Tonight saw the BRIT Awards return, with the biggest talents in music hoping to be recognised for their creative talent – and many dressing to impress too.

The ceremony – held at the 02 Arena in London – will be hosted by Maya Jama, Clara Amfo and Roman Kemp.

There will also be a host of stars performing during the ceremony including Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding.

But while the stars have undoubtedly put hours into their look, unfortunately, some did not look their best.

Among those who missed the mark are band The Last Dinner Party, Caroline Polachek, and Rebecca Ferguson.

Band The Last Dinner Party opted for a ‘more is more’ style look, with an emphasis on corsetry and underwear as outerwear

Musician Caroline Polachek (pictured) was unmissable in her extreme cone bra, which she combined with a maxi-skirt and heavy eye make-up

HORN BRA: Will she start a new trend with her horn bra? Caroline Polchek was extremely bold with her BRITS look tinight

Musician Caroline Polachek (pictured) combined heavy make-up with a very unusually-shaped bra for the big event

Meanwhile, Rebecca Ferguson (pictured) opted for an outfit at the other end of the scale, wearing a gingham two-piece skirt suit. Unfortunately, her top and bottom did not quite match

Meanwhile, Rebecca Ferguson (pictured) opted for an outfit at the other end of the scale, wearing a gingham two-piece skirt suit. Unfortunately, her top and bottom did not quite match

While underwear as outerwear has been a trend on the catwalk, The Last Dinner Party took the look to the extreme, with what appeared to be a Marie-Antoinette-inspired corset-heavy look.

However, even more extreme was singer, writer, and producer Caroline Palochek who opted for an unusual cone bra.

Her cups were in the shapes of horns. She paired the statement piece with a maxi-skirt, which was laced up at each side, and finished her look with a heavy make-up look, with emphasis on her eyes, which she circled with heavy black eyeliner.

On the other end of the scale, Rebecca Ferguson opted for something a little more ladylike: a two-piece skirt suit in pink and white gingham.

She paired the outfit with appropriate white Mary-Jane style shoes. Unfortunately though, her blazer and skirt did not quite match, with the pink of her skirt much darker than of her blazer.

Her hair was styled into a low bun, and she wore a classic make-up look, accessorised with pearls.

Overall, the suit was a nice fit, with the shoulders and waist tailored perfectly for the star – but the top was tight, meaning she put on a very busty display.

While this suited the overall look, as the BRIT Awards usually attracts more outlandish looks, Rebecca’s outfit overall stood out compared to some of the more on-trend looks.

Singer Tallia Storm harked back to earlier BRIT Awards, donning a blazer flaunting the Union Jack

However, while the top of her outfit was appropriate, the bottom appeared to be missing

Singer-songwriter Becky Hill (pictured) was another of the artists attending the event tonight to put on a very busty display

Abbey Crouch donned a daring silhouette - which she pulled off well - but the pattern was very bold

The overwhelming big cat print meant the celebrity was among those on tonight's worst dressed list

ROAR: Abbey Crouch (pictured) was among the worst dressed tonight, in this all-in-one animal-print piece

Maddie Grace Jepson missed the mark in her all-black maxi-dress, which left little to the imagination

Raye dressed in an off-the-shoulder gown which was not quite age or event-appropriate

The dress suited the star's shape well and she matched it well with her hair and make-up

Musician Raye looked stunning in her off-the-shoulder black sequinned maxi-dress, but it was not quite age or event-appropriate for the rock event

Singer Tallia Storm donned an event-appropriate Union Jack blazer (reminiscent of Ginger Spice’s similar dress from the nineties).

However, while her blazer – which she paired with an oversized white shirt and loosely tie black tie – hit the mark, Tallia appeared to forgot to pair her top with any bottom.

On top of that, she wore high heeled block heeled shoes – but the ankle straps of on the shoes were a poor fit, looking uncomfortably tight. A better fit would have added more polish to the overall look.

Another busty display was donned by singer-songwriter Becky Hill, who wore a strappy black maxi-dress for the event.

While the bottom was a full skirt, the top was made from skimpy straps, which threatened to fall out of place at any moment.

Another celebrity to don a daring piece was Maddie Grace Jepson, who wore a sheer black mai-dress, which little to the imagination.

Conversely, musician Raye looked too conservative in her off-the-shoulder black sequinned maxi-dress.

While the star undoubtedly looked exceptional with her dress and coordinating hair and make-up look, she missed the opportunity to wear something more event-appropriate.

Mancunian rapper Aith (pictured) was among the worst dressed for picking non-seasonal colours - his brown outfit would have been more appropriate for an Autumn event

Ella Henderson opted on for an on-trend pair of flared trousers - but the fit was not immaculate

In addition, the large pussy bow blouse made the top of Ella's outfit a little 'mesy'

X Factor competitor Ella Henderson won style points for her oversized hat which suited her, but needed an extra fitting to make her trousers fit better

Oti Matabuse opted for a beautiful make-up and hair look, but her neckline was very voluminous and may have suited a less extravagant pair of shoes

Jessie opted for a beautiful dress, but made the worst dressed list for dressing so conservatively for the event

The star looked stunning, but her natural hair and make-up did not match some of the more outgoing looks

Jessie was another of the stars who looked beautiful in a nude, sequinned frock, but again, the look was somewhat conservative for the occasion

After many, many months of pink, Jess Glynne was one of the only attendees still wearing the hue, in her dress made from an unforgiving fabric

Mancunian rapper Aitch was another of the attendees to incorporate animal print into his outfit, and he kept the amount appropriate.

However, opting for Autumnal colours, donning brown from head-to-toe, meant his look was not quite seasonally appropriate.

While X Factor competitor Ella Henderson showed off a mixture of wins and losses, overall, she made the worst dressed list.

Her oversized hat fit suited her well. However, paired with her oversized pussy bow blouse, her top half looked a little messy.

Meanwhile, while her black flares were on-trend, another fitting would have ensured that the seams sat better.

The beautiful Oti Matabuse did not disappoint when it came to her make-up and hair.

The musician donned a head-to-toe pattern in the form of a two-piece suite

She wore a natural make-up look, wearing an on-trend 90s berry lip

While Romy donned a cool two-piece suit for the Brits, with crepe-soled loafers, her outfit felt slightly underwhelming

It's difficult to tell whether Eve's outfit is a dress or coat dress due to the over-decoration of the top of the outfit

However, the musician should be given praise for her fishtail skirt, the shape of which suits her extremely well

Eve opted for a very shiny dress for the event, putting her on the worst dressed list. While the skirt suited her, the top of the dress was too busy

Mel C showed off her extremely impressive abs in her outfit, but made the worst dressed list as she failed to wow with the underwhelming ensemble

DROWNED: Shaznay Lewis was drowned by the huge amount of fabric in her gown

And while her make-up impressed, her hair was less formally styled

Shaznay Lewis impressed with her make-up look, but she was slightly drowned by her black, long sleeved frock

However, the oversized neckline of her dress may have been better balanced with a pair of less eye-catching shoes, with the two features battling it out for attention.

While not badly-dress per se, after the colour pink has been done to death at awards ceremonies, Jess Glynne was one of very few attendees to don the hue.

BRIT AWARDS 2024 NOMINATIONS

A record 98 artists are up for the new 2024 BRIT award, which has been designed by British visual artist and painter Rachel Jones.

Leading the pack is Raye, who has broken the record for garnering the most nominations in a single year, with seven in total.

The British singer, 26, is up for Album Of The Year for her long-awaited debut album My 21st Century Blues. Her third single, Escapism, is nominated for Song of the Year.

Raye is also included in the five strong Best New Artist category and will also compete as a nominee in the categories for R&B Act and Pop Act.

She has beaten reigning champions Craig David, Robbie Williams and the Gorillaz who all had been nominated for six awards in previous years.

The non-gendered Artist Of The Year Award sparked outrage last year, after it replaced individual Male and Female categories, but then failed to include any female or non-binary artists among its five nominations.

This year however, thanks in part to the category being doubled in size, there are six female nominees out of the 10, including Raye.

Arlo Parks, Jessie Ware, Lil Simz, Olivia Sims and Dua Lipa make up the female nominees, while Central Cee, Dave, J. Hus and Fred Again… are also nominated.

Her dress shape suited her well, but the fabric used to make the dress was very unforgiving, meaning she could have spent more time on her undergarments.

Another of the celebrities who made the worst dressed list despite looking nice in their outfit was Nia Archives.

The record producer and DJ done an ombre maxi-dress in yellow and black, with a ripped-style uneven hemline and chunky platform strappy heels.

While the shape of the dress suited the musician, and her hair and make-up were well-styled, the outfit looked slightly too casual for an awards event – with the dress more similar to something you might wear in the Summer.

Eve is another star who made the worst dressed list, but who has to be praised for some aspects of her outfit.

The musician donned what is either a coat dress or dress – the amount of detail on the top half, which looks messy, makes it difficult to tell.

However, the fishtail shape of the skirt looks extremely good on the singer, who also impressed with her lavender crop and natural make-up look.

Despite showing off her extremely impressive abs, Mel C makes the worst dressed list for joining the list of celebrities who sported underwhelming ensembles.

She donned a black two-piece suit with a black bandeau top, and her hair pulled into a high ponytail.

A far more daring outfit was donned by television personality Olivia Attwood, who paired an oversized cream blazer with a lace bodysuit.

Shaznay Lewis was another of the stars who was among the worst dressed list.

The musician donned a maxi-dress made from black sequinned fabric, with a high neck and long sleeves.

The sheer amount of fabric drowned the star, who paired the look with the natural but appropriate make-up look, but an underwhelming down hair ‘do.

English television presenter and entrepreneur Will Best donned an unusual emsemble.

He opted for a knitted black sleeveless jumper with a white abstract decoration.

British singer-songwriter Griff poses on the red carpet

It is tricky to know where to look at her dress, as it has so many varied details

MAXIMALIST: British singer-songwriter Griff poses on the red carpe in her maximalist outfit, which is full of many, many details

He paired it with plain black trousers and patent loafers, creating an unusual awards look.

Host Clara Amfo was another of the attendees to join the worst dressed stars.

While the host should be complimented for the rich green satin of her frock, her mullet-style gown, which is short at the front and long at the back, is an unusual choice.

Donning a maximalist look, Fleur East also made the list, donning a skintight bodysuit, with decorated gold panels, topped off with a floor-length black shawl.

Another star who opted for a maximalist look was British singer-songwriter Griff, whose long frock mixed a range of fabrics, layers, shapes, and long sleeves, making it difficult to know where to look first.

A record 518,100 migrants moved to Australia in a year, with Labor critics now accusing them of “playing politics” as population growth hits its highest level since the early 1950s.

Net arrivals from overseas accounted for 83 per cent of Australia’s population growth in the 2022-2023 financial year, new Australian Bureau of Statistics data released on Thursday showed.

A record 518,100 migrants moved to Australia in the year to June, compared to 106,100 net births, for an annual growth rate of 624,100.

The net immigration figure was even higher than the 510,000 numbers the Treasury Department had forecast in this week’s Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook.

As recently as the May Budget, the Treasury predicted that 400,000 migrants would move to Australia in 2022-2023, with this figure referring to permanent and long-term arrivals.

According to updated Treasury forecasts, released on Wednesday, 1.625 million migrants have moved to Australia in the five years to June 2027.

This was much higher than the 1.495 million over five years forecast in May.

Home Secretary Clare O’Neil on Monday pledged to reduce total arrivals by 185,000 in four years by cracking down on international students abusing the visa system.

But Treasury figures predicted that without this reduction, 1.805 million migrants would have arrived in the five years to mid-2027.

Treasurer Jim Chalmers on Wednesday night accused Opposition Leader Peter Dutton of “playing politics” when asked about his claim that Australia’s population was growing faster than previously predicted.

“Peter Dutton is notorious for playing politics on issues like this and he knows next to nothing about economics,” he told the ABC’s 7.30pm programme.

“He should know that what we are talking about here is that there would be 180,000 people on top of those different projections if we had not taken the steps we proposed on Monday when Clare released the migration strategy.

“He will play the usual Peter Dutton style negative and dirty politics.

“Our job is to manage the economy and the interests of the Australian people.

“That means we need to put in place a strategy that will result in 180,000 fewer migrants than would have been the case in the updated forecast I published today.”

7.30’s summer host Laura Tingle noted that Dutton had cited the Treasury Department’s MYEFO figures released this week, but she failed to get Dr. Chalmers on this point, leaving out the total number in the five years to June 2027.

Australia’s population growth rate of 2.4 percent during the last financial year, or double the 1.2 percent rate of 20 years ago.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese came to power in May 2022, five months after Australia’s borders reopened.

Texas: Millions of fish have been found dead on the coast of Texas. The case belongs to Quintana Beach. According to officials, these fish died from suffocation in water due to a rise in temperature. According to the Texas Wildlife Department official, there is a lack of oxygen in warm water.

This makes it difficult for the fish to breathe and they die. Most of the fish that die as a result of this process are of the menhaden species. Their videos are going viral on social media.

IT IS A GENERAL PHENOMENON THAT FISH DIE IN SUMMER

According to the New York Post, it’s common for these fish to die in the summer. The water on the coast warms up faster than the water deep in the ocean. Often the fish get stuck in the water near the shore and are unable to return.

Before the fish die, they try to take in oxygen by rising above the water, while some go to the foothills for the cold. Dead fish have continued to come ashore in Texas since Friday. However, the administration has said that they are removing them and cleaning the beach.

Two US park police officers used excessive force against two Australian journalists covering a George Floyd protest outside the White House in June 2020, according to an investigation by the Inspector General of the Ministry of the Interior.

The investigation, published Wednesday, found that the officers violated U.S. Park Police policy when one shoved a cameraman’s camera with his shield and the other hit a reporter with his baton.

“We determined that an objectively reasonable officer at the scene would not have concluded that the reporter posed a threat in the circumstances,” the investigation said. It added that the findings had been forwarded to the director of the National Park Service for “any action deemed appropriate”.

The then Australian Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, called for an investigation into how police officers treated the two journalists on assignment for Channel 7, one of the country’s largest networks. Other journalists also faced attacks when they covered the demonstrations against racial injustice in the United States.

The journalists, who were not named in the investigation, were identified in a New York Times article at the time as Tim Myers, the cameraman, and Amelia Brace, the reporter.

Mr. Myers and Ms. Brace covered the demonstration as President Donald J. Trump threatened a crackdown on protests in a Rose Garden speech that began at 6:43 p.m. disperse the crowd.

An officer hit Mr. Myers with a riot shield, causing his camera to fall to the ground. When Mr. Myers and Mrs. Brace started running, another officer appeared to wave a baton at Mrs. Brace’s back.

Mr Myers filmed the officer crashing into him, while the footage was broadcast live on Australian television. When Ms. Brace was back on camera, she said, “You heard us screaming out there that we were media, but they don’t care.”

On Wednesday, the inspector general’s report said U.S. Park Police guidelines call for officers to “use only the minimum level of reasonable force necessary to control a situation,” which includes a requirement that an officer “the amount of violence will de-escalate to the lowest level necessary to maintain control over a subject.
