Omid Scobie has escaped the drama surrounding Endgame and jetted into Los Angeles, heading straight for a luxury West Hollywood hotel for burgers and cocktails, MailOnline can reveal today. The journalist and royal author, 42, flew out of Britain amid ongoing questions about the Dutch version of his new book naming two royals accused of discussing Archie’s skin color before he was born. After leaving LAX airport, sharing a picture as he approached customs, Mr Scobie ate at the Sunset Tower Hotel, beloved by Hollywood stars for decades with Clark Gable, Errol Flynn, Marilyn Monroe, Michael Caine, Quincy Jones, Roger Moore and Zsa Zsa Gabor regulars at the art deco establishment.

His LA trip came amid claims his UK agent did send a draft manuscript of Endgame naming the two 'royal racists' to be translated into Dutch. If true, the revelation exposes Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's 'cheerleader-in-chief's' insistence that he 'never submitted a book that had those names in it'. It is not known who Scobie dined with at the hotel, 90 minutes drive from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's multi-million dollar Montecito mansion. Harry and Meghan have yet to comment on Endgame. The Dutch translation has caused the Royal Family consternation after King Charles and the Princess of Wales were named as the senior royals who allegedly discussed Archie's skin tone.

The Dutch translation has caused the Royal Family consternation after King Charles and the Princess of Wales were named as the senior royals who allegedly discussed Archie’s skin tone.

Despite the silence from the couple, sources close to the duchess insisted that Meghan Markle and members of Team Sussex did not hand Omid Scobie her letter to King Charles about the two so-called 'royal racists'. The usually privacy-conscious couple have been urged to sue Mr Scobie over the Dutch translation at the heart of the scandal. A source told The Times that United Talent Agency had earlier sent a draft version of the book to publisher Xander Uitgevers which contained the names. However, a final proof of the 400-page tome was later sent but it is understood the translator had been working from an earlier draft. It comes as it emerged Buckingham Palace is mulling whether to take legal action after King Charles and the Princess of Wales were named as the senior royals who allegedly remarked about Archie's skin color before he was born.

Mr Scobie, 42, has refused to apologize to Charles and Kate Middleton for the embarrassing mishap which resulted in the explosive book being hooked from the shelves in the Netherlands. The under-fire author has shrugged off criticism claiming the names were 'known for a long time' while putting the blame at the Dutch publisher's door declaring: 'I never submitted a book that had those names in it.'

Yet Dutch translator Saskia Peeters (pictured) insisted Charles and Kate's names were in the book. Speaking to MailOnline from her home in Arnhem on Thursday, she said: 'As a translator, I translate what is in front of me. The names of the royals were there in black and white. I did not add them. I just did what I was paid to do and that was translate the book from English into Dutch.' The second translator, Nellie Keukelaar-van Rijsbergern, then told The Sun: 'We are professionals and we've done this for years, both of us. It's unfair.'

Mr Scobie's initially blamed a 'translation error'. Anke Roelen, managing director of the publisher Xander, said a rectified edition of the book would be back on shelves on December 8 and simply blamed 'an error' for it being pulled. Mr Scobie's excuse was mocked by Piers Morgan during a diatribe against the Sussexes' favored journalist. The former Good Morning Britain host went on to reveal that Charles and Kate were named in the book during his Talk TV show Piers Morgan: Uncensored. Morgan added, however, that he did not believe the allegations of 'racist comments'. He said: 'Because I don't believe any racist comments were ever made by any of the Royal Family, and until there is actual evidence of those comments being made, I will never believe it.'

Mr Scobie, appearing on BBC's flagship Newsnight program, said he was 'hurt' and 'frustrated' by the week's events. But he refused to apologize to the royals concerned, saying: 'It's not for me to apologize because I still want to know what's happened.' Buckingham Palace officials will meet with aides to Prince William this week for critical talks in how to deal with the fallout from accusations of racism. The gathering of the two households will see them discuss all how to respond, with 'time and care' to be taken before any decisions are made, one source told the Sunday Telegraph. All options are believed to be 'on the table', including legal action.

King Charles III is said to be taking the furore over Omid Scobie's book Endgame 'very seriously'

Charles, who flew back to the UK after several days at he COP28 environment summit in Dubai last week, is said to be taking the furore surrounding the book ‘very seriously’. It is reported that during the week Charles will discuss the situation with senior advisers, while also carrying out his duties with aides telling the Mirror it will be ‘business as usual’ with royals to be seen as ‘rising above’ the row. A source close to the Palace told the Sunday Telegraph: ‘Discussions [have been] had and we’ll continue those discussions this week, but not in a crisis talks manner… Decisions [will be] made with care and time and professionalism rather than rushed over a weekend.’

Meanwhile, the Mail understands that Buckingham Palace is investigating who at their end could have seen the letters between the King and Meghan Markle in which the names were allegedly mentioned. However, it is confident the leak has not come from within, believing only a 'tiny handful' of people have ever seen them. Harry and Meghan, meanwhile, have not commented publicly on the scandal. In another blow to the couple, the pair have been excluded from the high society wedding of his childhood friend Hugh Grosvenor. The Duke of Westminster, is said to have wanted to invite the Sussexes but decided against it to avoid clashes on his big day amid soaring tensions between the royals following the release of Mr Scobie's book.

  • The daredevil was caught in a whirlpool on Llandudno beach near Cape Town

This incredible footage shows a thrill seeker trying to get as close to drowning as possible – only saved when a crashing wave washes him to safety on a rock.

The mystery man was coastal sailing – moving along a rocky coastline by jumping and swimming from high cliffs into the sea and then climbing back up – in South Africa.

But here on Llandudno Beach near Cape Town he jumped 10 meters off a granite boulder into the calm but icy sea, but within seconds it turned into an almost deadly swell.

As the adrenaline junkie headed into what he thought was a rock-surrounded take-off point, he was battered by huge four-foot waves crashing in from all sides.

The daredevil soon realizes he’s in trouble when he’s knocked forward by a powerful breaker, only to be sucked back out by the current that pounds him like a cork.

It can be seen spinning in a vortex caused by currents coming from all directions in what is known as a ‘washing machine’, which threatens to pull it under.

Video showed the man jumping into the calm ocean off Llandudno beach

Suddenly he was swept away by the foaming sea, by dangerous rocks

Suddenly he was swept away by the foaming sea, by dangerous rocks

He gets a last minute reprieve as the water rushes out and his bare feet touch the razor-sharp reefs below and he tries to climb up a sheer rock face.

Then 2 large foaming breakers struck hard from behind and the side in a pincer motion and plucked him from the rocks and sucked him underwater through a jagged channel.

The tombstoner is dragged helplessly into deep water and falls into a six- to eight-foot swell as he swims for his life, aided by the buoyancy of his wet suit.

He can be seen by his friends filming the drama on a mobile phone as they try to return to the safety of the rocks from Llandudno’s relentless sea currents.

In the past year, a 17-year-old boy, a 15-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy all drowned along that rocky coastline notorious for strong currents.

But this cliff jumper, who is clearly tiring quickly as the icy water saps his energy, finally gets a stroke of luck when a wave helps push him to shore.

As he is washed up on the barnacle-encrusted granite, he falls to his hands and knees, but fortunately another big wave doesn’t crash forward and drag him back out.

The 2 minute and 29 second video will have lasted a lifetime for the lucky cliff jumper.

A lifeboatman from the National Sea Rescue Institution who watched the video said: ‘That was his lucky day as most swimmers would not have come out of that situation alive.

‘He is clearly a strong and powerful swimmer and doesn’t make the mistake of fighting the waves but goes where they take him and that saved him from drowning.

‘But he was still helpless against the force of the waves and was lucky not to be knocked into the rocks because if he had hit his head it would have been game over.

“That is a dangerous stretch of coast and many lives have been lost over the years because people underestimated the cold and the strength of the current,” he said.

The video has gone viral on Twitter and has been viewed more than 6.6 million times. Almost everyone agreed that the swimmer was extremely lucky not to have become a ‘statistic’.

PatriotPie203 said: “Man, that was close. Look how tired he was at the end. If he was hit again by a wave that sucked him back, he would meet Poseidon.

ViktorGavorn said: ‘This could easily be a video of him dying. He was lucky when he landed back on the rocks. He’s an idiot, but I’m glad he’s okay. He needs to learn his lesson.”

Jezza said, “That was survival. He almost didn’t make it. The waves were heavy as soon as he got close to the rocks. Most would have drowned in that sea.”

The record height for a cliff jump is 60 meters and is held by Brazilian Laso Schaller, 35, who jumped from a Swiss waterfall in 2015 and hit the water below at 120 km/h.

Llandudno is a resort for the super rich and Prince Harry and Cliff Richard and Elton John have all stayed there and David Beckham almost bought an ocean house there.

It is a 20-minute drive from Cape Town and is known for its surfing and nudist beach Sandy Bay and local regulations prohibit the opening of pubs, restaurants or shops.

New York: Pennsylvania authorities are desperate for a suspected murderer with survival skills who escaped from the Warren County Jail Thursday night using a rope made from prison sheets.

The suspect, 34-year-old Michael C. Burham, was last seen in the prison gym about 11:20 p.m. Thursday, according to Warren and Jamestown police who shared the information on Facebook.

CCTV footage also shows Burham entering the gym with three other inmates, as reported by Erie-Times News, citing an affidavit filed on Friday.

The accused was last seen training in the prison gym

Burham was last seen doing pull-ups on exercise equipment before escaping the building through the roof.

After his escape, the suspect tied a rope “consisting of several prison sheets tied together” and slid down and landed on the porch. From there, he jumped to the ground and escaped, as reported by the New York Post, citing the complaint.

A history book

Burham was held on charges of arson and burglary and was also a suspect in a murder investigation. He was linked to a previous carjacking and kidnapping of a local couple while trying to escape.

The suspect is considered very dangerous and police have asked people to be vigilant and to report immediately if they see him.

According to Warren Police, Michael C. Burham was last seen wearing an orange and white striped jumpsuit, a denim jacket and Crocs shoes.

The manhunt

Police are using all available resources, including a dog squad, off-road vehicles and drones, in their efforts to recapture the defendant, as reported by CNN, citing Warren County spokesman Cecile Stelter.

Local authorities and federal agencies, including New York’s Jamestown Police Department, are teaming up to apprehend the escaped suspect.

Burham faces 26 charges and is due to be heard on July 11, as reported by the New York Post.

The manhunt to arrest the suspect is still ongoing.

Warren City is located in northern Pennsylvania, about 18 miles from Jamestown, New York.

An expert psychiatrist has debunked the psychological impulses behind the world’s greatest escape from court.

Impulsiveness, opportunism and hard calculations all contribute to the split-second decisions made by those who make daring attempts to escape the courtroom.

In the work of forensic psychiatrist Dr. Sohom Das, he analyzes criminals as they make their way through criminal justice systems around the world.

The expert doctor cut his teeth working in Britain’s courts, prisons and secure psychiatric units – including the infamous Broadmoor Hospital, which houses some of Britain’s most notorious criminals.

In his career, he works with murderers, rapists, thieves and arsonists, acts as an expert witness in court and helps treat and rehabilitate dangerous and violent offenders.

Now Das has offered his insights into those who try to avoid their time by taking a break from it – and the psychological impulses that drive them to do it.

In addition to background factors, such as poverty and growing up in crime, character elements, such as a lack of empathy, can lead someone to look for a big break.

But in some cases, it’s just an impulsive and risky nature that tries to set them free.

Here, MailOnline examines some of the greatest court escapes in history – as well as the motive behind them.

Forensic psychiatrist Dr. Sohom Das has made a psychoanalysis of criminals’ biggest escapes from court

Gerald Hyde II

Gerald Hyde II made an extraordinary escape in 2015, sneaking out of the courtroom, slipping out of his prison clothes and slipping out of the courthouse doors.

The handcuffed criminal, then 24 years old, made a daring escape dodging an armed guard while turning his back.

A video shows him fleeing court in Benton County, Washington, by taking off his shoes and removing his prison shirt before using it to hide his handcuffs.

He is then shown running out of the courthouse before simply fleeing the doors of the courthouse after being convicted of methamphetamine possession.

Police tracked Mr Hyde II to an apartment block just three miles away and returned him to prison less than two hours later.

Afterwards, the court reviewed its security measures and concluded that Hyde had managed to escape through a “blind spot.”

In his analysis, Dr Sohom Das said: ‘I think some criminals are quite impulsive and also risk takers.

“I think that’s relevant because that’s what we’re seeing here with these people trying to get out of court. It’s a reflection of their natural personality.’

Kodey Howard and Tanner Jacobson

Two inmates tried to escape the Lewis County Courthouse in Washington – apparently with nothing more than a whim to get away.

Kodey Howard and Tanner Jacobson saw an opportunity to run for it.

However, judge RW Buzzard took matters into his own hands as he took off his black robes and chased after them.

Courthouse security footage showed the judge grabbing Howard at the exit door, while deputies grabbed Jacobson a few blocks away.

Jacobson, then 22, of Onalaska and Howard, then 28, of Winlock were each hit with a misdemeanor charge of second-degree escape.

It is not clear which charges the duo were initially facing in court.

Cameras around the building captured the drama of the escape attempt.

Staircase surveillance footage shows Jacobson taking the lead and quickly descending the four flights of stairs to the lower floor, sometimes taking several steps at a time.

Inmates Kodey Howard and Tanner Jacobonson stormed out of the courtroom toward the exit

Dr. Das concluded: ‘Another element of some criminals is opportunism. So they don’t necessarily go out to offend. But if they see something there, like a possible burglary, they grab that opportunity with both hands.

“What we see here are just opportunistic opportunities to just run and escape the law.

“They’ll know there’s a possibility of another charge of escape from custody.”

Judge RW Buzzard was right behind him after taking off his robes and giving chase

Jacobson said after the incident: “We were sitting there on the benches together, and he said, ‘I’m going to run.'”

Howard explained his thought process during the escape by saying, “I said, ‘What am I doing? What did I just do? I have to get on with it now. There’s nothing – I can’t stop here.

‘There’s nothing I can do now. I’m screwed.”

Jacobson added, “I don’t even know why I did it. I’d be out of here if I hadn’t run away.’

Dr. Sohom continued: ‘I’m sure there is such a cost-risk balance in all their heads that they are calculating, maybe even subconsciously.

“For me it would depend on the length of their sentence. If someone has a fairly minor charge, it’s not really worth it because you could get caught and serve more jail time as opposed to someone who has a murder charge.

In addition, another element would be how likely they are to evade the police in the long run. So someone who has connections to the criminal underworld, who has colleagues who are going to help them, could succeed.

“But someone who doesn’t have that and has nowhere to go will be caught sooner rather than later.”

Located 500 meters off the pristine coast of Croajingolong National Park in eastern Victoria, remote Gabo Island is small, only 2.4 km long and 0.8 km wide, but it packs a punch.

Visitors can explore the 19th-century Gabo Island Lighthouse, which, at 47 meters (154 feet) tall, is Australia’s second tallest lighthouse, and ‘walk the island’s pink granite shoreline and rock pools… or relaxing on the sandy beach,” suggests Park Victoria.

There will be plenty of wildlife spotting opportunities meanwhile – the island is home to 21,000 pairs of breeding penguins and 20,000 pairs of white-headed petrels. Visitors should also keep their eyes peeled for passing whales, dolphins and seals.

While the island makes a great day out, it’s also possible to stay there – in the historic assistant lighthouse keeper’s cottage, which can accommodate up to eight guests.

The island has been praised by Tripadvisor users, with “Run to see the world‘ describes it as ‘one of the most unique and spectacular islands to visit in Australia’.

A handful of charter boat companies 14km (8.6 miles) away in Mallacoota provide transfers to and from the island, while a small airstrip means you can arrive by light aircraft.

A witty baby has escaped the shackles of his crib by dragging him across the bedroom floor while still in it.

Incredible camera footage from Colombia shows the adorable moment when the sneaky baby sprang into freedom and leapt into the light hallway.

The smooth maneuver saw the young child, who is not identified in the clip, use his physical strength to stagger the crib all the way to another bed across the room.

In one fell swoop, he does a somersault on the mattress before crawling away and running quickly to the nursery door.

Perhaps the most extraordinary part of the clip is when the toddler returns to put the crib back in its rightful place, making sure it leaves no clue behind.

The smart baby escaped the shackles of his crib by dragging him across the bedroom floor

Toddlers can be agile little creatures given the chance and this spirited baby was no different.

The little boy saw the perfect opportunity to jump ship and quickly worked to come up with a master plan.

The short video begins with the baby boy all alone in the crib.

He looks around and begins to scratch his head, visible in the throws of hatching a grand plan.

He tries to climb over the bars of the crib in a hurry, before seeming to abandon the plan and think again.

The boy lies face down on a mattress and uses his abdominal muscles to steer the cot toward the bed.

He exhausts himself, but quick thinking leads him to try other parts of his body.

All alone in his nursery, the boy lays face down on the mattress and uses his abs to steer the cot toward the bed

He then uses his arms to apply firm pressure to the cradle and the genius plan is now well underway.

He finally reaches the larger bed safely and slowly but surely rolls out of the bed and falls flat on the mattress.

He wastes no time and quickly grabs his teddy bear before running for the door.

Walking towards the open door, he hesitates – it seems that the little one has forgotten something.

He returns to push the crib back into place, so as not to raise the alarm for suspicious adults.

Satisfied with himself, he waddles cutely into the rest of the house.

And it’s not the first time a mischievous toddler has been caught on camera.

In Phoenix, Arizona, a baby had a helping hand to forge his own great escape.

A crafty toddler was caught on camera helping her little brother escape from his crib by giving him a stool and pulling him over the bars.

Ruth Pippin was shocked when her “thief fat” kids, Rylie, four, and son Levi, two, sauntered into her and husband Todd’s bedroom before she’d woken either of them.

To find out how her son had managed to escape from his crib, she started watching the recordings on his baby monitor, fearing he might have fallen and hurt himself.

But the hilarious footage showed Rylie sneaking into her brother’s room and the two of them hatching a plan to get him out.

As the four-year-old holds a stool, Levi begins to point to one end of his bed as if gesturing for her to put it there.

Ignoring her brother’s plan, she decides to throw it against the bars at the other end of the bed before climbing onto the leather chair next to his bed.

Working together, Rylie holds on tight as she leans back and gently slides Levi across the wood and onto the chair before the pair happily waddle out of his room and head to their mother.

  • Boy, 6, escaped fire at mansion in western Sydney
  • Broke a window to escape before being helped by neighbours
  • It is believed that the burning candle started the fire

A nine-year-old boy believed to have been left home alone has escaped a terrifying house fire after Good Samaritans came to his aid.

Emergency services were called to Rodley Avenue in Sydney’s western Penrith shortly before 6.15pm on Saturday and found a two-storey town house engulfed in flames.

A neighbor walking by the house saw the fire and helped the boy get out of the burning house after the little boy smashed a windshield trying to escape.

A six-year-old boy, left home alone, narrowly survived the blaze with minor cuts after breaking a window on the ground floor of the townhouse and escaping the blaze.

Firefighters blocked the road as they worked to put out the blaze, but the building was destroyed (pictured)

Paramedics treated the boy for cuts before he was taken to Nepean Hospital for further treatment.

NSW police told Daily Mail Australia officers had been advised the boy was the only person in the building at the time the fire broke out.

The boy’s mother came home shortly after emergency services arrived.

Residents stood in the street talking to police officers.

Firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to neighboring homes, but the house was destroyed.

The fire is being treated as not suspicious.

Firefighters and crime scene officers are working to determine if a burning candle in the kitchen was the cause.

A child-at-risk report will be filed, police confirmed.

An Alabama inmate who escaped from jail last spring and eluded arrest for nearly two weeks was sentenced Thursday to the rest of his life in prison, the maximum sentence for first-degree escape.

The inmate, Casey White, escaped from the Lauderdale County Jail in Florence, Alabama in May 2022. He was assisted by a detective, Vicky White, who was not related to him. After leaving prison for a courthouse appointment that was later revealed to be a ruse, they were on the run for 11 days and embarked on a nationwide manhunt that ended with his arrest and her death after a police chase in Indiana.

At a Lauderdale County courthouse on Thursday, the local CBS-affiliated channel reportedMr White, 39, said he felt like “the most hated man in the world” and that he loved Ms White, whose relatives attended the sentencing hearing and to whom he apologised.

“Vicky took me out because she said, ‘Good was good. Wrong is wrong.’ The first person to show me affection. The first person to hug me in six years,” he said. Ms White, 56, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after the police chase ended in a car crash. Mr. White surrendered.

At the time, Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton said he believed the two had been in a “romantic relationship” for at least two years. Lawyers for Mr. White confirmed their relationship.

“We believe he’s just a master manipulator,” Chris Connolly, the Lauderdale County District Attorney, said of Mr. White.

Mr Connolly added that Ms White’s mother intended to speak in court on Thursday but was ultimately too emotional to do so.

Under Alabama law, a person can be charged with felony murder if they cause someone’s death while committing a crime such as arson, burglary or escape. But last month, in a move that surprised both the prosecution and his own defense team, Mr. White pleaded guilty to a first-degree escape charge in exchange for dropping a misdemeanor charge of murdering Mrs. White.

Mark McDaniel, a lawyer for Mr White, said in a telephone interview that he had “never had a case like this” in his 46 years as a lawyer, calling it “very unusual”. He said that Mr White had not wanted anything derogatory about Mrs White to be said in court.

“I just wanted to remind everyone,” said Mr. McDaniel, “she had the keys.” He added: “Everyone was talking about how bad Casey is. Well, he was in the cage and she had the keys.

At the time of his escape, Mr White was awaiting trial for the fatal stabbing of a woman in 2015, This is reported by the US Marshals Service; he will be tried in August. He had already served a 75-year sentence at William E. Donaldson Correctional Facility in Jefferson County, Alabama, for prior convictions including two carjackings, multiple shootings and kidnapping.

The life sentence for first-degree escape will be served concurrently with Mr White’s 75-year sentence, Mr McDaniel explained, “so that he may be eligible for parole at some point in his life.”

Mr Connolly noted that Mr White will not be eligible for parole until 2081 and that the judge has ordered that Mr White or any person acting on his behalf “receive any money they may receive based on his committing this crime” must be disclosed. ”, in case books or movies emerge from the national attention the case has received.

“We would file a civil suit and ask the court to confiscate that money,” he said.
