  1. EMPATHY: People with ADHD are often acutely aware of the emotional states of others. Research shows that business leaders with strong emotional intelligence (EQ) are most likely to succeed. In business, EQ is now more important than IQ.
  2. BROAD CONSCIOUSNESS: I can happily handle 15 projects at a time. My mind doesn’t work linearly, so I can multitask with ease. This is perfect for running a large business.
  3. HYPER FOCUS: With many ADHD types, you can become absorbed in a subject for hours. On a deadline, nothing can bother me and everything else seems to disappear.
  4. CREATIVE THINKING: In business, diverse thinking wins. We celebrate diversity in nature – we need to do more with people. Neurodiversity is essential. Top recruiters, from tech companies to MI5, are out to get it.
  5. RESISTANCE: Getting through school and other challenges. ADHD can lead to an increase in resilience. A thick skin is essential to the ‘fail fast, learn fast, fix fast’ nature of business.

Women worldwide are now having fewer children on average than previous generations.

The trend, which leads to greater access to education and contraception, more women taking up jobs and changing attitudes toward childbearing, is expected to shrink the populations of dozens of countries by 2100.

Dr. Jennifer Sciubba, author of 8 Billion and Counting: How Sex, Death, and Migration Shape Our World, told MailOnline that people are choosing to have smaller families and the change “is permanent.”

“So it’s wise to focus on working within this new reality, rather than trying to change it,” she said.

Sex education and contraception

An increase in education and access to contraception is one of the reasons behind the decline in the global fertility rate.

Education about pregnancy and contraception has increased, with sex education classes starting in the US in the 1970s and becoming compulsory in Britain in the 1990s.

“There’s an old saying that ‘education is the best contraception’ and I think that’s relevant” to explaining the fall in birth rates, said Professor Allan Pacey, an andrologist at the University of Sheffield and former chairman of the British Fertility Society.

Elina Pradhan, a senior health specialist at the World Bank, suggests that better-educated women may choose to have fewer children because they fear they will earn less if they take time off before and after giving birth.

In Britain, three in 10 mothers and one in 20 fathers report having to reduce their working hours because of childcare, ONS data shows.

They can also become more exposed to different ideas about family sizes through school and the connections they make during their education, which encourages them to think more critically about the number of children they want, she said.

And better-educated women may know more about prenatal care and child health and may have greater access to health care, Ms. Pradhan added.

Professor Jonathan Portes, an economist at King’s College London, said women’s greater control over their own fertility means that “households, and women in particular, both want and are able to have fewer children.”

More women are entering the workplace

There are more women in the workplace now than there were fifty years ago – 72 percent compared to 52 percent – which has contributed to the halving of the global fertility rate over the same period.

Professor Portes also noted that the decline in birth rates may also be due to the structure of labor and housing markets, expensive childcare and gender roles, which make it difficult for many women to combine career ambitions with having a family.

The British government has implemented “the most anti-family policies of any government in living memory” by cutting back on services that support families, along with benefit cuts that “deliberately penalize low-income families and children,” he added.

As more women enter the workplace, the age at which they start a family has shifted. Data from the ONS shows that the most common age at which a woman born in 1949 gave birth was 22. But women born in 1975 were most likely to have children at age 31.

In another sign that late motherhood is on the rise, half of women born in 1990, the most recent cohort to reach age 30, remained childless at age 30 – the highest rate ever recorded.

Women repeatedly point to work-related reasons for delaying having children, with research showing that most women want to move up the career ladder before becoming pregnant.

However, this move could lead to women having fewer children than they had planned. In the 1990s, just 6,700 IVF cycles took place each year in Britain – a technique to help people with fertility problems have a child. But this shot up to more than 69,000 in 2019, suggesting more and more women are struggling to conceive naturally.

Decreasing sperm count

Reproduction experts have also raised alarms that biological factors, such as declining sperm counts and changes in sexual development, could threaten human survival.

Dr. Shanna Swan, an epidemiologist at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, wrote a landmark study in 2017 that found that worldwide sperm counts have fallen by more than half over the past four decades.

She warned that ‘chemicals everywhere’, such as phthalates in toiletries, food packaging and children’s toys, are to blame. The chemicals cause hormonal imbalance, which can cause “reproductive devastation,” she said.

Factors such as tobacco and marijuana smoking and rising obesity rates may also play a role, Dr. Swan said.

Studies have also shown that air pollution lowers fertility rates, suggesting that air pollution causes inflammation that can damage egg and sperm production.

However, Professor Pacey, an expert on sperm quality and fertility, said: ‘I really don’t think changes in sperm quality are responsible for the decline in birth rates.

‘Actually, I don’t believe the current evidence that sperm quality has deteriorated.’

He said: ‘I think a much bigger problem for falling birth rates is the fact that: (a) people are choosing to have fewer children; and (b) they wait until they are older to get them.”

Fear of bringing children into the world

Choosing not to have children is cited by some scientists as the best thing a person can do for the planet, compared to reducing energy use, travel and making food choices based on their carbon footprint.

Scientists at Oregon State University calculated that each child adds approximately 9,441 tons of carbon dioxide to a woman’s “carbon legacy.” Each ton is equivalent to driving around the entire circumference of the world.

Experts say the data discourages climate-conscious people from having children, while others opt out of having children because of fears about the world they will grow up in.

Dr. Britt Wray, a human and planetary health fellow at Stanford University, said the decline in fertility rates was due to “fear of a deteriorating future due to climate change.”

She was one of the authors behind a Lancet survey of 10,000 volunteers, which found that four in 10 young people are afraid of giving birth because of climate concerns.

Professor David Coleman, emeritus professor of demography at the University of Oxford, told MailOnline that people’s decision not to have children is “understandable” due to adverse conditions such as climate change.

Musk reposted a Neuralink video of the first of its human testers demonstrating the technology on Wednesday.

“Livestream of @Neuralink demonstrating ‘Telepathy’: controlling a computer and playing video games just by thinking,” his caption read.

In the video, the tester, 29-year-old Noland Arbaugh, talks about his experience playing an electronic chess game on a large screen.

Arbaugh was paralyzed after a “freak diving accident” that dislocated two of his vertebrae, leaving him paralyzed from the neck down, he explained in the video.

The company has previously said that Neuralink’s mission is to restore autonomy to individuals with “unmet medical needs,” with a vision to “unlock human potential” in the future.

After receiving FDA approval for the first human clinical trials in May 2023, Arbaugh is the first of six people to be cleared to test the chip after hundreds of animal tests.

In the video he shows off his chess skills without ever touching the computer where it is hosted.

“See that cursor on the screen? That’s all me… it’s all brainpower,” he said as an accompanying Neuralink engineer looked at the computerized chess game.

Arbaugh then elaborated on how he started learning to use the brain chip.

“So we started trying a few different things,” he began.

“We actually went from what we would call ‘imagined movement’ versus ‘attempted movement,’ and we started with an attempt to move.”

“This meant I had to think about moving the computer cursor left and right, and from then on it just became intuitive to me,” the tester finished explaining.

Arbaugh has been paralyzed since 2016 when he was injured while working at a summer camp for children. Since then, he has had “absolutely no feeling” from his shoulders down.

Neuralink’s potential to improve lives is phenomenal.”

Kerri GrayX (formerly Twitter)

“This is one of the things you guys have enabled me to do… I haven’t really been able to do much in the last few years,” he said of Neuralink.

The tester then explained the feeling he had the first time he got results while trying to move the computer mouse telepathically.

“It would just move to where I wanted it to be, it was such a wild experience… it’s crazy, it’s crazy,” he recalled.

“I feel so lucky to be a part of this, every day it feels like we are learning new things.”

Although he’s the only one experiencing it firsthand, Arbaugh isn’t the only one amazed by the technology’s success so far.

“Absolutely amazing inspiring stuff. One day this will help paralyzed people walk again,” one user wrote.

“Another Elon Musk company that improves the condition of man! Elon loves humanity! His results speak for themselves!” added another user.

“Neuralink’s potential to improve lives is phenomenal. Great job Neuralink,” read another comment.

HUMAN SUBJECT CONTROVERSY

While Arbaugh is now all smiles and has more access to tasks and recreation than before Neuralink, news of the chip’s impact on his first human subject was met with divisiveness.

In a speech at the company’s headquarters in December, Musk talked about the speed at which Meuralink would move forward with human testing.

“We want to be extremely careful and make sure it will work before we put a device in a human,” he said.

“Progress may seem painfully slow at first, especially as it applies to humans, but we are committed to bringing it to scale in parallel.”

In late January, Musk posted an announcement that Arbaugh’s procedure had been completed, which drew mixed reactions from the public.

Many people had reservations about moving from technology to human subjects.

“The negative potential of this makes me very uncomfortable,” one person wrote in a reply to Musk’s X-post.

“I’m terrified just thinking about it,” said another.

Someone else replied: “Elon can turn off this fear with a chip in your brain.”

“Matrix time,” said another, referring to the iconic dystopian film.

8

“The first cyborg is born,” said a fifth.

Others, meanwhile, were amazed by the progress and shared their excitement about seeing the results.

“Good job Neuralink and Elon!! This could very well be an important moment in history,” one user wrote.

“This is great news, we are expanding to the last two borders. Space and spirit, I can’t wait for the next company lecture. So excited!” said another.

‘EXTREME SUFFERING’ IN ANIMAL TESTING

In April 2021, Neuralink shocked the world with a video of a macaque known as Pager with one of the chips playing Pong.

The animal was seen manually using a joystick and then operating it only with its mind through a wireless connection to the chip.

Neuralink reportedly implanted Bluetooth chips in the brains of several monkeys to see if they could communicate with computers through a small receiver.

Some subjects are believed to have “suffered infections from the implanted electrodes placed in their brains,” according to a complaint filed by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM).

The group filed a complaint with the USDA, claiming it had evidence that macaques used in previous trials had suffered horrific suffering.

In 2022, the USDA opened a federal investigation under the Animal Welfare Act, Reuters reported.

About 1,500 animals — including more than 280 sheep, pigs and monkeys — have reportedly died as a result of Neuralink testing since 2018, the outlet reported, citing data it reviewed.

The company was accused of subjecting animals to ‘extreme suffering’, including drilling holes into the skull of one monkey.

Neuralink conducted its monkey experiments in collaboration with scientists at the University of California, Davis.

“No monkey has died as a result of a Neuralink implant. First, in our early implants, to minimize the risk to healthy monkeys, we chose terminal monkeys (sic) (already almost dead),” Musk replied in a meme on X.

NEURALINK TEST SUBJECT HORROR STORIES

ALLEGATONS v Neuralink claim test monkeys endured ‘extreme suffering’.

During experiments, 15 of the 23 monkeys are said to have died.

In one case, a monkey was found missing several fingers and toes, possibly caused by self-mutilation, legal documents claimed.

Another case revealed that a female macaque had electrodes implanted in the brain, causing him to experience vomiting, gagging and wheezing.

An autopsy later showed that the monkey had a brain hemorrhage.

Bloody skin infections, collapsing monkeys and other gruesome side effects were also reported in the results, court documents show.

Elon Musk has shared stunning footage of the first person to use the Neuralink brain chip to control a computer cursor and play video games just by thinking.

The groundbreaking patient, paralyzed man Noland Arbaugh, 29, was seen in a video shared with X using only his mind to play a game of chess.

‘Do you see that cursor on the screen? That’s all me… it’s all brainpower,” he said from his wheelchair. He said in the video that he had a “freak diving accident” eight years ago that left him paralyzed from the shoulders down.

His successful use of the technology marks a breathtaking development and reinforces experts’ belief that it could revolutionize care for the disabled.

Arbaugh beamed with happiness throughout the segment, showing the mouse moving back and forth across the online chessboard.

Musk announced a month ago that the first person had had the chip implanted, saying at the time that Arbaugh could “move a mouse across the screen just by thinking.”

He still seemed baffled by how the groundbreaking technology actually worked and compared moving the mouse across the screen to using ‘The Force’ from Star Wars.

“Progress is good and the patient appears to have made a full recovery, with neural effects that we are aware of,” Musk said in a Spaces event on X.

Neuralink’s technology uses a robot to surgically place a brain-computer interface implant into a part of the brain that controls the intention to move.

The system consists of a computer chip attached to small flexible wires that are stitched into the brain by a ‘sewing machine-like’ robot.

In the operation, the ‘sewing robot’ removes a small piece of the skull, connects the thread-like electrodes to certain parts of the brain, sutures the hole closed and all that is visible is a scar left from the incision

Musk said the fitting procedure takes just 30 minutes, requires no general anesthesia and allows patients to return home the same day.

Arbaugh suffered his debilitating injury while working at a children’s camp in Texas in 2016, and said he had “absolutely no feeling” below his shoulders for years.

He added that he “loved to play chess” before his injury, continuing, “This is one of the things that you all have enabled me to do… I haven’t really been able to do much in the last few years. .’

In a GoFundMe as of 11 months after his accident, Arbaugh was said to be struggling with his “lack of mobility.”

‘Noland is bound to a large electric wheelchair that he has to take everywhere. The wheelchair, coupled with his condition, makes traveling anywhere an ordeal,” the fundraiser said.

Arbaugh was assisted in the segment by a Neuralink engineer, who at one point asked the patient to explain how he was able to move a computer mouse telepathically.

“So we started trying a few different things,” he said. “We actually went from what we would call ‘imagined movement’ versus ‘attempted movement’, and we started with an attempt to move.”

This involved thinking about moving his right hand left and right, and “from there it just became intuitive to me,” he said.

Comparing the technology to using “The Force” from Star Wars, Arbaugh said he was taught to move the cursor around the screen by “staring somewhere on the screen.”

Describing the first time it worked, he said, “It just went to where I wanted it to go, it was such a wild experience… it’s crazy, it’s crazy.”

OUR biology prevents us from traveling around the cosmos and learning about the mysteries of deep space in a human way.

Well, that is the opinion of Volodymyr Usov, former chairman of the Ukrainian National Space Agency turned cosmic entrepreneur.

Elon Musk has spoken out about his plans to colonize Mars in the 2050s – and is currently testing the rocket for the job.

But if that’s what people want, we might need people to volunteer to become genetically modified astronauts, Usov argues.

“We want to thrive in space, not just survive for a few weeks,” he told The Sun.

Although the future Usov describes feels like it’s been plucked from a science fiction novel, or torn from the pages of the next space-bound blockbuster, he’s serious about it.

‘We have to figure out how to actually build a society [in space]starting with a little one and then growing,” he continues.

“Because what we are here on Earth is the result of millions of years of evolution and connection to a certain environment on this planet that for some strange reason was really beneficial.

“On Mars or anywhere else in the universe, as far as I know, it’s not as favorable as it is here on Earth.”

It’s a problem… that we must address, or we will never be able to expand beyond Earth.

Volodymyr Usov, former chairman of the Ukrainian National Space Agency

While Musk and his billionaires build transportation, Usov believes private industry and scientists should invest more in adapting human biology to space.

If we don’t do that, he says, space travel will be virtually impossible in the long term.

“We have to adapt very quickly and without technology helping us with this adaptation, I don’t think this can actually happen,” says Usov.

“Because if you take the community to Mars… they can’t move around, they can’t communicate properly, they can’t have families… society as we see it now is impossible unless we adapt our biology to the new environment.”

No benefits in space

Do you think life on earth is difficult? Living in space will be infinitely more difficult.

Humans will face much greater risks of cancer from radiation, in addition to ruptured lungs and dangerously swollen skin due to the low air pressure on Mars.

And that’s just the Red Planet in our solar system; the unique challenges of other worlds will require entirely different adaptations to survive.

“It’s not just one way in which we have to change ourselves for space,” Usov explains, “because every environment, every planet, every new galaxy will have its own conditions, and we need a plan to adapt to this specific environment.” to adjust. .

“For our evolution, natural selection works fine… but when we talk about this absolutely new environment, it will be difficult to go just below natural selection, because it requires millions of years and large populations.

“We won’t have one in space.

“It’s a problem… that we must address, otherwise we will never be able to expand beyond Earth.”

Usov suggests that our biological weaknesses can be “fixed” with gene editing, which involves changing genes that make life on a given planet unsurvivable.

If you can help people and save lives, and you don’t, that’s unethical.

Volodymyr Usov, former chairman of the Ukrainian National Space Agency

Gene editing adds, removes and changes DNA in the genome, and is of great importance in tackling diseases.

As Usov sees it, gene editing essentially uses a natural process in our bodies to bypass evolution.

“Our genomes are mutating every day, we just don’t have direction for that,” he says, adding that the process isn’t necessarily something “new.”

To avoid the obvious ethical concerns, adults should nominate themselves for the process.

Although Usov notes that gene editing of embryos, eggs or sperm could be introduced later to ensure that new, spacefaring genes are passed down from generation to generation.

A skydiver without a parachute

A skydiver’s chances of survival without a parachute are small, but not zero.

Giving the green light to gene editing would be an astronaut’s parachute if he lives off-planet, said Usov, who is aware of the negative reactions people have to genetic modification.

“I’m sure the majority of people will react negatively, just as they react to any radical innovation,” he says.

“If you have the technology in your hands that can actually increase your chance of survival, increase your chance of a better life in a different kind of environment, it is actually unethical not to do this.

“If you can help people and save lives, and you don’t, that’s unethical.”

Usov points to today’s working astronauts, who – like athletes and entertainers – naturally possess a higher level of skills that make them suitable for their work.

They are already the result of genetic selection, he says, which is fine for those transported to and from the ISS, but won’t be enough to build a society off-planet.

“If we are talking about the colonies with thousands of people, of course we would not be able to get the people with all those genomes in such large quantities,” Usov explains.

‘That’s why we need to get average, ordinary people to edit their genomes to create the new traits that will help them survive. [off Earth].”

If this vision of the future comes to fruition, humans may one day be able to live long and happy lives on Mars – and on worlds beyond.

But whether these people will be called “human” – or even identify as such – is a cultural mystery waiting to unfold.

Starship is the spacecraft that will land boots on the moon in 2026 and will eventually become the ferry that takes people to Mars.

The rocket was launched on March 14 at 1:25 PM GMT / 8:25 AM CT after several setbacks due to weather conditions.

Despite a windy start, Starship broke the records of its second launch attempt in November, which exploded about 10 minutes after launch.

During the third flight, SpaceX tried procedures it had not tested before, including:

  • Opening and closing Starship’s cargo door (where Starlink satellites will eventually be deployed from)
  • A demonstration of propellant transfer during the coastal phase of the upper stage
  • A controlled reentry into Earth’s atmosphere

These mission objectives made this spaceship’s most ambitious flight ever.

Achieving a propellant or fuel transfer while in the air will be essential for landing humans on the moon and for having enough gas to reach Mars and other deep space locations.

SpaceX announced that the payload door test and propellant transfer demonstration have been completed, making the launch a success.

The third test flight was to demonstrate the first-ever re-ignition of a Raptor engine in space.

However, the team decided to skip that process and save it for Starship’s fourth flight.

After the second launch attempt, SpaceX founder Elon Musk said that Starship’s third attempt had a good chance of success.

Musk congratulated the SpaceX team with X: “Starship has reached orbital velocity! Congratulations.”

Instead of the Pacific Ocean, Starship and its booster focused on a new trajectory and a soft landing in the Indian Ocean.

Life on Mars

Starship is the embodiment of Musk’s personal mission to make humans an interplanetary species.

The 33-engine, $3 billion mega-rocket is designed to carry up to 100 people from Earth to the moon and eventually to Mars in the 2030s.

In a SpaceX livestream ahead of launch, the team said Starship is “critical” to creating a “self-sustaining city” on Mars.

From the start, Starship was designed with the capacity to store more than 100 tons of cargo.

This is so it can store everything needed to build permanent bases on both alien worlds.

Not only is it the tallest rocket ever flown, Starship’s first stage, known as the Super Heavy booster, is the most powerful rocket ever built and can produce up to 7.6 million kilograms of thrust.

That’s almost double the current record of NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS).

Starship, developed as part of a $1.15 billion contract with NASA, refers to the reusable stainless steel upper half of the rocket.

While the bottom half of the rocket is the booster, known as Super Heavy.

Not only will the rocket be critical in future Mars missions, but it has also been selected to launch a new outpost intended to replace the aging International Space Station.

Elon Musk’s SpaceX Aces will conduct its third test flight with a spaceship on Thursday

San Francisco: Billionaire Elon Musk’s SpaceX successfully launched the third test flight of its massive Starship vehicle on Thursday.

With winds wreaking havoc and delaying the launch by an hour, the flight took off at 9:25 a.m. EDT (6:55 IST) from SpaceX’s Starbase facility near Boca Chica Beach in south Texas.

“Launch of a spaceship!” the company wrote on X.com.

‘The spaceship has reached its orbital speed! Congratulations @SpaceX team!!” SpaceX founder Elon Musk added in a message.

This comes after two test flights that were only partially successful in April and November last year.

After the flights, SpaceX was grounded by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

On Wednesday, the agency cleared the third test flight, saying the company “met all safety, environmental, policy and financial responsibility requirements.”

“The third flight test is designed to build on what we’ve learned from previous flights while pursuing a number of ambitious goals, including successfully taking off on both stages, opening and closing Starship’s cargo door, a demonstration of propellant transfer during upper stage coast. phase, the first-ever restart of a Raptor engine in space, and a controlled reentry of Starship,” the company wrote in a mission statement on its website.

SpaceX noted that the third flight “will also follow a new trajectory, landing the Starship in the Indian Ocean.”

“This new flight path will allow us to try new techniques, such as burning engines in space, while maximizing public safety,” the report said.

The 120-meter-high Starship rocket, together with the Heavy booster, aims to help astronauts land on the moon during the manned Artemis 3 mission in 2026.

It looks like an alien spaceship, or a new galaxy that has suddenly appeared in the sky.

But a mysterious blue spiral that appeared in the middle of the Northern Lights was actually left behind by Elon Musk’s SpaceX.

Experts say the spiral shape appeared when SpaceX’s rocket blew off unnecessary fuel during its long descent into the ocean.

When the rocket fuel was ejected, it froze and crystallized in the shape of a spiral, which was then illuminated by the sun.

Photographers in Iceland and Norway captured the bizarre, unnatural phenomenon, which has an eerie, UFO-like appearance.

Photographer Bettina Begtoft captured the apparition on March 5 in Norway with the Barents Sea in the foreground

What is the SpaceX Spiral?

Experts say a mysterious spiral shape may appear in the night sky when a rocket vents unnecessary fuel after launch.

When the fuel is emitted, it freezes and crystallizes in the shape of a spiral, which is then illuminated by the sun.

In the latter case, the upper stage of one of SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rockets released fuel shortly after liftoff, causing a blue spiral to appear.

According to Spaceweather.com, “SpaceX spirals” are a common occurrence over the Pacific Ocean.

SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California on Sunday, March 4 at 5:05 PM ET (10:05 PM GMT).

It carried 53 small satellites into orbit, a mission known as Transporter-10.

As the scrapped second stage of the rocket passed over the Barents Sea in the Arctic Ocean, it performed a ‘de-orbit burn’: its engines were fired to allow it to re-enter Earth’s atmosphere.

As it spun, the exhaust turned into a spectacular spiral, catching the light of the sun.

Those still awake in Northern Europe in the early hours of March 5 were there to witness the strange sight.

Photographer Bettina Begtoft captured the appearance in Norway with the Barents Sea in the foreground.

“I noticed it at 2:02 a.m. local time,” Begtoft said spaceweather.com.

‘To the naked eye it looked white, but my Nikon D750 camera showed the beautiful blue color.’

Another image of the same SpaceX spiral was captured at Shang Yang in the town of Akureyri, northern Iceland.

“I caught this on March 5 around 1 a.m. local time in Akureyri,” Yang said.

“It looked otherworldly against the northern lights.”

This isn’t the first time SpaceX has tricked observers into thinking UFOs might be present.

In January last year, the company left a blue-tinged spiral over Maunakea, Hawaii, after launching a new satellite.

It was captured on camera by the Hawaiian Subaru Telescope and grew from a small dot into a spiral, gradually expanding and fading.

And in June 2022, a new blue spiral across New Zealand’s skies confused onlookers who thought it was of extraterrestrial origin.

The spiraling gas plume lit up the sky over Nelson, a city on the tip of New Zealand’s South Island, and traveled 750 kilometers south to Stewart Island.

These spirals are a “routine byproduct” of SpaceX operations and are common over the Pacific Ocean, according to spaceweather.com.

Olivier Staiger, an independent astronomer based in Switzerland, managed to predict that the March 5 SpaceX spiral would occur.

In January 2023, SpaceX left a blue-tinted spiral over Maunakea, Hawaii after launching a new satellite

He now thinks another one will occur in October during SpaceX’s Transporter-12 mission, and that it could be accompanied by more auroras and meteor showers.

There are two major meteor showers in October – the Draconids (October 8-9) and the Orionids (October 21-22) – that could coincide with Transporter-12.

In addition, a comet named Tsuchinshan-ATLAS is expected to peak and become visible from Earth in September or October 2024.

WHAT ARE AURORAS AND WHAT TRIGGERS THE BEAUTIFUL NATURAL VIEWS?

The Northern and Southern Lights are natural light spectacles that are activated in our atmosphere and are also called the ‘Auroras’.

There are two types of Aurora: Aurora Borealis, which means ‘dawn of the north’, and Aurora Australis, ‘dawn of the south’.

The displays light up when electrically charged particles from the sun enter the Earth’s atmosphere.

Usually the particles, also called a solar storm, are deflected by the Earth’s magnetic field.

But during stronger storms, they enter the atmosphere and collide with gas particles, including hydrogen and helium.

These collisions emit light. Aurora displays appear in many colors, although light green and pink are common.

TikTok is facing a ban in the United States after Congress voted overwhelmingly to force the app’s Chinese parent company to divest.

The House of Representatives passed the bill by a vote of 352 to 65 on Wednesday morning, despite calls from Donald Trump and Elon Musk to oppose the bill.

Now senators will decide whether the national security threat TikTok poses is worth the headaches of voters who love the app, and they have been calling lawmakers nonstop urging them to vote against the measure.

The House China Select Committee says Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials through ByteDance are using TikTok to spy on the locations of US users and dictate its algorithm to carry out influence campaigns, making it a national security threat.

ByteDance would have five months after signing the law to get rid of TikTok. If not, app stores and web hosting platforms are not allowed to distribute it in the US

The bill has a good chance of becoming law as a bipartisan group of lawmakers proposed the bill and Joe Biden confirmed he would sign it if it also passes the Senate.

But as the bill has gained momentum, so has the opposition. Trump threw cold water on it last week, insisting that if TikTok were banned, its rival Facebook would “double their revenue.”

“I don’t want Facebook, which cheated in the last election, to do better,” Trump wrote in a social media post. ‘They are a real enemy of the people!’

Elon Musk joined Trump in opposing efforts to control TikTok’s influence, calling it government censorship, in a post on X Tuesday.

‘This law isn’t just about TikTok, it’s about censorship and government control! If it were just about TikTok, it would only mention ‘foreign control’ as an issue, but that’s not the case,” Musk said.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., also voted against the bill, mentioning Musk by name, praising him for restoring her account on

“What’s to stop the U.S. government from forcing the sale of another social media company in the future that claims to protect U.S. data from foreign adversaries?”

‘I think this bill could cause future problems. It opens Pandora’s box and I am against this bill,” Greene said in the House of Representatives on Wednesday.

“This is really about controlling US data, and if we cared about US data, we would stop the sale of US data universally, not just to China.”

But the bill’s author, Rep. Mike Gallagher, R-Wis., backtracked that Wednesday morning.

“TikTok is a threat to our national security because it is owned by ByteDance, which is doing the bidding of the Communist Party,” Gallagher said on the floor.

“This bill therefore forces TikTok to break up with the Chinese Communist Party. It does not apply to American companies.’

Gallagher argued that his bill would only affect companies controlled by foreign adversaries.

Greene was among several key Republican members who voted against the bill, including Reps. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., Tom McClintock, R-Calif., Nancy Mace, R-S.C., and more .

Across the aisle, “Squad” members Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., also voted against the measure.

One lawmaker, Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, voted present.

TikTok opposed the “ban” in a statement released after the House passed the bill.

‘This process was secret and the bill was blocked for one reason: it is a ban. We are hopeful that the Senate will consider the facts, listen to their constituents and realize the impact on the economy, on seven million small businesses and on the 170 million Americans who use our service.”

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson said in a statement that the vote “demonstrates Congress’s opposition to communist China’s efforts to spy on and manipulate Americans and signals our resolve to defeat our enemies.” to be frightened.’

“I urge the Senate to pass this bill and send it to the President so he can sign it into law,” he continued.

In response to the growing support behind the bill, TikTok sent a push notification to its 100 million users yesterday saying, “Your voice matters in ending the lockdown.”

The notification prompted users to contact their member of Congress to urge them to vote against the proposed bill.

As a result, congressional offices received hundreds of calls about the bill Tuesday and Wednesday morning, congressional aides told DailyMail.com.

Many callers appeared to be children or concerned parents pleading for the app not to be banned.

Users are told that the bill threatens TikTok’s survival, but what it actually does is force the parent company to divest — something callers are largely in favor of once employees explain the bill’s nuance.

“TikTok’s campaign to have users call their representatives shows how much control they have. This campaign is reminiscent of typical Communist Party tactics,” Rep. Greg Murphy, R-NC, said in a statement to DailyMail.com on Tuesday.

“Unfortunately, these callers don’t understand what they are really advocating: they are following orders from Beijing. The CCP hopes to copy its modus operandi of telling its citizens what to do.”

His office phones ‘exploded’ according to staff. Murphy voted in favor of the bill on Wednesday.

Rep. Juan Ciscomani, R-Ariz., told DailyMail.com that he is in favor of the bill and despite the flood of calls: “We will talk to any voter who wants to call us and talk to us through this avenue.”

“We explain our position, and it is a normal part of the process,” he said.

Rep. John Duarte, R-Calif., told DailyMail.com that while he doesn’t yet know how he will vote on the bill, “he won’t because 16-year-olds are calling me from all over the country.”

The bill passed the committee last week on a unanimous 50-0 vote.

In a statement, TikTok said of the bill’s passage through committee: “This legislation has a predetermined outcome: a total ban on TikTok in the United States. The government is trying to deprive 170 million Americans of their constitutional right to free speech. This will damage millions of businesses, deny artists an audience, and destroy the livelihoods of countless creators across the country.”

Lawmakers have also expressed reservations about how the TikTok bill could affect First Amendment protections.

“I think it’s a terrible idea and it’s the hysteria that’s sweeping through both parties now.” Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., told DailyMail.com on Friday.

“In America, we don’t just tell people that you can’t have a business because we don’t like you. And 150 million people are using their First Amendment freedom to express themselves on TikTok, and you can’t just take that away from them.”

Fellow Kentucky Republican Rep. Thomas Massie agreed.

‘The so-called TikTok ban is a Trojan horse. The president will have the power to ban websites, not just apps,” he wrote on X.
