Marie Osmond said she was a grandmother to her eight grandchildren.

The 64-year-old singer made his appearance on Wednesday The Drew Barrymore Show and said that having grandchildren is even better than having children.

“I thought I would never love anything as much as I love my children,” she told Barrymore, 49, on her show about her surprise at how much she enjoys being a grandmother.

“Oh my god, grandkids are like having kids [but] on steroids,” she said. “I mean, it’s just so cool. I can’t even tell you.’

The Paper Roses hitmaker – who told DailyMail.com exclusively earlier this year that she tries to stay in shape for her family – said that as a mother she has a lot more responsibility, but as a grandmother she can do “anything I want”.

“And as a parent you have to guide them,” she explained. “You’re not their friend; you are their parents.

“If you’re the grandma, who cares? “I can do anything I want,” she said.

In the talk show she talked about remarriage to her first husband Stephen Craig Sr. and said they prioritize spending time with their grandchildren.

Osmond and her first husband share son Stephen Jr., 40.

She shares seven children with her ex-husband Brian Blosil. She and her second husband share four daughters: Jessica, 36, Rachael, 34, Brianna, 25, and Abigail, 20.

They also share sons Brandon, 27, Matthew, 24, and Michael, who committed suicide at the age of 19.

Osmond is the grandmother of a total of eight grandchildren.

Earlier this year, in February, she exclusively told DailyMail.com that she keeps fit to keep up with them.

As a sequel to Princess Kate MiddletonFollowing the photo editing debacle, another portrait of the royal family has been called into question.

Getty Images released a statement on Monday, March 18, revealing that a photo shared via the official Prince and Princess of Wales Instagram account in April 2023 had been doctored. “Getty Images has reviewed the image in question and posted an editor’s note stating that the image has been digitally enhanced at the source,” an agency spokesperson said. The Telegraph.

The photo in question was on display Queen Elizabeth II surrounded by younger generations of the royal family. “Today would have been Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s 97th birthday,” read the caption of the April 2023 Instagram post. “This photo – which shows her with some of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren – was taken in Balmoral last summer .”

Kate, 42, was credited as photographer. Her three children with Prince William – Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5 – were among those seen in the photo with the late queen. (Prince Harry And Meghan Markle‘s two children were notably absent from the portrait.)

Getty’s statement added to the skepticism surrounding the royal family as Kate continues to recover from her abdominal surgery. Kensington Palace announced in January that Kate would remain out of the public eye until after Easter while she recovers from her “planned” surgery. Few details were given about the nature of her procedure.

Prior to her hospitalization, Kate was last seen in December 2023. Following the palace’s call for privacy, theories about Kate’s condition and her whereabouts began flooding social media. Reps for both Kate and William, 41, tried to calm the speculation.

In a separate statement, William’s rep added that his “focus is on work and not social media.”

Although Kate has not directly addressed her condition, she has been seen several times in blurry photos. She was first seen post-operatively sitting in the passenger seat of a car with her mother, Carole Middleton, on March 4 and was photographed a week later as William left Windsor Castle. Grainy footage of the couple walking through a local farmers market was published by TMZ on Monday, with onlookers claiming the princess looked ‘happy’ and ‘relaxed’.

A family photo uploaded earlier this month in honor of Mother’s Day added further drama when several international news agencies received notices to pull the image from publication. Kate later released a statement addressing allegations that the photo had been doctored.

“Like many amateur photographers, I occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to apologize for any confusion the family photo we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone who celebrated had a very happy Mother’s Day,” she wrote on March 11 via X.

A photo of the late Queen Elizabeth II with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was also manipulated, a picture agency has revealed.

The portrait taken at Balmoral in August 2022 shows the late monarch posing with eight of her 12 grandchildren and was taken just weeks before her death by Kate Middleton.

It was released by Buckingham Palace on April 21 last year to mark what would have been her 97th birthday.

Global picture agency Getty Images now says the heartwarming image was ‘digitally enhanced at source’ having undertaken a review following the recent fallout from the Princess of Wales editing a Mother’s Day photo of herself with her three children.

Several discrepancies, which include the line of the late Queen’s tartan skirt not matching, have been picked up by eagle-eyed members of the public.

The green Chesterfield sofa appears to have been spliced together, while there are black patches visible behind Princes George and Louis, suggesting the area has been edited, reported The Telegraph.

In the snap the late monarch appeared in her element with Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor, James, Earl of Wessex, Lena Tindall, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Isla Phillips, Prince Louis, Mia Tindall, Lucas Tindall and Savannah Phillips.

All the children are smiling sweetly as they surround the Queen, who was sitting between them on a sofa and wearing tartan at her beloved Aberdeenshire home.

A spokesman for Getty Images said: ‘Getty Images has reviewed the image in question and placed an editor’s note on it, stating that the image has been digitally enhanced at source.’

Suspicions were first raised about the portrait last year by tech CEO Christopher Bouzy who said he believed it had been photoshopped.

It will be further embarrassment for Kate, who was said to be ‘very distressed by the fallout’ of her Mother’s Day photo, according to the Mail’s royal editor Rebecca English.

Earlier this month the picture was released by Kensington Palace in what was seen as a bid to quash vicious conspiracy theories that had been swirling on social media about the Princess’ health after not being publicly seen since before her planned abdominal surgery in January.

Several of the world’s top news agencies took the extraordinary step to issue a ‘kill’ notice of the keen amateur photographer’s photo over claims it had been ‘manipulated’.

It comes after an ‘incredibly happy’ Kate was pictured by a member of the public on Saturday visiting the Windsor Farm Shop with her husband William, 41, a short drive from their Berkshire home.

Looking healthy, happy and relaxed, the princess carries her own shopping bag and laughingly chats with her husband as the pair exit the shop and return to their car, according to the image published by The Sun.

Kate and William were not accompanied by their three children, Prince George, ten, Princess Charlotte, eight, and five-year-old Prince Louis.

The couple have, in recent weeks, been left deeply distressed by wild social media speculation and gossip about Kate’s health and whereabouts.

However body language expert Judi James said tonight that Kate’s behaviour was a masterclass in ‘quashing all the toxic rumours’.

She told MailOnline: ‘It is completely stunning to see the most sought-after woman in the world and the subject of speculation and rumours on social media suddenly appearing like this looking not just healthy, full of energy and incredibly happy but also making no apparent attempt to hide while out in public.

‘Her head is up and her long hair is billowing while she wears a cheek-rounded smile that seems to signal she is completely upbeat and cheerful.

‘This is quite extraordinary body language behaviour for a leading royal out “incognito” in public and it suggests a point is, quite naturally, being made in terms of reassuring fans and quashing all the toxic rumours.’

Sources close to the Wales’ have told the Mail they have found the speculation hugely hurtful and hard to deal with, but were determined to focus on what was important to them – their family and the princess’ recovery.

It is anticipated that the new image, showing the couple going about their normal lives, will go some way to calming many of the wilder rumours that have gripped people across the globe.

The snap was taken at 12.43pm on Saturday by a member of the public who was also at the farm shop, just a mile’s drive from the Wales’ Adelaide Cottage home, on their Apple iPhone 12 Pro phone.

The person concerned said they were visiting the shop to ‘kill time’ while on the way to meet someone to buy an item from Facebook when they recognised William and Kate and were struck by how ‘happy’ they looked.

Last April Mr Bouzy described the photograph of the late Queen as ‘beautiful’ on X.

Calling on people to ‘stop criticising’ snap, he added: ‘Yes, they Photoshopped it, and so what? It isn’t easy to get the perfect photo with 10 children. It appears they took multiple shots and then edited the photo to make it perfect. I would’ve done the same.’

In a later tweet about the snap, which was shared on the official social media accounts of The Prince and Princess of Wales, he wrote: ‘You can literally see where two sides of the sofa were spliced together, and there are pixels on the face that were not properly edited.

‘As I stated in my original tweet, I don’t see anything wrong with it. But to claim it’s not Photoshopped is false. It’s been edited.’

Sarah Ferguson has spoken of how sharing her children's books with her grandchildren has been a 'special gift' – as she battles cancer alongside King Charles.

The Duchess of York, 64, was diagnosed with malignant melanoma in January after undergoing breast cancer surgery last year.

Last night, Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles has been diagnosed with cancer and will step back from his public duties while he undergoes treatment.

Earlier this week, Sarah Ferguson opened up about her relationship with her three grandchildren when she posted to her Instagram to commemorate Children's Author's Week.

Prince Andrew's ex-wife has written 35 books over the past thirty years, including fifteen children's books.

Pictured: Princess Beatrice, Sarah Ferguson and Princess Eugenie seen taking part in King Charles' The Big Help Out last year

The Duchess wrote: 'I feel very fortunate that as a mother and now as a grandmother I can call myself a children's book author!

'Creating magic with my girls when they were young has brought many of the characters from my children's books to life.

“To now be able to share that with my grandchildren and with children around the world has been an incredibly special gift.

“Every time I pick up one of my children's books, I feel all that precious time together.”

The Duchess became a grandmother for the third time in May 2023 when her youngest daughter Princess Eugenie – who had her son in 2021 – announced the arrival of baby Ernest.

Princess Beatrice shares daughter Sienna with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and is also stepmother to his son Wolfie.

Sarah's post received more than 9,200 likes and fans praised her writing.

“What a wonderful gift for the next generation,” said one. Another said: 'I love your books!'

Fergie's skin cancer diagnosis has made her 'think about her life and mortality', a source recently claimed.

She praised her dermatologist for discovering malignant melanoma – an aggressive form of skin cancer – just months after undergoing surgery for breast cancer.

The mother of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie admitted the second diagnosis was a 'shock', but revealed she was now in 'good spirits' and grateful for the many messages of love and support.

Via an Instagram post, she revealed that she was now taking some time for herself, having been diagnosed after several moles were removed during reconstructive surgery following her mastectomy in June.

One of them was diagnosed with cancer and is now undergoing further medical checks to ensure the cancer is detected at an early stage.

She added that her experience underlined the importance of checking new moles and urged anyone who read her post to “be diligent.”

Melanoma: the most dangerous form of skin cancer

Melanoma is the most dangerous form of skin cancer. It happens after the DNA in skin cells is damaged (usually due to harmful UV rays) and then left unrepaired, causing mutations that can form malignant tumors.

Causes

  • Sun exposure: UV and UVB rays from the sun and tanning beds are harmful to the skin
  • Birthmarks: The more moles you have, the greater the risk of developing melanoma
  • Skin type: Fairer skin has a higher risk of developing melanoma
  • Hair color: Red heads are more at risk than others
  • Personal history: If you have ever had melanoma, you are more likely to get it again
  • Family history: If previous relatives have been diagnosed, it increases your risk

Therapy

This can be done by removing the entire part of the tumor or by having the surgeon remove the skin layer by layer. When a surgeon removes it layer by layer, it helps him figure out exactly where the cancer ends so he doesn't have to remove more skin than necessary.

If discoloration or a dent is left during the operation, the patient may decide to use a skin graft.

  • Immunotherapy, radiation or chemotherapy:

This is necessary if the cancer reaches stage III or IV. This means that the cancer cells have spread to the lymph nodes or other organs in the body.

Prevention

  • Use sunscreen and don't burn
  • Avoid tanning outside and in beds
  • Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before going outside
  • Keep newborns out of the sun
  • Examine your skin every month
  • See your doctor every year for a skin exam

The Duchess wrote: 'I have been taking some time for myself as I have been diagnosed with malignant melanoma, a form of skin cancer. My second cancer diagnosis within a year after I was diagnosed with breast cancer last summer and had a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. surgery.

'Thanks to the great vigilance of my dermatologist, the melanoma was discovered when it occurred.

'Of course a new cancer diagnosis was a shock, but I am upbeat and grateful for the many messages of love and support.

'I believe my experience underlines the importance of monitoring the size, shape, color and texture and the appearance of new moles that could be a sign of melanoma, and urge anyone reading this to be diligent.

'I am incredibly grateful to the medical teams who have supported me throughout both of these cancer experiences, and to the MAYRLIFE clinic for the gentle care they have taken of me over the past few weeks, allowing me time for recovery. I am now resting at home with family and feel blessed to have their love and support.”

Privately, the Duchess is coming to grips with the news, with a source close to her telling MailOnline that it 'feels like the worst icing on the cake' after the trials of the past year.

Britain's boomer generation is prioritizing travel rather than spending money on their grandchildren.

The survey, conducted by YouGov on behalf of CooperativeResearch shows that almost a third of the country's over-55s choose travel as the most valued way to spend their money.

It showed that more than a tenth (13 percent) choose to spend money on their children, and only a fifth (18 percent) spend money on their grandchildren.

The older generation prioritizes living life to the fullest, and age doesn't hold them back. The survey reveals a list of rather action-packed and far-flung travel experiences that the country's over-55s want to enjoy.

New research shows over-55s are prioritizing travel over spending on their grandchildren – and it reveals their top 10 'bucket list' experiences

Peru's high-altitude Machu Picchu emerged as the number one destination for over-55s in a ranking of 10.

Visiting Antarctica (second) and seeing the Northern Lights (third) rounded out the top three travel experiences on their bucket list.

In fourth place was a cruise, while a trip to Alaska was in fifth place and a safari in sixth place.

As well as visiting landmarks such as the Galapagos Islands (seventh) or seeing the Canadian Rocky Mountains (ninth), they have a number of extraterrestrial ambitions, with a trip to space even making it into the top ten (eighth).

In tenth place was a visit to the Norwegian fjords.

But when it comes to planning an unexpected vacation, many adopt a relaxed attitude.

Nearly a quarter (24 percent) of British over-55s say they never take out travel insurance when they go on holiday, while almost a fifth (19 percent) of them mention their age (11 percent) or have pre-existing medical conditions ( 12 percent) as the reasons why they think they cannot get coverage.

Graham Ward-Lush, head of travel at Co-op Insurance, said: 'As our research shows, age doesn't have to be a factor stopping people from achieving those all-important travel goals, whether that's visiting an exotic destination. or a world famous landmark.

'While everyone should indeed be able to enjoy life to the full, it is important that people plan ahead and protect themselves with travel insurance should the unthinkable happen.

'Just like with travel, age shouldn't be a factor stopping people from protecting themselves with travel insurance, meaning they can confidently continue to tick off those bucket list experiences if they encounter an unexpected medical problem abroad. '

When the Duke of York was captured on video at Sandringham on Christmas Day and the crowd was asked why they all had their phones out to record the royal family, it quickly became clear who the fans were really interested in.

“Sara, Sarah!” came the calls from well-wishers, drowning out Prince Andrew as he tried to explain what it was like to be confronted with a wall of telephones.

Nobody cared. The person they really wanted to talk to, the person they admired most in this strangely disconnected couple, was the Duchess of York, the woman who hadn't walked alongside the royals to a Christmas Day church service in more than thirty years.

It's been a long time coming, but Fergie, the larger-than-life, chaotic but eternally optimistic and well-meaning Duchess, has come in from the cold, but in the cruelest turn of events, no one has disturbed her newfound happiness and tranquility. , only two cancer diagnoses.

We used to say 'poor Fergie' with derision and more than a little disdain. Now we say it with genuine affection and concern, because the 64-year-old grandmother of three has had breathtaking bad luck. Last year she revealed that she was being treated for breast cancer, a process that involved a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery, and now she has discovered that she has skin cancer of the worst kind: malignant melanoma. Tests are done to determine if the cancer has spread.

It's all the more poignant because the royal family, once so maligned for its poor decisions, greedy behavior and downright stupidity, has recently undergone a midlife awakening. She is now a hard-working career woman, a charity dynamo, a devoted mother, a loyal ex-wife and a careful and enthusiastic cheerleader for the new royal family. If, ultimately, a measure of maturity is learning to think less of yourself and more of others, and to be guided by kindness above all, then Sarah Ferguson has finally grown up.

Poor Fergie. To finally get her life back on track after decades of shame and contempt and then find herself contemplating not seeing her grandchildren grow up, as she admitted on her podcast, is desperately sad.

We all remember the toe sucking, the attempts to sell access to Prince Andrew and the bad financial decisions, but underneath it all was probably just a girl with abandonment issues. Remember, Sarah was only 14 when her mother Susan Barrantes left home to live with a polo player in Argentina.

But in the modern form of therapy, Fergie has done the work. Those who know her say she is still cheerful and demonstrative, but there is a newfound reserve.

Just like Camilla, just like Kate, just like Zara Tindall, she occupies that unique position where she has one foot inside the royal family and the experience of having the other outside. That's why she was so honest about her breast cancer – and urged others to check their breasts – and why she's now sharing intimate details of her latest diagnosis.

She has been brave and generous in discussing her health problems, but with her father diagnosed with skin cancer three months before his death from a heart attack in 2003, Sarah must be very concerned about where this will lead.

Here in Australia, where two in three people will be diagnosed with skin cancer in their lifetime, we applaud the Royal Family's extraordinary transparency in discussing their health issues. We do not see these challenges as weakness, but as the reality of being human. Sharing your personal medical misfortunes – knowing that speculation will increase just as you are trying to manage your own personal fears – goes beyond the call of duty and service. It is an act of grace.

King Charles can give a breathtaking turn as characters from Harry Potter when he performs for his grandchildren, Queen Camilla has revealed.

The monarch, who shared the 50p coin with wizard Albus Dumbledore last year, can pull off a 'brilliant' imitation of the characters from his wife's beloved children's series.

The Queen revealed her husband's talent for mimicry last week on her new podcast, The Queen's Reading Room, making her the second royal to switch to online programming after Meghan Markle's now-canceled Archetypes show.

In the opening episode of the new podcast, in which she largely played second fiddle to crime writer Sir Ian Rankin, Her Majesty revealed that she enjoys reading JK Rowling's books to her five grandchildren.

After being silent for most of the show, Camilla said, “I can't imitate voices for love or money. I'm totally hopeless at it… but my husband is doing brilliantly. He can do all the voices.”

Camilla has been open in the past about how good Charles is with all ten of his grandchildren, including five of her children Tom and Laura: Lola and her brother Freddy, plus Laura's Eliza, Gus and Louis.

In an interview for Prince, Son & Heir – Charles at 70 in 2018, Camilla said: 'He gets down on his knees and crawls around with them for hours, you know, he makes funny noises and laughs and my grandchildren love at him, absolutely adore him.

'He reads Harry Potter and can do all the different voices and I think children really appreciate that.'

A year earlier, she claimed her husband's performances had left the grandchildren “enchanted.”

Speaking about the books she likes to read to her grandchildren on the new podcast, Camilla said: 'I think the one I most enjoyed reading was Harry Potter… all the stories.

“I can't impersonate voices for love or money. I'm completely hopeless at it. I was a very bad actor at school and I never mastered the art of mimicry.

'But my husband does a brilliant job, he can do all the voices.'

The decision to largely omit the conversation with Scottish crime writer Sir Ian from the Queen's new podcast is believed to have been a conscious one.

A source told the Times there was a conscious decision not to convert the podcast, which follows the success of her Queen's Reading Room book club set up during the pandemic, into 'the Camilla show'.

Future guests in the eight-episode series include Dame Joanna Lumley, author Elif Shafak and comedian and writer David Baddiel, with the Queen expected to make a fleeting appearance in each episode.

The newspaper had already been downloaded in more than 120 countries and 60 percent of the audience came from abroad, the newspaper reports.

The comments gave listeners an insight into the seemingly idyllic family life Charles and Camilla have, and the importance Her Majesty places on family.

Three of her grandsons played a role in Charles' coronation, while the Queen was also able to spend time with her own family away from the royals' traditional Sandringham gathering at Christmas.

It comes after a BBC documentary gave people a behind-the-scenes look at the royal family during Charles III's coronation year.

In the film, the Queen's sister said the couple is 'yin and yang' but makes an extremely formidable team.

Annabel Elliot described her sister as the King's 'rock', while Camilla's close friend Lady Lansdowne said the fact the couple had to 'fight' to be together has only strengthened their unshakable 'bond'.

And speaking publicly for the first time about the long relationship between the king and queen, Princess Anne – not known for her emotional exuberance – gave her sister-in-law the royal seal of approval.

'I've known her for a long time. “Her understanding of the role and how much difference it makes to the King has been absolutely excellent,” she said.

“This role is not something she would come naturally to, but she does it very well. She provides that change of speed and tone, which is just as important.'

Queen Margrethe of Denmark tonight announced her shock abdication after 52 years on the throne.

The surprise announcement, made live on television during the Queen’s traditional New Year’s Eve speech, comes 15 months after the 83-year-old stripped four of her grandchildren of their royal titles.

In September 2022, the monarch removed the titles of prince and princess, as well as the titles of ‘His/Her Highness’ from Nikolai, 24, Felix, 21, Henrik, 14, and Athena, 11, who are the children of her second son, Prince Joachim.

She said she hoped it would help them “shape their own lives without being limited by the special considerations and obligations” that a formal link with the Danish royal family entails.

Like her abdication, the stripping of her own grandchildren’s titles came as a major shock and led to a royal row.

The Danish queen (pictured with her sons Crown Prince Frederik and Prince Joachim and their wives) has said the decision was intended to allow her grandchildren to live a normal life without royal duties.

In September, the Danish monarch announced that her grandchildren Nikolai, 23, Felix, 20, Henrik, 13, and Athena, 10, will no longer hold the titles of

Last year, in the days that followed, Prince Joachim publicly spoke out against his mother’s decision – claiming that his children born from Joachim’s first marriage to Alexandra, Countess of Frederiksborg – and that Henrik and Athena had been ‘harmed’ in the process.

From a title: the four grandchildren who are no longer TRHs

Nikolai, 24, from Denmark: The Copenhagen Business School student and model regularly tops the list of the world’s most coveted bachelor’s degrees. He lives in Denmark but has flown around the world to walk for designers in Paris and London. Nikolai has also appeared on the cover of Vogue Scandinavia.

Felix, 21, from Denmark: Following in his brother’s footsteps, Prince Felix has also had success as a model, starring in an advertising campaign for Georg Jensen. He had a short stint at the Royal Danish Military Academy, but dropped out after two months because it ‘wasn’t for him’.

Henrik, 13, and Athena, 11, from Denmark: The youngest of Prince Joachim’s four children, Henrik and Athena, are the product of his second marriage to Princess Marie. They live with their parents in Paris.

Months later, the sixth in line to the throne admitted there was a ‘lack of communication’ within the royal family in the run-up to the shock announcement.

Joachim told local news channel BT: ‘There is a lot to work on. Communication was what was missing. Now we have met and we are on the right track.’

Shortly after his children were stripped of his titles, Joachim claimed he was given only five days’ notice before the news was made public.

Following the Queen’s announcement, Joachim spoke to Danish publication Ekstra Bladet outside the Danish embassy in Paris, where he lives with his French-born wife Princess Marie and his two youngest children, and said his four children were “hurt” by the their grandmother’s decision. .

‘I was given five days’ notice to tell them. In May I was presented with a plan that broadly stated that this would happen when the children each turned 25. Now I only had five days to tell them. Athena will turn eleven years old in January,” he clarified at the time.

Meanwhile, his ex-wife Alexandra said her sons, Nikolai and Felix, felt they had been “left out” of the institution and the decision had come as a bolt from the blue.

The Royal House released a further statement, saying: ‘As the Queen stated yesterday, the decision has been a long time coming.

‘We understand that there are many emotions at stake at the moment, but we hope that the Queen’s wish to make the Royal House future-proof will be respected.’

In an interview with local Danish media last February, Queen Margrethe had revealed that she thought it was better for her to take action rather than leave the burden to Crown Prince Frederik as the future king.

“It was important to me that it would never be Frederik’s fate to make such a decision,” she said at the time.

‘It’s better that I did. Because then it is the old lady who made the decision. I don’t feel like going into it to be honest.

‘I could mention a few things, but you don’t have to say everything. But it’s still a bit too private to talk about.’

They are now Counts and Countess and are called Their Excellencies – and in January the Danish Royal Family updated their website to reflect the new status.

In last year’s New Year’s speech, Margrethe admitted: ‘It hurts me that the relationship with Prince Joachim and (his wife) Princess Marie has gotten into trouble.

‘Difficulties and disagreements can arise in any family, including mine. The whole country has witnessed this.”

She added that she was “confident that the family can enter the new year together with confidence, understanding and new courage.”

Queen Margrethe was proclaimed queen on January 15, 1972, a day after her father, King Frederik IX, died after a short illness.

Queen Margrethe II stated in her broadcast today: 'I have decided that this is the right time. On January 14, 2024, 52 years after I succeeded my beloved father, I will step down as Queen of Denmark.”

Queen Margrethe is Europe’s longest-serving monarch after the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022.

In February she underwent successful back surgery.

In a bombshell announcement this evening, she said: “The operation naturally gave rise to reflection on the future – whether it was time to leave responsibility to the next generation,” she said in her speech.

“I’ve decided this is the right time. On January 14, 2024, 52 years after I succeeded my beloved father, I will step down as Queen of Denmark.

“I leave the throne to my son, Crown Prince Frederik.”

The Danish royal family has been rocked by rumors in recent weeks – after photos emerged of Crown Prince Frederik enjoying a night out with a Mexican socialite in Madrid in October.

Despite swirling rumors about the alleged ‘affair’, Crown Prince Frederik, 55, and his Australian-born wife, Crown Princess Mary, 51, appeared in love as they entered Aarhus Cathedral on Sunday, December 24.

Queen Camilla has revealed she is absolutely ‘hopeless’ at imitating Harry Potter characters when reading to her grandchildren.

The 76-year-old has delved into her literary favorites in a new podcast series called The Queen’s Reading Roomwhich will be published weekly from January 8.

Discussing her love of stories about the young wizard, she revealed that her husband, King Charles, is a much better impressionist who can “do all the voices.”

When asked which books the Queen preferred to read to her grandchildren, she said: ‘I think the one I most enjoyed reading was Harry Potter… all the stories.

“I can’t impersonate voices for love or money. I’m completely hopeless at it. I was a very bad actor at school and I never mastered the art of mimicry.

The Queen, who has five grandchildren, said she will tell listeners on her new podcast what her all-time favorite books are in the eight-part series.

It comes after a BBC documentary gave people a behind-the-scenes look at the royal family during Charles III’s coronation year.

In the film, the Queen’s sister told the couple are ‘yin and yang’, but make an extremely formidable team.

Each episode of Camilla’s new podcast features a segment of herself before interviewing another guest.

Guests include Sir Ian Rankin, Dame Joanna Lumley and David Baddiel.

In the first episode, crime writer Peter James discusses how he manages to come up with so many ideas.

A new documentary shows King Charles hugging his children after previously being accused of ‘never giving hugs’ in Prince Harry’s memoirs.

The BBC production about the coronation will be broadcast and screened on Boxing Day the Wales family attending a rehearsal at Westminster Abbey.

The King can be seen greeting Prince Louis and Charlotte with double kisses on the cheek as the Princess bows to him.

The Prince of Wales then humorously practices the kiss of tribute with his father. Many claim this is the most affectionate display ever among the three generations of Kings.

Richard Jackson, Bishop of Hereford, told the Telegraph: ‘What struck me most was how extremely affectionate they are.

His son accused the king of not giving ‘hugs, no kisses, no pats’ in his memoir Spare

“It’s clearly a very close family, going back generations, and in a way you felt like you were part of a family celebration, but also a royal occasion and a national occasion.”

But, according to the Duke of Sussex, he said in his memoirs: ‘The older generation maintained an almost zero-tolerance ban on any physical contact.’

“No hugs, no kisses, no pats,” he wrote in Spare. “Occasionally, maybe a light touch on the cheeks…on special occasions.”

He added: ‘No matter how much you love someone, you could never bridge the gap between, say, monarch and child. Or heir and spare.”

In one paragraph, Harry, affectionately called “Harold” by his family, describes himself as if he was born to be the “spare kidney” for his older brother.

Harry also accuses his older brother of being the aggressor during ‘Megxit’, claiming their relationship had become so strained and damaged that William would only ‘frown’ at him.

He describes some particularly awkward encounters between himself, Meghan, William and Kate, and says his brother and sister-in-law seemed uncomfortable being hugged by his future wife.

He also appears to accuse the Princess of Wales of overreacting by demanding an apology from Meghan after she fell out with Kate over wedding plans.

However, in what will surely be poignant passages for the king, Harry describes how, when he returned to Britain to attend Prince Philip’s funeral in 2021, a clearly distressed Charles lamented to his embattled sons that he was spending his “last years would not make it a misery’. .

Elsewhere in the documentary there is a moving moment Prince William jokes about it how clumsy the catch is during the coronation ceremony and groans: ‘On the day it doesn’t go in, right?’

“No,” says the king, giggling; ‘[But] you don’t have sausage fingers like mine!’

The funny interaction is one of the highlights of a new documentary about Charles’ first year as monarch, which will be shown on BBC One on Boxing Day.

The documentary also shows footage of the couple walking rescue dog Beth (a Jack Russell) from Queen’s Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in Birkhall, their beloved Scottish home.

Camilla is dressed casually in jeans and a jacket, while Charles is in a tweed jacket and tie.

The programme, produced by The Mail’s Robert Hardman, also includes footage from last year’s Christmas broadcast.

Featuring never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage and exclusive interviews with key officials, family and senior royals, it captures the galloping pace of the past twelve months, as well as moments of lightness.

During rehearsals for May’s coronation, during which he swore allegiance to his father, William is shown joking about which of his cheeks to kiss by tickling his father’s face and saying, “Your left cheek is better!”

The King and Queen celebrated Christmas Day at Sandringham with other members of the Royal Family and attended a church service at St. Mary Magdalene Church.

Charles was seen waving to the crowds who had gathered outside the Norfolk Church to wish him and his family a Happy Christmas.

He was closely followed by the Prince and Princess of Wales, who were accompanied by their children Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five.

The Princess of Wales wore an elegant blue coat and matching hat as she smiled broadly as she walked to the church, holding her daughter Princess Charlotte’s hand.

Prince William also held his son’s hand as Prince George, dressed in a navy blue suit, walked alongside his sister.

For the second year running, the disgraced Duke of York walked the family from Sandringham to church.

His ex-wife Sarah, Duchess of York, walked behind him and smiled at the press during her first public appearance at Sandringham in years.

Andrew’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, were with their husbands, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and Jack Brooksbank, respectively.

Notably absent from the Royal Christmas was the Duke of Duchess of Sussex, who spent the holiday with their children in LA.

In his Christmas message broadcast at 3pm on Monday, the king paid tribute to Britons’ commitment to ‘service’.

It was shot in the Center Room at Buckingham Palace, which opens onto the royal residence’s iconic balcony, and also featured a live Christmas tree in the background that will be replanted, complete with natural and sustainable decorations.

Charles, who has previously mentioned the importance of rewearing clothes, donned the same blue single-breasted suit he wore to his speech last year.

His second annual speech gave a nod to the environment, a departure from the typically apolitical messages of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
