Now that invitations have been sent out for the wedding of Duke of Westminster Hugh Grosvenor, a society guessing game is developing over whether Harry will appear at the June event.

If he does, it would be the first time he and William have lived under the same roof since their father’s coronation.

In between training sessions and healthy meals, the Gypsy King showed off his beautiful green £190,000 Lamborghini Urus.

And the father-of-seven – who lives in a £550,000 Morecambe mansion – also took the rubbish out by the skip.

But to end the evening, Fury and his wife Paris visited Asda – their favorite supermarket since they married 16 years ago.

The boxing superstar filmed childhood sweetheart Paris looking for pajamas for one of their children.

And he insisted Lancashire cheese – which cost £2.75 – was “the best”.

Fury then hilariously refused to pay the £6.10 premium for Nutella spread, opting for Asda’s own spread instead.

He said: “Decisions, decisions. Do you spend £6.10 on a jar of Nutella or spend £1.85 on chocolate spread? I think we’ll take this one, Paris.”

The couple instead settled for Asda’s cheaper hazelnut chocolate spread, which cost £2.75 and saved £3.35 at Nutella.

Fury continued his savings campaign after refusing to let Paris buy a box of Ferrero Rocher popsicles for £5.

He said, “Put them back! They cost a fiver for a couple of popsicles. I don’t think so! Five quid for a couple of popsicles, buy the one pound one.”

They opted for a £1 Vimto lollipop after Fury said: “Value for money.

“After spending all the money on the Lambo in Paris, I think we should save some money on groceries.”

Ultimately it came down to paying the bill and Fury joked about the price increases over the past twenty years.

He said: “Paris, we have been coming to this Asda for 16 years since we got married.

Despite a day of sober savings, Fury then showed off a private jet with the caption: “Business call.”

The two-time champion returns in an undisputed title fight against Oleksandr Usyk, 37, in Saudi Arabia on May 18.

The fight was scheduled for February 17 until Fury suffered a cut in sparring, but he has insisted the cut has healed and training is back on.

Running the country requires being fit as a fiddle – so for the two men competing for the top job in this year’s general election, it couldn’t be more important to look after their health.

However, Labour peer Peter Mandelson has ruffled feathers within his party today after suggesting leader of the opposition, Sir Keir Starmer, needs to ‘shed a few pounds’ ahead of his campaign to win over the electorate.

It’s not the first time Starmer’s health has been under the microscope – last year the Mail on Sunday reported his own frontbench had held discussions on whether or not they should stage an intervention on their leaders weight after claiming he had added ‘a few extra pounds’.

Despite such reports, the Labour leader does seem to lead a fairly healthy lifestyle, following a pescatarian diet and playing five-a-side football in North London whenever he can.

Similarly, the health of Rishi Sunak has come under scrutiny in recent months, after the prime minister revealed he carries out a diet of intermittent fasting and doesn’t eat a single thing on Mondays.

It’s Sunak v Starmer in the fitness stakes: As Peter Mandelson tells Keir to ‘shed a few pounds’, FEMAIL compares his health and fitness regime to Rishi’s

Sunak, a fan of Peloton, also set tongues wagging when he was reportedly spotted rocking up to a Taylor Swift-themed spin class in California last year – much to the surprise of other people booked onto the class.

But, policies aside, how does the prime minister shape up to the Labour leader in the fitness stakes? FEMAIL takes a closer look into their diets and exercise regimes to find out…

Exercise

It’s clear the Prime Minister values an active lifestyle – and he has made many headlines for his various fitness pursuits.

Back when he was chancellor, Rishi revealed that he started his days with a 6am Peloton session to Britney Spears songs.

Mr Sunak’s favourite exercise instructor is Cody Rigsby, 36, a professional dancer from New York who describes himself as an ‘opinionated homosexual’ to his 1.3 million Instagram followers.

Rishi has been enamoured with the £1,750 Peloton, which requires a monthly membership, since he got one in 2021 – when sales of the modern stationary bike boomed by 172 per cent during lockdown.

It features a large touchscreen tablet fixed between the bike’s handlebars so users can join virtual exercise classes from across the world.

Mr Sunak said having his exercise routine punctuated with the dulcet tones of the American star’s pop tunes is ‘no bad thing’, according to The Times.

In February 2020, Rishi revealed taking on the role of the chancellor of the exchequer wreaked havoc on his routine, and while he would like to take part in the classes twice a week, he is unable to.

However, when possible Rishi would finish his workout before he saw his children in the morning and started work at 7.45am.

It is believed he may have picked up some of his Californian lifestyle habits when he lived in the sunshine state while studying at Stanford University and met his wife Akshata Murthy, 43.

Rishi also revealed he likes mixing up his workouts with treadmill runs or high intensity interval training (HIIT) sessions at a community leisure centre in Richmond, north Yorkshire.

Last May, he was snapped posing with a jogger after taking part in a 10km fun run.

The prime minister was among hundreds of runners taking part in a race in the North Yorkshire town of Northallerton, within his Richmond constituency.

But after the race, he was pictured standing next to ‘avid parkrunner’ Nick Dent, who said he outran the Prime Minister with a time of 47 minutes and 46 seconds in the ‘tough’ contest.

‘A tough Northallerton 10K but really pleased with a chip time of about 47:46 on an undulating course ~ and I also beat this guy…’ Mr Dent said in a caption to the picture posted on Twitter.

The runner’s victory over the prime minister came after Mr Sunak said: ‘I haven’t done any exercise in a long time, I’ve been a little bit busy, but I’m going to try and do it in under an hour. It’s great to have everyone here so thanks for coming.

Last August, Rishi took his family on what was thought to be their first holiday together in four years.

The PM maintained his fitness regime and was reported to attend a Swift-themed indoor cycling session during the family holiday.

Downing Street did not deny reports the PM  took part in a workout class in LA set to the Shake It Off singer’s music.

A SoulCycle participant said Mr Sunak was at the Swift-themed indoor session. Hannah Harmelin posted a video on TikTok saying she spotted the PM at the end of a 7am class in Santa Monica.

Asked if Mr Sunak was a ‘Swiftie’ – as fans of the mega-star are known – the PM’s official spokesman told reporters: ‘I’m not going to guide you away from it.’

While Rishi undertakes various forms of exercise on a daily basis, Keir keeps it simple with weekly football games.

He’s regularly photographed on the pitch taking part in five-aside games with friends at Sunday league for Homerton Academicals in north London.

Engaging in the group sport was described as a ‘normal’ routine for Keir back in 2022 after he was ambushed by a mob of anti-Covid restriction demonstrators while leaving a five-aside match, according to The Independent.

More recently, in January 2024, the Labour leader could be seen throwing his hands into the air after letting two balls slip past him as goalie.

And when he’s not on the pitch himself, he’s donning red and white to cheer on his beloved Arsenal.

While he’s a diehard Arsenal supporter, it’s not the only team Keir follows, and last August he called for the Lionesses to be given honours after their inspirational World Cup campaign.

The Labour leader demanded formal recognition for their efforts. He said: ‘The Lionesses have galvanised the whole nation through their historic achievement in becoming the first England team to make the World Cup final.

‘But they’ve also inspired a generation of women and girls to play football, take up sport, and to remove any doubt in their minds that they too can go all the way in their chosen field.

‘There’s no doubt that they should be recognised by the honours system.’

The leader of the Labour party also takes an interest in tennis, having watched Wimbledon live from the royal box in 2022.

The politician was spotted among the seats in Centre Court’s Royal Box, alongside his wife Victoria, on women’s semi-finals day.

As well as engaging in a public display of affection with his spouse, Sir Keir was also seen sharing jokes with fellow attendees.

Dietary requirements

The leader of the Labour Party follows a pescatarian diet – and has done so for over 25 years, despite admitting he still pines for bacon sandwiches and a chicken curry.

So, why does he cut out meat? For health and environmental reasons. In a 2020 interview on Sky’s Ridge on Sunday, the Opposition Leader said: ‘I gave up [meat] as a matter of principle years ago on the basis that eating meat wasn’t the right thing for the body and the planet but I have to say, I miss meat.’

Asked what he specifically missed he looked wistful and replied: ‘Oh, bacon sandwiches, chicken curry, you name it, almost everything!’

The 61-year-old extended his diet onto his children and didn’t let them eat meat until they were 10 years old.

Speaking on the Table Manners Podcast, hosted by pop singer Jessie Ware and her mother Lennie, the Labour leader said he and his vegetarian wife Victoria did not have meat or fish in the house when they were raising their son and daughter.

Once their son turned ten, Keir and Victoria said he could ‘do what you like’, and he immediately started eating KFC and McDonald’s.

However, he told Jessie and Lennie that his daughter has still never eaten meat or fish.

It marks a clear shift from Keir’s diet growing up, a time when meat was a staple part of his diet with foods including ‘sausages, mash, meat, and vegetables’ making a regular appearance on the dinner table.

Sir Keir has spoken previously about becoming vegetarian 25 years ago, before reintroducing fish to his diet.

He said he found avoiding seafood ‘too much’, but described his wife as a ‘proper vegetarian’.

‘I struggle with it because I love meat. I love it. If you give up fish or meat on a matter of principle you still hanker after it,’ he said.

The couple’s son is now aged 15, while their daughter is 12. Describing their parenting, Sir Keir said: ‘We don’t have meat or fish in the house, we don’t cook it, until they’re about 10 obviously they’re just eating with us.’

He added: ‘And then at the age of 10 we said, ‘you can do what you like’ and our boy said ‘great’, so the moment we go out there’s a Deliveroo for Kentucky Fried Chicken or McDonald’s.

‘So he’s taken full, sort of, liberty with the license to do what he likes.’ However, Sir Keir said his daughter ‘has never in her life tasted meat or fish’.

When Lennie Ware challenged Sir Keir that many vegetarians cook meat for their children, he replied: ‘We never did.’

The Labour leader also insisted the family has no issue if their son wants to order non-vegetarian meals when they eat out. ‘We’re not bothered by that,’ he said.

Meanwhile, Rishi takes a different stance when it comes to meat, eating all but beef due to his Hindu faith.

The 43-year-old’s position might come as a surprise following his mother-in-law’s devotion to pure vegetarianism – having even sparked a Twitter debate after revealing she takes her own food with her everywhere she goes.

Sudha Murty, 73, who claimed she is the reason for the British Prime Minister’s success, describes herself as a ‘pure vegetarian’ – meaning she does not even eat eggs.

On a popular food show called ‘Khaane Mein Kya Hai?’, roughly meaning ‘What’s for lunch/dinner?’, the mother and grandmother revealed that ‘one of my biggest fears is that the same spoon may have been used for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes’.

‘So, when I travel, I look for a pure vegetarian restaurant. And I carry an entire bag full of food,’ she said.

The remark quickly caused a storm on social media, with opinions divided between those criticising and supporting her.

Typical breakfast

Rishi is said to opt for a healthy choice of Greek yogurt and blueberries for his breakfast each morning.

But weekends are where the real breakfast magic happens in the Sunak household.

He told The Times: ‘We have a full cooked breakfast on Saturdays and on Sundays we alternate between pancakes and waffles… we do pancakes American-style, so the thin crispy bacon, blueberries, strawberries.’

And while the Prime Minister is often associated with a healthy lifestyle, he made waves online after claiming he enjoys a McDonald’s breakfast from time to time.

Rishi was mocked in 2022 after he claimed to always enjoy a McDonald’s breakfast wrap when out with his daughters – despite the item having not been on sale since March 2020.

The Tory leader was accused of a faux pas during a TV interview, in which he was quizzed about what he ordered when he recently visited a McDonald’s restaurant.

Appearing on ITV’s This morning , the former chancellor was asked the ‘killer question’ of what items he had chosen from the McDonald’s menu.

‘I was there at about I think, gosh, 7.45 in the morning or 7.30 – so it was not a burger and nuggets! I got breakfast,’ Mr Sunak replied. ‘I get a bacon roll with ketchup and the pancakes.’

Asked by show host Rochelle Humes if he had also ordered a hash brown, the Conservative MP added: ‘I didn’t yesterday but if I’m with my daughters then we get the wrap.

‘With my eldest daughter… if I’m with her, that wrap with the hash brown and everything in it is what we do.’

But aficionados of McDonald’s were quick to point out that the breakfast wrap hasn’t been on sale for nearly two-and-a-half years.

Meanwhile, Keir has caused surprise after revealing his breakfast go-to, but for a different reason.

The 61-year-old has kept his favourite breakfast foods relatively under wraps.

However, during a 2021 Labour Party conference, Keir was snapped holding a plate of breakfast foods after taking his pick from a buffet.

Keir walked round the buffet, but instead of piling eggs and pancakes on his plate like most tend to, he went for a much healthier choice, consisting of fruit, fish, and cheese.

In an image shared by The Times, Keir looked pleased with his choice, despite the fact that others might consider his choice to be on the stranger side.

Alcohol

Keir Starmer has been seen to enjoy a pint of beer on many occasions, whether that be after playing in a football match or after work.

However, it’s Rishi that rejects alcohol in favour of soft drinks, and he famously admitted to being a coke addict, before clarifying the drink not the drug.

And while he’s a self-professed lover of  carbonated drinks, alcohol is not a liked beverage for Rishi.

‘I really tried [to drink alcohol],’ he told The Times. ‘My family all drink, my wife definitely drinks. It massively irritates her that I don’t.

‘My parents do, my dad was upset that I wouldn’t share a glass of wine with him but thankfully my younger brother came along and that was all right.’

During the 2022 interview Rishi went on to recall that he once did some shots with his family in the lead up to his wedding, but didn’t like the taste.

And while his family and friends described him as happy while drunk, drinking alcohol was never an activity Sunak relished, even during his youth.

Favourite treats

Keir offered insight into his favourite treats during the Table Manners podcast with Jessie and Lennie Ware last year.

When asked what his final meal would be if he was on a deserted island, he named a selection of relatively healthy Indian foods.

The meal included a seaweed salad for starter, tandoori salmon from his favourite curry house in Glasgow for main, along with dahl, plain naan and pilau rice.

And he’d round things up with a baked lemon cheesecake while sipping on a glass of pinot grigio.

In comparison, Rishi has more of a sweet tooth. On top of his love of Coca-Cola, the Prime Minister has also declared his love of cinnamon buns, specifically ones from Gail’s Bakery.

Despite Sunak observing an intermittent fasting diet – meaning he restricts his calorie intake on certain days of the week – on more lenient days he eats a sugary pastry after his Greek yoghurt breakfast.

Eating routines

If Keir follows diets, he has kept it out of the public eye. Meanwhile, Rishi has taken a different stance and disclosed he follows an intermittent fasting regime.

At the start of this year, Rishi said fasting on a Monday is an ‘important discipline’ which allows him to indulge later on.

Despite his demanding schedule as Prime Minister, Mr Sunak said avoiding eating for 36 hours at the start of each week is good for a ‘balanced lifestyle’.

The self-confessed ‘Coca-Cola addict’, who has a preference for a Mexican variety made with pure cane sugar, said fasting helps him to combat his ‘weakness for sugary things’.

Mr Sunak told the BBC : ‘I’m not sure people are that interested in my diet but I tend to try and do some fasting at the beginning of every week as part of a general balanced lifestyle but everyone will do this differently.

‘I think it’s important we have healthy lifestyles, that’s part of what I do, but I also have a weakness for sugary things which I indulge in the rest of the week.’

Asked about how he fasts for a day despite the demands of his office, Mr Sunak said: ‘That’s an important discipline for me but it means that I can then indulge myself in all the sugary treats that I like for the rest of the week, which I tend to enjoy.

‘That’s where I balance it with my job and everything else.’

Friends of Mr Sunak told The Sunday Times that he does not eat anything for 36 hours at the start of each week, from 5pm on Sunday until 5am on Tuesday.

Downing Street insiders disputed the timeline but confirmed that he typically fasts on Mondays.

Arriving hand-in-hand for the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix wearing vintage Gucci and a poker face, Geri Horner was determined to give everyone a clear message: Stand By Your Man.

Spice Girl Geri was seen sharing several PDAs with her beleaguered husband Christian Horner – after the humiliating leak of hundreds of WhatsApp messages, apparently exchanged between the Red Bull team principle and a female colleague.

And yet the couple were all over each other, sharing kisses and huddling up close, all in full sight of the photographers.

It comes straight out of the playbook of a beleagured MP after a cheating scandal – kiss for the cameras and perhaps it will make everyone forget.

Dominic West tried the same tactic in a notoriously awkward photoshoot with his wife in 2020, after he was caught in a passionate clinch with then co-star Lily James.

This weekend, ex-Spice Girl Geri Halliwell shared a kiss with her beleaguered husband Christian Horner – who has faced allegations relating to hundreds of WhatsApp messages that appeared to be written by him to a female colleague – at the Bahrain Grand Prix in a show of solidarity after leaked text messages rocked Formula One

Another memorable cheating row from that same year saw a teary-eyed Will Smith put on a show of unity with Jada Pinkett-Smith after she admitted to an affair with musician August Alsina – by appearing on their family talk show.

Here, FEMAIL takes a look at the cringe-worthy moments of solidarity from seemingly hard-done spouses…

CHRISTIAN HORNER AND GERI HALIWELL

Geri Halliwell shared a kiss with her beleaguered husband Christian Horner at the Bahrain Grand Prix this weekend, amid scandal rumours.

It appeared that Christian leaned in to kiss his wife in full view of the cameras as the world watched their response to the controversy that has rocked Formula One.

After they shared a smooch, Geri seemed to look directly at photographers.

Her husband, Red Bull F1 chief Christian, has faced allegations relating to hundreds of WhatsApp messages that appeared to be written by him to a female colleague.

Christian was cleared to continue as Red Bull head following an internal probe into ‘inappropriate behaviour’ by the F1 team’s parent company, Red Bull GmbH. The 50-year-old has always denied the claims.

Christian initially broke cover on Saturday morning with no sign of Geri after his wife found out the texts were leaked as she was flying in a private jet.

Yet the couple walked hand-in-hand in the Paddock in Bahrain. Geri appeared red-eyed as she put on a brave face, smiling while her husband clenched her hand.

Last week, Red Bull cleared Horner of inappropriate behaviour allegations which were made by a female employee.

But 24 hours later, flirtatious WhatsApp messages apparently exchanged between Christian and the female complainant were leaked to 149 F1 figures while Geri was on a flight to see her husband ahead of this weekend’s season opener.

An insider previously told the Mail it would be ‘mayhem’ if Geri showed her face at Saturday’s Grand Prix.

However, Red Bull confirmed to Mail Sport on Saturday that the former Spice Girl would be on the grid and she was seen at around 1.20pm with her F1 boss husband.

Geri was holding ‘crisis talks’ over Christian’s leaked text messages and did not want to meet her husband in Bahrain until she was talked into it by his family, sources earlier claimed.

Red Bull workers are reportedly afraid that more messages may be leaked.

Christian, who has won 13 world championships since heading the team as a 31-year-old in 2005, had previously thanked his ‘very supportive wife’ for her backing during the accusations.

Geri and Christian mixed in social circles before they struck up a romance, having first met each other at the Monaco Grand Prix in 2009.

Their relationship, however, got off to a rocky start, coming under fire after the Red Bull chief left his long-term partner Beverley Allen six months after she gave birth to their daughter Olivia.

While the couple took a short break to see if Christian could rescue his relationship with the mother of his child, just nine months later he announced his engagement to Ginger Spice in a notice in the The Times in 2014.

The former Spice Girl and Red Bull boss tied the knot at St Mary’s Church in Woburn, Bedfordshire, in 2015.

Geri’s A-line lace bridal gown was designed by British designer Phillipa Lepley.

Her nine-year-old daughter, Bluebell, whom she had with screenwriter Sacha Gervasi in 2005, also attended the wedding.

Guests included Geri’s former Spice Girls co-star Emma Bunton, radio presenter and singer Myleene Klass, and TV presenter Amanda Holden.

DOMINIC WEST AND CATHERINE FITZGERALD

Dominic West and his wife struck a ‘denial pose’ in echoes of ‘unfaithful politicians trying to save their careers’ as they posed outside their house in 2020 – in a famously awkward photoshoot.

The actor, who wasn’t wearing his wedding ring, and his wife Catherine FitzGerald kissed and put on a united front outside their Wiltshire home after his passionate clinch with Lily James in Rome in a pose reminiscent of various MPs – including the likes of Piers Merchant.

Speaking to FEMAIL at the time, body language guru Judi James said she was surprised the couple went for the ‘old-school and rather gruesome body language ritual known as ‘The Denial’ pose’ to prove their marriage is still ‘strong’ and that they’re ‘very much still together’.

‘Whether prompted by guilt or actual innocence, the denial ritual is notoriously and historically one of the trickiest non-verbal performances to pull off,’ she explained.

‘A favourite of face-and-career-saving politicians, who would often involve their entire family in the Walton’s-style shots, the public have become cynical as a result of so many of them emerging just prior to a split.’

The photos came one day after the actor and the Mamma Mia! star Lily, caused quite the stir with their passionate – and very public – display and didn’t seem to mind who saw them as they cuddled up while taking in the sights of the Italian city.

JADA PINKETT-SMITH AND WILL SMITH

Many fans were left wincing after Will Smith four years ago joined his wife Jada Pinkett-Smit on Red Table Talk – for a candid conversation about the affair she had admitted to having.

During their talk on the Facebook show, the two openly discussed Jada’s ‘entanglement’ with August Alsina as they even addressed the break in their marriage in 2015.

In the episode, the Hollywood couple sat opposite each other as they set the record straight and reaffirmed their commitment to each other.

Jada began explaining that the couple met August through their son Jaden, 25, and recalled the singer, who would have been 23 at the time, was ‘really sick’.

Jada said: ‘And it all started with him just needing some help, me wanting to help his health, his mental state.

‘The outpouring for him from our family was initially about his health,’ she said. ‘We found all those different resources to help pull him through and from there you and I were going through a very difficult time.’

Following Jada’s confession Will admitted: ‘I was done with you,’ while Jada added that they decided to separate for a ‘period of time’.

‘And then what did you do, Jada?’ Will asked, urging his wife to keep talking.

‘As time went on, I got into a different type of entanglement with August,’ Jada explained.

The mother-of-two went on to respond to August’s claim that Will gave her ‘permission’ to have an affair.

‘The only person that can give permission in that circumstance is myself,’ she insisted.

‘But what August was probably trying to communicate because I could see how he could see it as permission because we were separated amicably, and I think he wanted to make it clear he’s not a home wrecker, because he’s not.’

When Will pushed Jada to clarify what she meant by ‘entanglement’ she responded, ‘It was a relationship, absolutely.’

As Will made light of the fact that he’s being the dutiful husband and standing by his wife after her ‘transgressions’ amid intense media scrutiny, Jada admitted that she doesn’t see her relationship with August ‘as a transgression at all’.

Jade said: ‘Through that particular journey, I learned so much about myself and was able to really confront a lot of emotional immaturity, emotional insecurity and I was really able to do some really deep healing.

In October, Jada admitted that she decided to stay by Will’s side, the moment he slapped Chris Rock at the 94th Academy Awards in 2022.

‘I knew it was going to be an intense reaction. And that was the moment that I decided that I was going to stay by his side,’ she said on The One Show. ‘You know, it’s funny how intense situations can amplify love, and it was a pretty difficult time, but it definitely drew us closer. So yeah, it’s, crazy how things work.’

In the explosive memoir, she has revealed how the dynamics of her marriage with famous actor and Will changed after the Oscars.

The pair had secretly separated six years prior to the incident, with Jada confessing: ‘I’m not thinking in a million years he’s getting up on stage and it has anything to do with me!’

Speaking to Red magazine, she added: ‘That’s when your relationship gets deeper than romance or all the c**p that comes with marriage.

‘I was just really concerned about Will. And I realised in that moment that, as challenging as our relationship can be, I’m always going to be by his side, no matter what.’

At the 94th Academy Awards, Will strode onto the stage and slapped Chris after the comedian cracked a joke about Jada looking like ‘G.I. Jane’ because of her bald head when she had recently revealed that was suffering from alopecia.

PIERS AND HELEN MERCHANT

Disgraced former Tory MP Piers Merchant, who died in September, 2009, was caught with 17-year-old Soho nightclub ‘hostess’ Anna Cox at the height of the Tory sleaze furore before the 1997 General Election.

His wife Helen Merchant backed her husband by declaring that he had been a ‘bloody fool’ but that she still loved him – and similarly appeared on the doorstep of the family home and kissed him passionately.

Piers, a committed Thatcherite, was Personal Private Secretary to Social Security Secretary Peter Lilley at the time of the Anna Cox scandal.

He immediately denied that he was having an affair with the Soho hostess claiming: ‘Anna is a dear friend of mine and has been helping my campaign.

‘But there is no question of us having an affair. I have never made love to her.’

He was quoted as saying: ‘That may well be me kissing her in the picture, but I see nothing wrong with that. I am sure my wife will not be the slightest bit concerned.’

Within days of being caught out by the Sun, Piers and his wife appeared on the doorstep of their family home and passionately kissed for the benefit of the assembled Press.

Despite the controversy, he retained his Beckenham seat at the election.

He claimed that he had been the victim of an elaborate ‘sting’  and claimed that Cox had been recruited by the Sun from a Soho hostess bar.

Until the story broke in the Sun, Anna’s family had not known she was working in a strip club as a £100-a-night hostess.

The girl who had left school with ten GCSEs told them she was a waitress.

‘I’m not old enough to vote  –  but I’m old enough to know when I’ve been used,’ Ms Cox was quoted as saying at the time.

He immediately denied that he was having an affair with the Soho hostess claiming: 'Anna is a dear friend of mine and has been helping my campaign. Pictured with his wife

But despite the controversy over the pictures Piers then befriended Ms Cox and hired her as his assistant and began an affair.

He took Ms Cox to the Tory conference in Blackpool that year and they were videoed in another tabloid sting – set up by Merchant’s former colleague Anthony Gilberthorpe.

Gilberthorpe had been paid £25,000 by the Mirror, whose journalists had wired the flat with concealed video recorders to capture the couple’s cavortings.

He also invited the couple to stay in his York flat, secretly filmed them in bed and released that, too.

Pictures from their bedroom romp made the front page of the Sunday Mirror for a further two weeks.

Mrs Merchant still stood by her husband, insisting that Ms Cox was a family friend with whom she was happy for her husband to spend his nights.

But Piers later admitted to the Mail that he had slept with Ms Cox up to two months before the Tory conference.

In a detailed explanation of the affair, Piers told how he had broken the news of his infidelity to his wife in a mobile phone call onboard a packed commuter train.

And he was later forced to apologise for having lied to the public and his party about the affair when confronted.

Piers said: ‘As the story was breaking I made a statement which was deliberately misleading.

‘To counter the allegations, I issued a statement saying categorically: “Piers Merchant and Anna Cox are NOT having an affair.”

‘Strictly speaking, because of the tense, that was true. We were not having an affair – we were sitting at home with my wife and family. I admit it was deceptive. I was trying to be too clever, and I regret that.’

In 2004 Piers was caught out again cheating on his wife with 41-year-old property consultant Caroline Bew in yet another tabloid sting.

Piers quit as an MP 48 hours later under pressure from new Tory leader William Hague.

Ina statement he said: ‘This is entirely my own decision. I have been put under no pressure from anyone else to do this.

‘I have always tried to work as effectively as possible for all my constituents.

‘I have informed my agent and Conservative Association chairman but have not yet had the opportunity to discuss the matter.

‘I hope my quick decision will reduce damage to the local association.’

DAVID AND VICTORIA BECKHAM

In 2004, David Beckham’s former personal assistant Rebecca Loos made shocking claims of a affair with the football star – in the now defunct newspaper, News of the World.

David has always denied the affair, adding that the allegations were ‘ludicrous’.

In a documentary about his family last year, the athlete did not admit any guilty or anything remotely inappropriate but said the stories were ‘horrible’ and left him ‘feeling sick every day’.

At the time he had been living in Spain, playing for Real Madrid, while Victoria was back in the UK looking after their eldest two children.

However, his love with the ex-Spice Girl has stood the test of time, and the pair are now stronger than ever.

Meanwhile, at their first red carpet after the allegations, Victoria appeared to leave no room for confusion about the couple's spark as she confidently draped a possessive hand over him, sporting a sultry dress featuring a corset-style bodice

VERNON KAY AND TESS DALY

This show of unity wasn’t littered with loved-up looks or PDA, but still got the message across loud and clear.

In 2010, Vernon Kay and his wife Tess Daly made their first public appearance together since news of his ‘sex text’ scandal broke as they co-hosted The Prince’s Trust Celebrate Success awards.

Vernon had admitted he made ‘foolish decisions’ after it was revealed he exchanged racy messages via text and Twitter with glamour model Rhian Sugden and four other women.

He publicly apologised to his wife and family via his Radio 1 show.

The timing of the revelations could nothave been worse for Tess, who wasreleasing a book on parenting.

As they co-hosted the awards, Vernon appeared sheepish, hovering behind his wife and stayed stony-faced while she managed a smile for the paparazzi.

In 2020, Vernon claimed he and Tess have ‘moved on’ from his ‘sexting scandal’ ten years ago in an interview with the Mirror.

COCO AND ICE T

This couple’s seemingly unbreakable bond was rocked by a scandal after photos hit the internet showing Coco cuddling up with another man in 2012.

But Ice-T appeared to have forgiven his wife and the pair put on a united front on a Las Vegas outing just weeks later, in some very eager-looking photos.

It seems the performer may have travelled to the Nevada city to be by his wife’s side – and perhaps keep an eye on her – after she was snapped getting cosy with rapper AP.9.

The trouble in paradise appeared to be behind the pair, however, as they enjoyed a workout followed by a shopping trip.

The couple looked like they were getting on great as they shared a giggle while pumping iron in the fitness centre at the Planet Hollywood hotel.

PADDY AND JANE ASHDOWN

In the 90s, famed politician Paddy Ashdown – who passed away in 2018 – was caught in a scandal.

In 1988 he was elected as the first leader of the Liberal Democrats. Yet, while party leader he managed to survive an expose by The Sun, who branded him ‘Paddy Pantsdown’ over a five-month affair he had with his secretary.

Shortly after the story broke, Paddy and his wife Jane took to the quinitissential photoshoot outside their London home

Ashdown had the five-month relationship in 1985 but in 1992 the News of the World discovered the story. He managed to secure an injunction against the paper before handing it to The Sun – who branded him ‘Paddy Pantsdown’.

Following the scandal, he changed the message on his answering machine to ‘Hello, this is Paddy Ashdown. Please leave a message after the high moral tone.’

Shortly after the story broke, Paddy and his wife Jane took to the quinitissential photoshoot outside their London home.

The pair can be seen hugging outside the steps. Paddy later said that were it not for his wife, he would have gotten ‘into all sorts of trouble’.

She has readily acknowledged that she was overjoyed at being awarded the CBE, which was presented to her by the late Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace. But fashion designer Katharine Hamnett, who had previously stated that she “aspired to be a duchess – with a castle”, is apparently tired of being a mere commander of the British Empire and has left her insignia forgotten – or worse , fallen into oblivion. from her garbage cans.

Hamnett has been organizing the kind of protest that has been her trademark since 1984, when she met Margaret Thatcher at a Downing Street reception wearing a T-shirt with an anti-nuclear slogan on it, and has posted her latest news on social media.

A video clip shows her descending the stairs of her home wearing a black T-shirt with the words: 'Disgusted to be British'.

In case anyone is in any doubt, Hamnett, a former student of the £45,000 Cheltenham Ladies College, says: 'I am disgusted at being British because of our role in the genocide in Gaza.'

She then lifts the lid of a black bin with her left hand and holds the light red ribbon of the CBE in her right hand, adding: 'This is my CBE. It belongs in the bin, with Sunak and Starmer.'

With a deft wave, the 76-year-old throws the ribbon – and the cross to which it is attached – into the waste bin.

Hamnett closes the lid and turns to the camera once again. “Go to this site,” she instructs admirers, directing them to a website where the uninitiated can find out who their MP is. “Tell them you will never vote for them again unless they support a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.”

Finally, in a demonstration of the business instincts that have driven her to enormous commercial success, she says, “Go to this website and buy the T-shirt.”

The designer is best known for her oversized T-shirts printed with slogans worn by pop bands such as Wham! and Queen. George Michael wore his white 'Choose Life' shirt in the pop video for Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.

Hamnett has deftly aligned himself with the metropolitan style for decades. “I had to soften my accent a bit,” she recalled of her time at art school in London in the 1960s, describing the era as “the first time the working class mixed with the upper class.”

In 2008, she said she was “ashamed to be British” because the brother of then Prime Minister Gordon Brown worked for the French energy company EDF, which generated much of its energy from nuclear power.

I wonder what her father's advice would have been to Israel in its quest to free its hostages? He had been a prisoner of war of the Japanese.

The Prince of Wales said he ‘really appreciates everyone’s kindness’ as he spoke out for the first time since the shock news that the King has been diagnosed with cancer.

It came as William arrived at a gala dinner was in support of London’s Air Ambulance Charity tonight – of which the Prince is a patron.

The day has been particularly busy day for the Prince – who is now the monarchy’s most prominent public figure – as he handed out more than 50 honours on behalf of the King. The monarch is recuperating at Sandringham following his first cancer treatment and Kate is at home following abdominal surgery.

And to take William’s mind off the royal family’s woes there was some A-list Hollywood glitter, in the form of global superstar Tom Cruise.

The presence of the Top Gun star was particularly appropriate given that the gala is to support the London Air Ambulance, of which Cruise is, remarkably, an existing supporter. The Prince of Wales – who served as an air ambulance pilot in East Anglia – has been patron of the organisation since 2020.

Looking smart in a black velvet dinner jacket and bow tie, he arrived at Ruffles new London hotspot, Raffles London in Horseguards Avenue, at 7.20pm.

Meeting outside the venue, the Prince could be seen shaking hands with the Hollywood star – before they posed up for pictures together and were heard complimenting each others outfits.

The Black and White gala raised more than £1million last year, and the charity hopes that the event will help them to replace two aging helicopters by September.

Tonight guests will have a live performance from Grammy-award winner Sister Sledge and get the chance to get their hands on exclusive high-quality prizes in an auction.

Hollywood star Tom laughed as Wills headed into another room.

One member of Sister Sledge told the Prince that she was praying for his father. William smiled and thanked her.

Co-host for the evening, presenter Tania Bryer, made a point of telling the audience, after William had made his way to his seat, that all their ’best wishes’ were being sent to His Majesty.

The audience clapped and there were calls of ‘hear hear’ as William smiled and encouraged his table – including Cruise – to sit down.

It will be hosted by CNBC broadcaster Tania Bryer and Made in Chelsea and Celebs Go Dating star Mark-Francis Vandelli.

Speaking before the event, Jonathan Jenkins, CEO of London’s Air Ambulance Charity, said: ‘HRH Prince William truly understands our work and knows that every second counts in an emergency.

‘We know that with his help as well as the continued support of the public, our crews can reach those who need them most – serving the people of London 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

‘We’re thrilled he will be joining us at our 2024 gala event.’

The Prince of Wales, who was wearing an RAF uniform, chatted warmly with recipients including Patricia Spruce earlier today, who was made an MBE for her work recruiting foreign medics for the NHS.

Ellen White, who was also made an MBE, said she gave her ‘best wishes’ for Kate and the King. Asked how William responded, she said: ‘He really appreciated it. So yeah, it was something that obviously I wanted to send my best wishes.’

Lipreader Jeremy Freeman, who analysed the exchange for MailOnline, revealed it ended with William saying William, ‘Well it was lovely to see you again’, before White responded, ‘Thank you, please wish your Dad well’.

Charles has postponed all public-facing duties, but is continuing with behind-the-scenes work on his red boxes of state papers.

And today Downing Street took the unusual step of confirming details about Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s weekly audience with the King, following an agreement with Buckingham Palace, and said it would be held later over the phone.

William was last seen outside The London Clinic on January 18 after visiting his wife, who returned to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor on Monday and is set to be out of the public eye until at least Easter.

Prince Harry arrived in London yesterday and had a ‘brief meeting’ with Charles at Clarence House, but sources close to William have made it clear he has ‘no plans’ to see his estranged brother.

William will appear at a charity gala tonight, where he is expected to speak about his father’s charity diagnosis for the first time. He may also thank wellwishers and discuss what the Royal Family have been through in recent days.

However, the heir to the throne will not talk about his brother Harry, with one royal expert calling their relationship ‘completely broken’.

The King’s cancer treatment as an outpatient started earlier this week, and he returned, with the Queen, to his Sandringham home in Norfolk yesterday after seeing his son the Duke of Sussex, who had flown back to the UK from California.

William may step in to represent his father at any public events, but no engagements are scheduled at the moment and the royal palaces will make arrangements if the need arises.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry flew 5,000 miles from California yesterday to see his father for 45 minutes following the King’s shock cancer diagnosis.

But while Harry’s transatlantic dash raised hopes he will continue to heal wounds with his family, there hasn’t been ‘any sign’ of a reunion between the two royal brothers.

BBC Royal Correspondent Daniela Relph said the chances of a reconciliation between William and Harry remains unlikely given their ongoing feud.

‘It’s a sibling relationship that still looks incredibly broken. We don’t know if either side has reached out in any way, if there has been any attempt to find a truce. As things stand there doesn’t seem to be any sign of that,’ she told Radio 4.

‘You have to read that as a sign of the state of their relationship, nothing in the diary we’re told for them to meet up while Harry’s in the UK.

‘It also means Harry won’t be visiting his sister-in-law, the Princess of Wales, who has been unwell, someone he was once very close to.’

The Duke of Sussex was one of the first family members seen to visit Charles after his shock diagnosis was made public.

Another visit by Harry to his father has not been ruled out, according to The Telegraph, but it is understood the Duke will not be making a visit to his older brother while staying in London.

Royal biographer Robert Hardman told Radio 4 that it is common for feuding families to ‘come together’ during tough times.

Mr Hardman said: ‘In times of crisis families do come together, and I think everyone will be happy to see that.

‘I think there is a sort of sense of business as usual going on and that’s very much a message that the palace is trying to put out, but if along the way we can see some bridges being built, then that’s got to be a good thing.’

While William returned to public duties today – after having decided to ‘clear his diary’ in order to support the Princess of Wales during and after her operation last month – he is not expected to pick up full-time royal duties quite yet.

This evening, he will attend the London Air Ambulance annual fundraising gala in central London. He has been the charity’s patron since 2020.

The dinner is being held in support of the charity’s largest ever fundraiser, hoping to produce £15million to replace its helicopter fleet.

After today, William has no further duties scheduled this week and will be with Kate and the children again next week during their half-term holiday.

Princess Anne will also be back in action today after conducting four engagements yesterday, with three today scheduled across Berkshire, London and Oxfordshire.

A source said: ‘The Prince has always made clear that his priority is to support his wife and family for the time being – and he did not put a timescale on that.

‘He will make a return to duties on Wednesday but you should not expect to see him again for a bit after that.’

It is understood that his team at Kensington Palace are speaking to their opposite numbers at Buckingham Palace about which public engagements William could potentially attend in his father’s place.

They are likely to be along the lines of further investitures and, perhaps, leading the family at events such as the annual Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey early next month.

But with His Majesty insisting on keeping his hand firmly on the tiller of State business during his treatment, it is highly unlikely that the future king will be required to take over any constitutional matters.

It is understood that William, 41, has his father’s ‘100 per cent’ backing in returning at his own pace.

A source said: ‘The King adores Catherine and thinks she is doing a wonderful job. He understands that family comes first.’

The King has been spending an increasing amount of time at Windsor Castle since his accession, often staying over on Sunday evenings, affording him more time with his son and young grandchildren to whom he is growing ever closer.

William, who now lives in Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor Estate, a short walk from the castle, also often uses rooms in the historic royal residence for meetings.

The Princess of Wales was unexpectedly admitted to hospital last month for what has been described only as ‘abdominal surgery’.

She spent two weeks in The London Clinic, where the King also underwent his prostate operation, and she is unlikely to start undertaking royal duties again until after Easter.

Aides said at the time that her husband had cancelled all his forthcoming engagements to be by her side and support their children Prince George, ten, Princess Charlotte, eight and five-year-old Prince Louis.

While they did not put a timeline on it, sources suggested the Prince would remain at Windsor with them for ‘several weeks’.

William has always made clear that, at this stage in his life, his duty to his family comes ahead of his public role.

However, it is unheard of to have three senior members of the Royal Family out of action at one time, particularly now the King is likely to be away for longer than planned, meaning working royals will be thin on the ground.

And this means there will, inevitably, be more pressure on the future king to step up.

Harry met with his father for the first time in 18 months yesterday – for just 45 minutes – following the King’s shock cancer diagnosis.

Hours after Charles called him personally to break the news, the Duke of Sussex had boarded a plane to London from the US to see him.

But their meeting, at the monarch’s Clarence House residence, lasted less than an hour.

The King, looking remarkably fresh-faced and cheerful despite starting treatment for his unspecified cancer in hospital on Monday, left shortly afterwards by helicopter for Sandringham, his Norfolk estate, with his loyal wife, Queen Camilla.

The Mail understands he is ‘doing well’ and is on ‘very good form’.

William is now completely estranged from Harry following several years of vicious attacks against the monarchy, as well as himself and his wife personally.

Sources made clear that William’s focus is, as it has been for the last few weeks, on the Princess of Wales, who is recovering from abdominal surgery, and their three children in Windsor.

A source previously told the Mail that the future king respects his father’s decision to ‘keep the door ajar’ for Harry, but that is ‘not an option for him personally for the time being.’

The day of family drama comes after Buckingham Palace announced on Monday night that the 75-year-old monarch had begun immediate treatment after doctors discovered an ‘issue of concern’ while he was undergoing surgery last month for an enlarged prostate, which is itself benign.

Subsequent diagnostic tests identified a form of cancer, which has not been specified by royal aides, but has been confirmed not to be prostate cancer, one of the biggest killers of men in the UK.

As a result the King has postponed all his public commitments, although he continues to very much work behind the scenes on his state and constitutional duties.

The Mail revealed yesterday that his condition had been caught at an ‘early stage’ and his prognosis is positive.

His Majesty is said to be ‘looking forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible’.

He rang all close family members personally to break the news to them, including Harry, who was last in the UK for his father’s coronation last May.

However it is not believed that father and son actually met on that occasion, meaning the last time they would have seen each other in person was at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in September 2022.

They have, however, spoken on the phone, with sources close to Harry seemingly leaking details of a a telephone call he had with his father on his 75th birthday last November and how his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, had recorded a video of them singing happy birthday to the grandfather they have barely met.

The King is known to have been deeply hurt by his youngest son’s many attacks on the family since he and wife Meghan acrimoniously quit as working royals and moved to North America, including their series of tell-all television interviews and documentary series, as well as Harry’s memoir, Spare.

Sources say while the King is exhausted by the drama and wants to focus on his role as monarch, he has insisted on never closing the door on his youngest son.

It is not clear whether he invited Harry to visit him or whether it was the prince’s decision to come, but on Monday night he was seen boarding a a flight in Los Angeles.

He arrived at Heathrow airport’s Windsor VIP suite, which is used by the royal family, where he was greeted by two royal Range Rovers, at least three plain clothed Metropolitan Police royalty protection officers and two police escort cars.

Harry is currently taking legal action against the Home Office for withdrawing his taxpayer funded British police protection when he left the UK, arguing that he and has family do not feel safe in this country without it.

Dressed in a black jacket over what appeared to be a casual black t-shirt, Harry sped through the main gates to Clarence House, having swept past the monarch’s official London residence, Buckingham Palace, at 2.45pm, head was turned firmly to one side.

The King and Queen – whom Harry has recently accused of being ‘dangerous’ and ‘a villain’, much to his father’s anger – were already inside, having taken up residence there on Monday in order for the King to attend hospital.

Royal aides have refused to discuss the meeting at all, although it is understood that fact that it even happened is being seen as a cause for ‘optimism’.

Some believe that the fact that Harry flew to London so quickly and that his father saw him immediately could even suggest the start of a ‘thaw’.

But there was no hiding the fact that it lasted just three quarters of an hour, with the same cars sweeping out with Harry apparently inside, although hidden from view, at 3.32pm.

It is unclear whether he plans to stay in the country or return immediately to California where his wife, Meghan, remained. His spokesman did not respond to requests for comment. He has previously stayed at an undisclosed hotel and is unlikely to be offered royal accommodation.

Clearly Charles and Camilla had their bags already packed to leave, as just six minutes later, at 3.38pm, they drove out of the gates too.

The King, looking smart in a suit and patterned tie, looked remarkably healthy and waved and smiled warmly to well-wishers, as did Queen Camilla.

A few minutes later the monarch’s distinctive burgundy helicopter could be seen taking off from the gardens of Buckingham Palace, arriving at Sandringham at 4.20pm.

The Mail understands that it was always the King’s plan to return to his Norfolk estate to recuperate and work quietly, as soon as his first treatment was over.

The Royal Helicopter that brought King Charles and Queen Camilla to Sandringham yesterday

The Royal Helicopter that brought King Charles and Queen Camilla to Sandringham yesterday

Yesterday – February 6 – marks the day that his grandfather, King George VI, died at Sandringham House of lung cancer in 1952 and his late mother, Queen Elizabeth, acceded the throne.

Sources have said that the King appears to be in great spirits, and ‘if you didn’t know, you wouldn’t suspect there was anything wrong with him’.

He is said to be ‘up and about’, keeping up with the red boxes of official paperwork required of him as head of state.

It is understood His Majesty plans to return to London when treatment is required or if he has important official business, including meetings with the Prime Minister.

However his return to Sandringham yesterday suggests that at least their first normal Wednesday conversation will take place by phone.

His treatment will be interspersed with periods of rest recuperation at one of his country residences including Sandringham, Highgrove in Gloucestershire and Windsor.

It is likely that he will also revert to a Covid-style way of working with more telephone meetings and video calls in order to minimise public contact and protect his health during the early stages of medical intervention.

The Prime Minister yesterday said he was ‘shocked and sad’ at the King’s cancer diagnosis, but insisted ministers would ‘crack on’ with the business of government.

Rishi Sunak, who was informed of the news before it was made public on Monday evening, said he remained ‘in regular contact’ with the monarch ‘and will continue to communicate with him as normal’.

The dwindling number of royals who can carry out engagements has been thrown into sharp relief again as King Charles steps back from public duties while being treated for cancer.

While the Firm once boasted a bulging roster of royals to carry out engagements on behalf of the King, the numbers have shrunk in line with Charles’ vision for a ‘slimmed down the monarchy’ – on top of Prince Andrew being forced to step down and Harry and Meghan leaving for America.

With the Prince and Princess of Wales also out of action while Kate recovers from surgery, the brunt of the work will be undertaken by Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, Prince Edward and the Duchess of Edinburgh.

It begs the question of who can step in, and despite Harry and Meghan quitting as senior royals, they are the only available members of the family with any real experience of public duty.

In the past, it’s been suggested that Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie could step up, but it would be a huge change of pace after only a small handful of official  engagements over the years, while popular Zara and Mike Tindall are busy with their business ventures, and have never carried out any kind of royal duties before.

Could Prince Harry return for the royal fold? He is the only royal experienced enough for the job

The late Queen’s cousins, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra also do work on behalf of the King, but are all in their late seventies or eighties, meaning their workload is understandably reduced.

With the three most senior royals out of action, the remaining working royals have an average age of 75,  royal watchers are questioning who could be brought into the fold to step up – with various younger members looked upon.

Perhaps the most obvious choice is Prince Harry, 39, who has jetted back to the UK to see his father following his diagnosis.

While Harry and his wife Meghan are not working royals, after stepping down in 2020, Harry remains a counsellor of the state – meaning he can work on behalf of the King – and is fifth-in-line to the throne.

But the pair are seemingly very settled in California, where live in a £15million Montecito mansion with their two children.

Nonetheless, Harry and Meghan undoubtedly have the most experience in public facing roles, with Harry undertaking royal duties from the age of 21.

Meghan made her first royal appearance with her husband in Nottingham in December 2017, meaning she had more than two years of roles in the Firm.

Prince Harry is believed to have taken off from LAX for London to be with King Charles after he was diagnosed with cancer – but Meghan, Archie and Lilibet are staying at home in California.

Harry’s father called him personally to tell him the devastating news and the Duke of Sussex has jumped on a plane so he could be in the UK later today.

A luxury Range Rover believed to be carrying the British royal was seen arriving at LAX’s VIP terminal last night and there are claims he boarded the earliest flight and could be in London by lunchtime.

His father is believed to be resting at Clarence House today, with Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi seen leaving this morning. It is not known if Harry will stay in central London to be close to the King or stay at Windsor, most likely at the empty Frogmore Cottage.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said: ‘I’m sure Harry will put aside the past right now for this serious issue. The Royal family – including the Sussexes – it’s so important that everyone is pulling in the right direction’.

Kristina Kyriacou, the King’s former press secretary, said today: ‘Charles adores Harry. He didn’t want any of this estrangement. If out of bad news, some good news comes and Harry and the King and the Queen and his brother are reunited – how wonderful.’

The feud between the royals is thawing, with Harry and Meghan said to be keen to get back into the royal fold – and with a  lack of options, Harry could step up to royal duty full time.

Minor royals, who have helped out in previous years include Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, the daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.

With their father out of the picture, a promotion for the sisters could be seen as an olive branch from Charles to his disgraced brother.

In 2019, Eugenie joined the late Queen at the Royal Maundy service at Windsor Castle ‘s St George’s Chapel, and both the York sisters attended the King’s Coronation last year.

In December 2013, the two princesses made an official visit to Germany to promote the UK abroad, most notable for the suggestion they drove through a red light at the Brandenburg Gate in their Union Jack emblazoned Mini Cooper.

The trip was taken at the request of Number 10, and their travel expenses were paid for by Prince Andrew.

But with the Duke of York exiled from public duties, and both Princesses busy with their young families and jobs – Beatrice at Afiniti and Eugenie at the art gallery Hauser and Wirth – they haven’t been at the forefront.

The sisters have long been touted to  take a bigger role in the firm, but it has not yet come to fruition.

While they don’t have a huge amount of experience working for the Firm, they are both involved in a number of charities and have various public facing roles.

Royal experts previously speculated they could step up following Megxit, saying at the time that they are ‘what the firm needs’.

The pair are both young, aged 33 and 35, and could inject some freshness into the Firm, where the majority of the working royals are over 70.

Royal expert Richard Eden has previously said Harry and Andrew should  be stripped of their roles as counsellors of state – the title given to senior royals who can step in if the Monarch is seriously unwell – with the roles given to Beatrice and Eugenie instead.

Writing for Palace Confidential, the Daily Mail’s diary editor, said that Charles could ‘sugar the pill’ by giving more prominent roles to Andrew’s daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie – ‘who have never put a foot wrong’.

‘The revelations from court papers released in America may be largely known already but they nevertheless starkly highlight the Duke of York’s ill-advised friendships with late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and jailed child sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell.

‘For the good of the Monarchy, King Charles needs to distance himself from his brother.

‘Unbelievably, Andrew remains a counsellor of state, just like his nephew Prince Harry.

‘This means that either of them could, in theory at least, be required to stand in for the King and carry out important duties in his absence.

‘The fact that this is even a possibility brings the Monarchy into disrepute.’

‘Andrew is a notoriously proud man, and there is one olive branch that he could be offered by the King that would help ease the blow of his humiliation.

‘His daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, could be given more prominent roles in the Royal Family.

‘They have a great sense of duty, and have never put a foot wrong, so I’m sure they would be happy to carry out more royal duties for the King.

‘Andrew could take pride that the next generation was taking on his cherished former role as a working royal.’

It is also believed the late Queen  wanted her granddaughters tp attend more royal events and carry out more duties, a courtier told Richard Eden.

The pair are both close with their uncle too.

Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi were seen leaving Clarence House in central London on Tuesday morning just hours after the King’s cancer diagnosis was announced.

The pair were seen departing Charles’ residence after an apparent visit but appeared to be smiling from behind the wheel of their vehicle.

While the obvious choice to fill these new gaps maybe Eugenie and Beatrice, who are both Princesses and 9th and 11th in line to the thrones respectively, perhaps Zara and Mike Tindall are better placed to take on engagements.

The couple, who live together on Princess Anne’s Gatecombe Estate in Gloucestershire, already have a closeness with the Wales family, are very popular with the public and have been hailed by experts as bringing ‘a bit of normality’ to the royal family. But could they become working royals?

Both professional sportspeople, their recent trip to Australia, for the Magic Millions competition, saw them receive a hugely positive reception internationally.

But while they are popular, the pair are both busy with business engagements, and may not want to sacrifice lucrative deals for royal duty.

Despite being only 21st in line to the throne, and not having a title, Zara is the fourth most popular living royal, only behind William, Kate and Anne, while Beatrice and Eugenie rank 10th and 11th, according to YouGov.

Eugenie also spends most of her time in Portugal, while Beatrice split her time between the US and UK.

Zara and Mike however have their feet firmly on British soil, with school age children and a jobs in the UK.

Giles Kenningham, Founder of PR & Public Affairs Consultancy Trafalgar Strategy and former Number 10 Head of Press said that Zara and Mike are cementing themselves as the biggest earners in the royal family as Harry and Meghan have become ‘tarnished’.

‘Zara and Mike are sports stars in their own right so have more cachet than other members of the royal family,’ he told Femail.

They have both earned millions from sponsorship deals while staying close to the royal family. But is it perhaps time they traded in their deals for a role in the Firm.

Zara’s mother Princess Anne is often lauded as one of the hardest working royals, and it’s thought the couple could further warm to the public if they followed in her footsteps.

‘They both have big followings, Mike with his podcast and Zara with her equestrian career so have more credibility than others,’ Giles added.

‘They’re often pictured out with their children and seem more like a normal family than a royal one, making them relatable and marketable.

‘Harry and Meghan have become somewhat tarnished which makes them the premier royal couple when it comes to deals’

The couple are also involved with charity work, a keen pillar for any working royal.

Mike has an annual charity fundraiser at The Belfry Golf Club in Sutton Coldfield which aims to raise money for Cure Parkinson’s and the Matt Hampson Foundation.

William and Mike, 45, are known to have a close relationship, perhaps especially since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s move to the US.

David Cameron swapped his signature shirt and tie for a trusty pair of jeans and muddy trainers as he attended the races earlier today.

Walking arm in arm with wife Samantha, 52, the British Foreign Secretary braved the cold today to attend Cocklebarrow races near Gloucestershire.

The former prime minister, who appears to be enjoying political life again, walked into the event with his wife of 27 years.

The pair exchanged cheerful glances as they strolled through the muddy field.

Samantha looked stylish in a £200 corduroy maxi skirt from her brand Cefinn, with contrast stitching.

British Foreign Secretary David Cameron and his wife Samantha were in Gloucestershire earlier today to attend the Cocklebarrow races

Ms Cameron completed the look with a chic oversized blazer and a pair of statement gold hoops.

Meanwhile, David kept it simple and opted for a chocolate-colored hunting jacket with jeans.

The Cameron's would have enjoyed a busy day at the Cocklebarrow races, which included pony racing and P2P racing, and also had a shopping market to browse.

Last month the ex-prime minister revealed his return to politics came after Rishi Sunak refused to let him leave Downing Street when the pair met for drinks.

Lord Cameron made a shock return to Cabinet in November when the Prime Minister appointed him Foreign Secretary as part of his reshuffle.

The former prime minister had enjoyed a drink with Mr Sunak in his flat above Number 10 a week earlier, at what he thought was a meeting designed to rack his brains for friendly advice.

But he was blindsided when the Prime Minister refused to let him leave and instead offered him a return to frontline politics, seven years after he resigned.

Lord Cameron told it Sunday Telegraph: 'He asked my advice about certain things, we were talking about things in general, and I kept grabbing my coat and saying, 'Well, I have to go, I've taken up way too much of your time.' He kept saying, 'No, no, sit down, there's something else I want to ask you.'

Ultimately, Mr Sunak asked him to return as Foreign Secretary and although he was surprised by the directness with which he wanted to say 'yes', Lord Cameron asked if he could think about the decision with his wife Samantha and their children.

It was a full-circle moment for Lord Cameron, who stood on the cusp of Number 10 in 2016 and hugged his family after an emotional farewell in which he announced he would step down as Prime Minister following the Brexit referendum vote.

In his farewell speech, he shared a rare glimpse into family life behind the famous door, with the children sometimes 'kicking the red boxes full of work'.

He recalled how his daughter, Florence, had climbed into his red ministerial box just before a trip abroad and begged to be taken along.

He promised 'no more boxes', so perhaps it was no surprise that 'there was a bit of eye rolling' when Lord Cameron asked his children Nancy (19), Arthur (17) and Florence (13) about his possible return.

'She [the children] were generally positive,” he said. “They know this is what really interests me and they have been very supportive.”

After getting the green light from his family, Lord Cameron told Mr Sunak he would take over the post and the two men agreed the outlines of a comeback deal.

Lord Cameron would use his network of contacts and status as a former leader to boost British foreign policy.

In return, he would drop his lucrative and controversial business interests and agree to toe the line on issues he publicly disagreed with.

Mr Sunak could not contain his joy and was seen rejoicing at the shock move to bring him back.

In a slick video released by No10, the Prime Minister was shown crowing about the fact that news of the ex-PM's return had not emerged ahead of the dramatic reshuffle that saw Suella Braverman dumped as Home Secretary.

Mr Sunak told Lord Cameron: 'This is somehow the best kept secret,' to which the former Prime Minister replied: 'Unbelievable.'

Not everyone was apparently happy with his return to Boris Johnson this month, who appeared to mock his return.

In a thinly veiled swipe at the Foreign Secretary, Mr Johnson suggested that Lord Cameron was a prime example of 'nails peeling from the lids of coffins' around the world.

Speaking to real estate agents in Ontario, Canada, Mr. Johnson said: “Look, I think this is great news for renewals everywhere.”

In his 2019 memoir For The Record, Lord Cameron revealed how he and Samantha had often argued about how his career would affect their private lives.

At the time, she was a 21-year-old art student in Bristol, while he was 25 and working as an adviser to then Tory chancellor Norman Lamont.

Describing how his friends doubted their relationship, he said: 'I was the ambitious Tory apparatchik. She was the hippie-ish art student.

“My friends would say she helped turn a fairly traditional Home Counties Tory boy into someone a little more rounded, questioning and open-minded,” Cameron wrote.

“But a lot of the discussions we had about politics were really about logistics, not issues. Samantha was very concerned about how this would affect our lives. Where would we live? How would we stay together? How much would we see of each other?'

Mike and Zara Tindall have amassed an estimated £30million fortune from a number of shrewd deals, sponsorships and endorsements.

England Rugby legend Mike is the fourth richest former player in the UK with a net worth of £15million.

And his Royal wife Zara is no different, bringing in the same amount from her own business interests and work.

But some of the couple’s money-spinners might surprise some, as Mike and Zara are involved with quite the variety of big names.

Here MailOnline takes a closer look at some of them:

Throughout her life, Zara, 41, has been working closely with a number of brands, which have provided her with a solid portfolio.

She enjoys a long-standing relationship with sailing and outdoor brand Musto.

As an ambassador, she is featured on the firm’s website saying: ‘I started riding horses at a very young age and my mother was into sailing, which is how I became familiar with Musto as a sailing brand.

Musto then developed the equestrian and country range so it was natural to enjoy the brand’s products for this area as well. The cut is flattering for women – you feel very feminine in them, while being functional. Jackets don’t ride up or let cold air in and are made of premium fabrics that are strong enough to allow you to work and look good at the same time.’

It was previously estimated that King Charles’ niece could have earned £500,000 for deals with Musto.

Mike, 44, has also been bringing money for partnerships of his own.

In 2019, Zara’s husband announced a new partnership with Pueris CBD, a company selling cannabis products.

Its website proudly mentions the association, adding: ‘Here at Pureis lots of our friends lead active lifestyles, with many who have spent their lives dedicated to sports.

‘Like Sir AP McCoy OBE who was 20-time Champion Jockey, and Mike Tindall MBE rugby legend having 75 caps for England and played on England’s winning world cup team in 2003.’

When he shared the new of his partnership on Twitter, Mike also offered his followers on social media a discount code.

It is estimated he will have received a £50,000 fee upfront as well as possible commissions from sales from his promotion.

Zara and Land Rover – £200,000

Zara has been collecting partnerships with legacy brands for years, one such relationship is Land Rover.

She became an official brand ambassador in 2006, strengthening the luxury 4×4 maker’s already impeccable royal connections.

The Queen was thought to have had no fewer than 30 Land Rovers, while they are also driven by all of the Queen’s children and most of her grandchildren – as well as the Princess of Wales’ family.

Zara became the first person to be given the keys to a Range Rover Evoque in 2011 and has presented a women’s scholarship for training in engineering, sponsored by the firm. And every year they sponsor her equestrian competitions.

It is estimated that Zara could be earning up to £200,000 a year from Land Rover.

Mike spent 17 years playing rugby before his retirement in 2014.

He made 75 appearances for England, including playing in the 2003 World Cup winning team alongside Johnny Wilkinson.

Following his retirement as a player, Mike worked on the coaching staff for Gloucester, his former rugby club, where he is thought to have earnt between £100,000-£200,000 a year, according to Now to Love

Although it is unclear exactly how much Mike earnt as part of the World Cup-winning team, The Telegraph reported at the time that his teammate Johnny was set to earn more than £1.7 million the following year through endorsement deals, which gives some idea of how lucrative a place in that squad may have been.

These days, it is estimated that an England Rugby star who has made more than 50 international appearances earns around £325,306, according to Sky Sports.

Zara and Rolex – £100,000

Zara enjoys a partnership with luxury watchmaker Rolex, having been a ‘testimonee’ – or ambassador – for the brand, since 2006.

It was previously estimated that Zara was likely to get £100,000 for the partnership.

The mother-of-three will also receive all the watches she was seen wearing at several equestrian competitions or when out and about with her family.

Rolex proudly declares: ‘Zara became a Rolex Testimonee prior to winning individual gold at the World Equestrian Games in 2006 in Aachen. Her career highlights include team silver at the 2012 London Olympics and at the World Equestrian Games in Caen in 2014.

‘She is proud to be part of Rolex’s longstanding support for equestrianism that spans more than 60 years and shares with the Swiss watchmaking brand a quest for perpetual excellence through precision and superior performance.’

While the pizza firm offers regular meal deals to fast food fans, Mike had a less cut-price deal with them himself.

He appeared in an amsuing advert with his friend and former rugby teammate James Haskell in October last year.

The commercial played on Mike’s position within the royal family and saw him land in a helicopter. He jumped out with a load of pizza boxes, which he then delivers to Haskell.

Mike tells him he has ‘friends in high places’ in the TV ad, which is estimated to have made him £300,000.

Zara was also announced as the first Magic Millions Racing Women Ambassador in 2012.

She and now travels to Surfers Paradise in Queensland every year for the Gold Coast Yearling Sale, seven days of auctions which culminate in a major race meeting where all contenders are horses bought at previous Magic Millions auctions.

‘This is an ongoing partnership that sees Zara attend events every year to present gifts to the winners,’ Mischa Jolin, Managing Director of Influencer, PR and Branding agency, Edencancan previously told MailOnline.

‘She is an integral part of the brand which empowers women within the equestrian field.

‘I would anticipate this partnership is worth circa £125k per year.’

Mike appeared in an Amazon Prime TV ad last year – another comedic performance alongside former teammate Haskell, who tries to enlist his help with a delivery.

Mike seems reluctant and tells him ‘Hask, I can’t talk mate, I’m trying to get some England v New Zealand tickets and even I can’t get my hands on them!’

A customer called Archie is then surprised when a delivery turns up at his door and Mike jumps out of a box.

Brand expert Nick Ede said: ‘For the Amazon advert, which he is not in as much, he would have got around £150,000 for this.’

The couple raised eyebrows in 2020 when they both agreed to act as global ambassadors for a tech firm behind a ‘digital health passport’ app linked to COVID-19.

At the time, branding experts said Zara and Mike stood to make £200,000 from the deal with VST Enterprises.

The Manchester-based cyber security firm was behind the V-Health Passport, an app which could be scanned to reveal whether the user had tested negative for coronavirus or had antibodies.

In January last year it was reported that the firm had entered administration

Then in September 2022 it was reported that the assets of the company were bought by a Davis Co. Holdings subsidiary

Mike is said to have earned £150,000 for his stint in the I’m a Celebrity jungle last year.

Producers got their money’s worth, with him staying in the contest until almost the end, bagging fourth place.

His friend and podcast co-host Alex Pain suggested he could have taken on the work for the money.

He added: ‘He’s on the sporting circuit, but it’s worth remembering that the last two years there haven’t been pretty much a days work for people in that sort of industry.

‘He’s a guy who’s in the public eye and that’s where he earns his money.’

The Zara Phillips Collection by Calleija is a range of equestrian inspired pieces of fine jewellery with an exclusive price tag.

A ‘saddle ring’ she’s designed for the Australian brand costs around £7,000 and Zara will receive royalties from sales.

The collaboration was seen as a passion project at the time and Zara designed the pieces as well as modelled them.

She said at the time: ‘Hopefully there’s no age limit for the women this collection is aimed at. I wanted the collection to be beautiful, wearable pieces that I can wear every day, that work from day to night.’

Mike runs a company, Kimble Trading Ltd, which oversees various business activities – including managing his speaking appearances.

It is thought that Mike earns a six-figure salary from the company, although he came under fire during the pandemic after it was revealed Kimble Trading had received furlough cash.

According to The Sun, the company’s accounts said: ‘The outbreak of Covid-19 and subsequent restrictions imposed have led to a number of events in 2020 being cancelled.’The company has taken advantage of all available government aid in order to support the business and its employees through the crisis.’ .
