The lead rescuer deployed to find five Swiss skiers who died in a brutal Alpine storm has described how the doomed crew desperately tried to make an igloo for shelter but panicked and became delirious before ultimately freezing to death.

Air Zermatt chief Anjan Truffer explained how his team discovered several bodies scattered on the mountain after the six-person strong group, five from the same family, pushed on with a tour despite hurricane-force winds of up to 70mph being forecast.

‘First we found two people lying on the snow, severely hypothermic. Thanks to sounding poles and avalanche locators, we later found two more people lying under the snow cover. We had to shovel these out.

‘Another person was lying about 30 meters away. When we found the people, they were very lightly dressed… they ended up disorientated at high altitude,’ he told Swiss outlet NZZ.

He added that the ski tourers had tried to build a cave and protect themselves from the gales – in temperatures of -30 degrees C with windchill – to no avail.

‘That’s actually a good idea. But the group didn’t have the necessary equipment with them. They had shovels, but they were too light to do anything with this massive blanket of snow. Panic might’ve broken out and the group scattered,’ Truffer concluded.

Mountain guide Klaus Aufdenblatten told Blick that the ski tourers were grossly underprepared for the ill-advised trip.

‘The alpinists completely underestimated the weather conditions. The wind in particular can develop enormous power,’ he warned.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the identities of all the deceased, but two victims were named as Jean-Vincent Moix and his brother David by friends and colleagues on social media.

Another brother, a cousin and an uncle were also killed in the tragedy and a sixth person is still missing.

The skiers, five of them members of the same family, went missing around Tete Blanche mountain on Saturday on the Zermatt-Arolla path, near the Matterhorn mountain that straddles the border between Switzerland and Italy

The group of six skiers, who ranged in age from 21 to 58, had left Zermatt Saturday morning with the goal of reaching the town of Arolla, near the Matterhorn mountain, later that day.

But as the group passed close to the Tete Blanche, a mountain peak between Zermatt and Arolla, the region was engulfed in a brutal storm that left the skiers stranded at an altitude of around 11,400ft (3,500 metres).

A member of the group sent a distress call to emergency services around 5pm on Saturday afternoon, authorities said, but helicopters and rescue teams were unable to deploy, such was the ferocity of the storm.

By the time a rescue team finally reached the mountain on Sunday evening, five of the six alpine enthusiasts had perished close to the Dent Blanche alpine cabin.

Colleagues of Jean-Vincent paid tribute to him yesterday, including the mayor of Vex – a small village in the Swiss canton of Valais where the deceased had only recently been elected as a councillor.

The former private banker, who was also educated at the University of Westminster, was a keen mountaineer and had decided to switch careers.

Mayor Sebastien Menoud said: ‘It is such a huge tragedy to lose a colleague on the local council.

‘Our thoughts are with him, his family and those around him and we express our deepest condolences to them.

‘One knows that it is an immeasurable pain that his family is now confronted with.’

David also lived in Vex, and was a lawyer.

A friend of the brothers, Lucas Nanchen, posted on Facebook: ‘Why is it always the best ones leave first?

‘David (like his brothers) was the epitome of selflessness, always listening. David was very generous. Lowkey he never came forward and yet he could have.

‘The mountains of his region, which he knew by heart and cherished so much, took him away.

Last night, a group of around 300 people in Vex gathered for a memorial procession, laying candles before listening to a performance by a local brass band, of which Jean-Vincent was a member.

Christian Varone, head of Valais cantonal police, told reporters yesterday that rescue workers had pulled out all the stops to try to reach the stranded skiers on Saturday evening but faced horrendous conditions.

‘We were trying the impossible,’ he said, adding that the mission had pushed its efforts ‘to the extreme, extreme limit’, but were forced to turn around to avoid ‘seriously endangering the lives of the rescue workers’.

‘Sometimes you have to bow before nature.’

Truffer confirmed that emergency services received a distress signal from one of the skiers at around 5:19pm local time on Saturday.

This, he said, gave rescuers a rough location in the Col de Tete Blanche, whose peak stands at 12,160ft above sea level.

Truffer told Blick that the weather was so bad that flying in to rescue the skiers simply wasn’t an option.

He said there were ‘very strong winds, heavy snow, high avalanche danger, and zero visibility’ which would leave rescuers ‘dead in two minutes’.

He added that when the group left Zermatt, the bad weather conditions were already known and he believes that the skiers were caught in the storm rather than struck by an avalanche.

With helicopters unable to brave the storm, five rescuers had tried to reach the rough location on foot from Zermatt, but they too were forced to turn back at an altitude of 9,840ft due to the bad weather, according to local media reports.

On Sunday, a team consisting of two rescue workers, a doctor and a mountain police officer, was finally able to be dropped off by helicopter nearby, police said.

‘At around 9:20 pm, it reached the Tete Blanche sector, where it discovered the bodies of five of the six people who were missing,’ it said in a statement.

The search is continuing for the last member of the group.

‘As long as there is hope we will keep going… while remaining realistic in view of the conditions this person has been in for the past 48 hours,’ Varone said.

Fredy-Michel Roten from the Valais Rescue Organisation told local press that six private rescue helicopters and two Swiss army Super Puma choppers are participating in the rescue mission along with dozens of specialist mountaineers.

The group of skiers, who ranged in age from 21 to 58, had left Zermatt Saturday morning with the goal of reaching the town of Arolla later that day

Valais lead prosecutor Beatrice Pilloud told reporters that an investigation had been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Zermatt is a popular mountain resort renowned for skiing and attracts tourists from around the world.

Tete Blanche in particular is very popular with ski tourers who are attracted by the region’s renowned landscape and the challenging terrain it offers.

The region hosts the esteemed Patrouille des Glaciers race, which sees ski tourers traverse a route from Zermatt through Arolla and on to Verbier.

But the area is notoriously difficult to navigate during periods of poor visibility, and has proven fatal for even highly experienced skiers and mountaineers.

Nearly five years ago, tragedy struck when 14 members from two ski touring parties became disoriented amidst a fierce storm on treacherous slopes.

The ensuing rescue operation endured for almost 21 gruelling hours before reaching the stranded groups.

Seven people died, while the rest were evacuated with varying degrees of injury.

The Brit Awards 2024 were filled with many memorable moments this year as the stars returned to the 02 Arena for the biggest night in music.

Raye was the big winner on the night, scooping six gongs as she made an emotional appearance on stage.

This year’s ceremony was hosted by Clara Amfo, Maya Jama and Roman Kemp who took the helm on the big night.

There were plenty of big moments including Roman’s savage dig at Christian Horner, Raye’s appearance on stage with her grandma and Kylie Minogue’s hilarious ‘shoey’ drinking moment.

Here MailOnline takes a look at all the viral moment from the Brit Awards 2024:

Roman Kemp makes savage dig at Christian Horner

Roman Kemp made a dig at the Christian Horner scandal which is currently dominating the headlines, during the BRIT Awards on Saturday night.

The Capital Radio host was part of the presenting team, alongside Maya Jama and Clara Amfo, for the star-studded ceremony at London’s O2 which was broadcast on ITV.

Roman made a cheeky quip about Red Bull boss Christian during the live show, which took place just hours after Horner put on a united front at the Bahrain Grand Prix with his wife Geri Halliwell.

Whilst milling around the guests at the ceremony, Roman quipped: ‘It’s busier here than at team Red Bull’s press office.’

It comes amid allegations relating to the leak of hundreds of WhatsApp messages which appeared to be written by Horner to a female colleague.

Horner, who has always denied the claims, said previously: ‘I have the support of an incredible family, an incredible wife, an incredible team and everybody within that team.

‘And my focus is going on racing, winning racing and doing the best I can. It was a day about starting the season in he best possible way. My focus is on this team, my family, my wife and racing.’

Emotional Raye brings her grandmother up on stage

Raye called her grandmother Agatha Dawson to the stage with her as she collected Album Of The Year at the Brits on Saturday – and viewers at home were left in tears.

Looking at her grandmother, the singer, 26, said through tears: ‘I want to thank my grandma for her prayers. My grandma is awake until 3AM praying for me and my beautiful sisters. I love you so much.’

Raye, who wore a stunning white gown, then looked to the audience and revealed: ‘My middle name is Agatha and this Agatha Dawson, ladies and gentlemen.’

She stood back and allowed Agatha, who looked beautiful in traditional Ghanaian kente cloth, to bask in the rapturous applause that filled all corners of the O2.

Emotional fans took to X, formerly Twitter, and said: ‘Not me sitting here crying for raye no one deserves it more than her!!! and shoutout to grandma in the kente!!!’

Roman Kemp ‘insults’ Green Day while hosting

Viewers were left less than impressed by another Roman quip on Saturday night.

The presenter called Green Day ‘the America Busted’ igniting the fury of fans of the hugely successful US band.

Tré Cool and Billie Joe Armstrong of the American pop punk band attended the award ceremony to present the Best British Group award, with Roman introducing them.

‘To present our next award for British group are two genuine rock gods,’ he said.

‘They have sold over 75 million records and released 14 albums – they are very much the American Busted. Please welcome from Green Day, Billie Joe Armstrong and Tré Cool.’

Viewers weren’t impressed with the joke, with one tweeting: ‘I think Green Day being called ‘the American Busted’ might be the most insulting thing I’ve ever heard. Ever. #BritAwards.’

Kylie Minogue does a ‘shoey’ on national TV

She spends most of her time living in the UK, but Kylie Minogue proved she still calls Australia home during the 2024 Brit Awards on Saturday night.

The 55-year-old music icon, who won the BRITs’ Global Icon award, stunned fans by agreeing to participate in the Aussie ritual of drinking alcohol out of a shoe during the awards ceremony in London.

Host Roman Kemp convinced Kylie to drink her signature rosé wine from her high heels during an interview with the pop star at her table, saying it would be ‘amiss’ for the pair to not ‘go with an Aussie tradition’.

‘So will Kylie Minogue do a shoey with me at the Brits? If I ask for your shoe, can I do that?’ Kemp, asked.

Kylie appeared hesitant at first, asking the crowd: ‘Do I do this?’ before Kemp held out a pair of black stilettos and filled them with alcohol.

Proving she’s a good sport, the All The Lovers hitmaker clinked stilettos with the host and drank the entire shoe in one gulp.

Later in the evening, Kylie closed the show with an energetic medley of her most famous hits with viewers rightly branding her a ‘legend’ after she last performed at the ceremony in 2008.

She looked sensational as she flaunted her age-defying figure in a skimpy white bodysuit which boasted sheer panels.

Falsely accused sub-postmistress hits out on stage

A former sub-postmistress, who was wrongly accused of stealing £36,000 during the Post Office Horizon scandal, took to the stage at the BRIT Awards on Saturday to accuse the government of lying about paying back postmasters.

Jo Hamilton, whose shocking story was told in ITV’s Mr Bates vs The Post Office, presented the first award on the biggest night in British music.

The wronged subpostmistress was joined onstage by Monica Dolan, the actress who played her character in the hit drama which delved into the scandal.

The 66-year-old told the large crowd at London’s O2 Arena: ‘I want to thank everyone in the country for the love and the support they have given the postmasters.

‘Please can you keep on supporting us because, despite what the Government says, they’re not paying the postmasters.’

The audience, who loudly cheered the mother-of-two as she started speaking, then booed after they heard her claims about the Government’s reluctance to remunerate victims of the scandal.

MailOnline has contacted the Department of Business and Trade for comment.

Mrs Hamilton was falsely accused of taking the money from the Post Office branch she ran in South Warnborough, Hampshire.

She eventually pleaded guilty to false accounting in fear of going to jail and was prosecuted in 2006.

The subpostmistress and her husband were forced to remortgage their house twice, borrow money from friends and take £6,000 in donations from the village in order to pay back what was lost.

Calvin Harris ‘drinks Harry Styles’ bathwater’ in Saltburn reference

Roman Kemp made Calvin Harris drink a ‘bottle of Harry Styles’ bath water’ in one funny moment.

In a reference to the film Saltburn Roman sat with DJ Calvin and his wife Vick Hope at their table where he said he wanted to do some shots with him.

He said it was a ‘non alcoholic’ drink and didn’t give anymore details until after when he brought out a bottle labelled ‘Harry Styles’ bath water’.

Roman said: ‘I know, it is alcohol free, it is at one with the body. I have a mocktail for you. Are you ready for this one?’

They both downed the shots, then Roman quipped: ‘It is a little be salty.’

He then picked up the bottle and held it up to the camera.

Roman told Calvin: ‘I call it the Saltburn. It is a special brew.’

Roman said ahead of hosting the show: ‘This is a real pinch me moment! Hosting the BRIT Awards – what an honour.

‘I remember watching the BRITs on TV when I was growing up so to be asked to host this year’s awards, is a dream come true.

‘It’s going to be a privilege to share the stage with so many talented artists and to celebrate the incredible achievements of all the nominees and winners this year. See you there.’

Worrying forecasts and technical problems with remote schools gave way to sunshine in New York City on Tuesday afternoon as the storm moved out of the area without as much drama as initially feared.

Snow totals reached 3.5 inches in Central Park – less than expected, but still the city's highest snowfall in two years.

The thin white blanket quickly turned to muddy sludge on city streets as residents dutifully shoved it off cars and sidewalks. The snow had considerably more staying power in the city's parks, and by midday dozens of children had overtaken the snowy hills of Brooklyn's Prospect Park. They raced down the slopes on colorful plastic sleds and inflatable tubes, throwing snowballs at each other and rolling snowmen into formation.

“It's exciting to actually have some snow to go sledding,” said Simon Bacchus, 47, whose 4-year-old son Kai nibbled on snow while in a sled.

With forecasters predicting up to 8 inches of snow in the city, New Yorkers had prepared for busy commutes and possible power outages, but such problems never materialized. The subways ran fine and few problems were reported with the streets, although some travelers did experience flight cancellations at the region's airports.

The mess was largely confined to the city's attempt to transition public schools to a remote learning day. Problems logging into classes frustrated many parents, who then decided to bail their children and take them out.

While some children adjusted to a inconsistent school day, others had to navigate significant snow for the first time.

Victoria Roberts, 38, and her husband, Alex, brought their son Julian to McCarren Park in Williamsburg. Julian, 3, was decked out in a snow jacket and pants decorated with dinosaurs, but he was adjusting to his snow boots, which he said were uncomfortable.

“He's still figuring it out,” Mrs. Roberts said. “He has to learn: this is only his third winter.”

“Okay, okay, we get it. It's wrong to leave mean comments or post comments just to gain influence – or keep your mouth shut on a podcast and you don't think about the impact because you're 24 and stupid,” Edebiri exclaimed as the crowd cheered. “But I think I speak for everyone when I say that from now on we will be much more thoughtful about what we post online.”

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has called on Australians to boycott Woolworths after the supermarket revealed it would no longer sell Australia Day merchandise.

Mr Dutton told it 2GB he would ‘advise’ [Australians] very strongly to take your business elsewhere’, describing the controversial decision as ‘a shame’.

“It’s up to the customers whether they want to buy the product or not… I think people should boycott Woolworths.”

Australia’s largest supermarket, which also owns Big W, confirmed on Wednesday that all items associated with the January 26 celebration will not be on shelves.

A spokesman claimed there was no longer demand for merchandise, but Mr Dutton said CEO Brad Banducci appeared to be trying to “follow the mold of Alan Joyce” and impress Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

Mr Joyce stepped aside as Qantas CEO in 2023 amid several controversies, including questions about his close relationship with the Prime Minister.

For many First Nations people, Australia Day is considered ‘Invasion Day’ or the ‘Day of Mourning’ (photo: people at a rally against the Voice to Parliament in September)

“Until we get the common sense out of a company like Woolworths, I don’t think they should be supported by the public,” Dutton said.

‘As we’ve seen with Alan Joyce and Qantas, it seems these CEOs are out to please the Prime Minister with these stupid decisions, and that doesn’t make sense to me.

“For Woolworths to take political positions to oppose Australia Day… is contrary to the national spirit. “I think most Australians just want to go to Woolies and get their groceries at the lowest price possible because most are currently struggling to pay the bill when they get to the checkout.”

The opposition leader is calling on Mr Banducci to step forward and reverse the decision, while also acknowledging it was a ‘bad decision’.

Mr Dutton noted that Woolworths was among a group of major companies – including Qantas – who publicly came out in support of the Indigenous Voice to Parliament during the referendum campaign.

At the time, the supermarket also faced a barrage of criticism, and was later defeated by The Voice, with 60 percent of Australians voting against the proposal.

Fellow Voice critic Matthew Sheahan, who helped lead the No campaign to victory, told Daily Mail Australia that pulling Australia Day merchandise from shelves after Voice’s loss was “adding insult to injury.”

“When are the corporate elites who run companies like Woolies going to learn their lesson?” he said.

“Rather than ease the pressure on Aussies for livelihoods, Woolworths has poured $1.55 million into the losing Yes campaign.

“Now they’re making it worse.”

Mr Sheahan is now campaigning for Australia Day to be ‘protected by law’.

More to come

The retailer said

The retailer said “broader discussions about what January 26 means for different parts of the community” played a role in the decision

On India’s stand on global issues like Ukraine crisis and Gaza war, Prime Minister Modi said he has always advocated honest dialogue and sincere diplomacy.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it clear that ‘Modi’s guarantee’ is not just a gimmick to ensure political victory. Instead, it symbolizes the faith and trust that poor citizens place in him. He also responded to criticism from the Opposition on issues like unemployment and inflation, highlighting that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) enjoys impressive national appeal. Prime Minister Modi further underlined his driving force – the faith that the most disadvantaged sections of society have in him – in an interview with India Today.

“Modi’s guarantee is not a formula to win elections; Modi’s guarantee is the trust of the poor. Today, every poor person in the country knows that Modi will not fulfill his duty. This trust of the poor also gives me the energy, so even if I exhaust myself completely or push myself beyond my limit, I would not let this trust be violated,” he said.

PM Modi’s ‘Modi Ki Guarantee’

The Prime Minister had spoken about the ‘Modi ki guarantee’ during his election rallies in assembly elections in five states last month, saying it is a guarantee that the promise made will be kept. The BJP ousted the Congress from power in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, won a handsome victory in Madhya Pradesh and improved its performance in Telangana.

Referring to the government’s plans and initiatives aimed at making Indian industry more globally competitive, he said infrastructure creation is happening at an unprecedented pace and all sectors are doing much better than they were a decade ago.

“It is well known that infrastructure investments have a major multiplier impact on growth and employment. That is why we have been continuously increasing capital investment,” Prime Minister Modi said.
He said reforms should focus on improving people’s lives.

“As a result of such reforms, India’s growth has accelerated at a rapid pace,” said Prime Minister Modi, exuding confidence in India’s ability to become a $5 trillion economy.

The Indian Presidency of the G20

Speaking about the success of India’s G20 chairmanship, the Prime Minister said that India could focus on people-oriented development.

“We have succeeded in bringing the focus on people-centered development to the global agenda. We have led developed and developing countries to reach consensus. We have revived multilateralism,” the Prime Minister said. Referring to the African Union’s entry as a member of the G20 in New Delhi, Prime Minister Modi pointed out that the Indian presidency became a platform to give the Global South a rightful place in shaping the global narrative.

On India’s stand on global issues like Ukraine crisis and Gaza war, the Prime Minister said he has always advocated honest dialogue and sincere diplomacy.

“I have always believed that honest dialogue and sincere diplomacy should be the preferred avenues to resolve differences in an atmosphere free from fear and coercion. Whether in Ukraine or Gaza, our approach is guided by this belief. We cannot let terrorists or violence set the agenda,” the Prime Minister said.

In the recent Supreme Court judgment on Article 370, the Prime Minister said that the people of the regions are free to shape their destiny.

“With Article 370 gone forever, the people of JK and Ladakh are free for the first time to shape their destiny with their own hands. The government has adopted a multi-pronged approach with a focus on security, development, investment in infrastructure and human capital and a complete redesign of government processes through reforms,” he said.

“We are absolutely on track to ensure lasting peace, stability and prosperity for the people of the region by improving their living standards, promoting economic growth and creating employment,” he added.

DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip: The wreckage continues block after destroyed block. The smell is nauseating. Every day, hundreds of people claw through tons of rubble with shovels, iron bars and their bare hands. They are looking for the bodies of their children. Their parents. Their neighbors. They were all killed in Israeli rocket attacks. The bodies lie there, somewhere in the endless acres of destruction.

More than five weeks into Israel’s war against Hamas, some streets now look more like cemeteries. Officials in Gaza say they do not have the equipment, manpower or fuel to search for the living, let alone the dead.

Hamas, the militant group behind the deadly Oct. 7 attack that killed about 1,200 people in Israel, has many bases in Gaza’s busy neighborhoods. Israel is targeting these strongholds.

But the victims are often ordinary Palestinians, many of whom have yet to be found.

Omar al-Darawi and his neighbors have spent weeks searching the ruins of a few four-story houses in central Gaza. Forty-five people lived in the houses; 32 were killed. In the first days after the attack, 27 bodies were recovered.

The five who are still missing are cousins of al-Darawi.

Among them is Amani, a 37-year-old stay-at-home mother who died with her husband and their four children. There is Aliaa, 28, who took care of her elderly parents. There is another Amani, who died with her 14-year-old daughter. Her husband and their five sons survived.

“The situation has become worse every day,” said the 23-year-old, who was once a journalism student. The smell has become unbearable.

“We can’t stop,” he said. “We just want to find them and bury them” before their bodies are lost forever in the rubble.

According to Palestinian health authorities, more than 11,400 Palestinians have been killed, two-thirds of them women and minors. The UN Humanitarian Affairs Office estimates that around 2,700 people, including 1,500 children, are missing and believed to be buried in the ruins.

The missing have added to the pain of Gaza’s predominantly Muslim families. Islam calls for the dead to be buried quickly – within 24 hours if possible – with the shrouded bodies turned towards the holy city of Mecca. Traditionally, the body is washed by family members with soap and perfumed water, and prayers for forgiveness are said at the grave.

The search is especially difficult in northern Gaza, including Gaza City, where Israeli ground forces are battling Hamas militants. Hundreds of thousands of people have fled south, terrified by the fighting and pressured by Israeli warnings to evacuate. But even in the south, continued Israeli airstrikes and shelling mean that there is no security anywhere in the small area.

At the Palestinian Ministry of Civil Protection, Gaza’s main search and rescue force, more than 20 workers have been killed and more than 100 injured since the start of the war, said Mahmoud Bassal, spokesman for the department.

More than half of the vehicles are now out of fuel or damaged by strikes, he said.

In central Gaza, outside the northern combat zone, the area’s civil defense director has no heavy equipment at all, including bulldozers and cranes.

“We actually don’t have fuel to keep the only bulldozer we have running,” says Rami Ali al-Aidei.

At least five large bulldozers are needed to search a series of collapsed high-rise buildings in the coastal town of Deir al-Balah, he said.

This means that bodies, and the desperate people who search for them, are not the focus.

“We are prioritizing areas where we think we will find survivors,” Bassal said.

As a result, the search for bodies often falls to family members, or volunteers such as Bilal Abu Sama, a former freelance journalist.

He names a handful of victims of Deir al-Balah: ten corpses still lost in what remains of the al-Salam Mosque; two dozen bodies missing from a destroyed house; Ten missing in new attack on mosque.

‘Will those bodies remain under the rubble until the war is over? Okay, when will the war end?’ said Abu Sama, 30, describing families digging through the wreckage without tools. “The bodies will be decomposed. Many of them have already been disbanded.”

On Tuesday, 28 days after an airstrike leveled his house, Izzel-Din al-Moghari found his cousin’s body.

Twenty-four people from his extended family lived in the house, in the Bureij refugee camp. All but three were killed.

Eight are still missing.

Three days after the attack, a civil defense bulldozer came to clear the road and then quickly left for another collapsed building. The bulldozer came again on Tuesday and helped find Al-Moghari’s cousin.

After finding his cousin, al-Moghari returned to the wreckage in search of his father and other relatives.

“I’m stunned,” he said. “What we experienced is indescribable.”

Gaza has become a place where many families are denied even the comfort of a funeral.

Al-Darawi, the man looking for his cousins, understands that.

“Those who found their dead are lucky,” he said.

Thousands of earthquakes have been caused by a massive buildup of magma in a 15 kilometer rift.

The gorge is about 3.5 kilometers northwest of Grindavik, a town of 4,000 on the Reykjanes Peninsula that has been evacuated.

How likely is an eruption?

Iceland’s Met Office said on Wednesday that the “probability of an eruption is still considered high.”

Vidir Reynisson, head of Iceland’s Civil Protection and Emergency Management Agency, said experts are “really concerned about all the houses and infrastructure in the area.”

John Smellie, a volcanologist at Britain’s Leicester University, said lava “flows relatively slowly, and people can generally at least drive away from it or run from it.”

He said this means deaths are unlikely.

The eruption can be more intense if it blows through ice or water.

If it occurs in the southern tip of the gorge, which is underwater, it could cause ash clouds that could affect flights at Iceland’s international airport.

Other than the 2010 Eyjafjallajokull eruption?

An eruption is not expected to have as much impact as that of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano in 2010.

That eruption shot huge amounts of ash into the atmosphere, forcing the cancellation of about 100,000 flights and stranding more than 10 million travelers.

It exploded through 200 meters of ice, becoming “very violent,” Smellie said.

The interaction with the water created more fine ash particles that would then drift through Europe.

The latest eruption threat is a “completely different situation,” Smellie said.

Marc Reichow, a geochemist in Leicester, said it was “unlikely to happen this time as there is no substantial amount of ice in the area where an eruption is expected to occur.”

Captain Sandy Yawn not on the best terms with Hanna Ferrierbut she doesn’t disagree with the former chief stew Below deck Mediterranean opinions.

During an exclusive interview with We weekly at BravoCon on Friday, November 3, Sandy responded when Hannah made fun of how often the series changes its main stew.

“Well, she’s meticulous about the Below Deck Med [side of things]. She knows this isn’t my decision. So I don’t know what to do about it,” the captain said Us.

Hannah, who appeared on the Below deck spinoff for five seasons, recently commented on an Instagram clip of second stew Kyle Viljoen‘s appearance on Watch what happens live with Andy Cohen. In the video from October’s episode, Kyle and fellow stew Jessika Asai discussed some of their biggest challenges in the yachting industry.

“Oh. I understand why you’re trying [to] replace me every season. 😴,” Hannah replied in the comments section, hinting that she wasn’t interested in Kyle and Jessika’s experiences.

Before her departure, Hannah was the company’s longest-tenured chef Below deck Mediterranean. She was temporarily replaced by Christine ‘Bugsy’ Drake for Katie Flood took over the role in season 6.
