after it was alleged he knew his son was in a relationship with the teacher.

Court documents show the teen and teacher had sex during school and used other students as “lookouts.” K.R.C.G.

According to court records, Pulaski County police were contacted by the Laquey school employee, who reported the relationship to police.

A student came forward and showed photos of his classmate with scratches on his back to police.

The teen said the scratches came from Clifton-Carmack after he had sex with the teacher in his classmate’s driveway.

Clifton-Carmack, who has two young daughters of her own, recently divorced after marrying Chance Carmack.

Detectives visited the school district on December 8 to talk to the teacher and took her phone, but until police obtained a warrant to unlock the phone, they were unable to see any incriminating messages.

Clifton-Carmack denied at the time that he had any relationships with students outside of school.

After obtaining a warrant, police found text messages related to the alleged relationship with the 16-year-old boy.

The student who came forward to report the relationship said the teacher “is too friendly to the students and sometimes dresses inappropriately at school.”

According to court documents, Clifton-Carmack often wore “tight or low-cut shirts” to show off her “headlights.”

She also wore tight leggings that “showed off her body,” and was often reprimanded by school administrators for being “too close to the students.”

Clifton-Carmack left Missouri to go to Texas to visit family around December 23 and had not returned by January 3.

Clifton-Carmack was arrested Friday after fleeing Missouri for Texas.

The Laquey R5 School District teacher was arrested “without incident” and booked into the Comal County Jail. She was charged with sexual contact with a female student, statutory rape in the second degree, endangering the welfare of a child, and child abuse/being more than four years older than a victim under the age of 17.

The teen boy’s father may also face charges after reportedly knowing about his son’s alleged relationship with the teachers.

‘[Mark] Creighton was aware of the relationship between his minor child and the 26-year-old teacher and instead of passing on the information, he continued to vouch for them and allowed the relationship to continue” and “even allowed Hailey to his residence to see the victim while he was present,” according to court documents.

He was arrested in Missouri and charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Mark Creighton has been told he has no contact with Clifton-Carmack.

These charges carry a prison sentence of three to 10 years.

“We have been made aware of criminal charges filed against an employee for alleged misconduct,” said Kent Stoumbaugh, superintendent of the Laquey R-5 School District.

“We understand that charges are not the same as a conviction and that the employee should be considered innocent until proven guilty. However, we must emphasize that the alleged misconduct is inexcusable and does not meet professional standards for district employees.

‘The district took immediate action when we became aware of this situation. An investigation is underway. The employee has not been to the neighborhood since December 8, 2023 and we do not expect her return. We strive to ensure that every individual is treated with respect, kindness and fairness so that everyone feels safe and welcome in our schools.”

Kolhapur: The Pro Kabaddi League has not only focused on developing a robust player pool through various initiatives such as Future Kabaddi Heroes, but has also built a fantastic group of technical officials over the last nine years. Just as the players view the Pro Kabaddi League as an aspirational career, the technical officials have also been able to view the league as a suitable career option.
Pro Kabaddi League Technical Director E Prasad Rao identified the need for a high standard of referees for a world-class competition and explained how the organizers created PKL Referee Training Camps.

“Ahead of Season 1, we conducted a coaching course to get the technical officials used to the innovative rule changes such as 30-second raids and do-or-die raids implemented in the Pro Kabaddi League. We selected about thirty officials from among those who conducted the course. More than 100 people attended the workshop, which lasted about a week. This was the first workshop for technical officers of PKL.”

Rao further detailed the changes in referee training programs over the course of the last nine seasons: “We plan to appoint a total of 42 officials for Season 10, while in Season 1 we had a total of 35 officials. for technical officials has changed over the years due to technological advancements in the game. We have had to learn how to use the different cameras at our disposal.”

Building on building the group of technical officials and identifying new talent, the Pro Kabaddi League organized a referee training camp in Kolhapur ahead of the milestone tenth season, which kicks off in December. The camp, in which around 38 officials prepared for season 10, was conducted by E Prasad Rao from November 18 to 29, 2023.

Talking about the preparations of the officials for the tenth season, Rao said, “We conducted three online workshops ahead of the referee training camp in Kolhapur. The referees were divided into two groups: new officials and experienced PKL officials. Through these workshops we have identified ten talented referees. These referees will be performing in PKL for the first time this year.”

When asked about the training camp schedule, the technical director said: “From 6:30 am to 8:30 am, the officials underwent a physical activity to develop their speed, agility and reaction time. Between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., the officials attended a theory session, during which match situations were analyzed. The final session of the day was then held between 5:00 PM and 7:30 PM, during which the referees underwent practical exercises by officiating matches between club teams.”
