‘Pikachu has previous’

Commentator Wayne Mardle can find “no positive reason” for Ricardo Pietreczko’s angry antics against Luke Littler.

Pietreczko took on Littler after the 17-year-old beat him in the semi-final last night on his way to victory at the Belgian Darts Open.

Many fans were as baffled as they were outraged by the scenes.

And one tagged with 50-year-old former World Cup finalist Mardle.

The viewer posted on

Sky Sports pundit Mardle replied: “I don’t have a positive answer so I’ll keep quiet.”

Littler himself responded to the incident by posting on a Facebook group: “No idea what I did wrong, no idea what he said. He said something and then don’t do it again.’

Pietreczko wrote on his Instagram story: “I really appreciate that he can play such a game at such an age. But I hope his arrogance punishes him.”

Humphries reveals modest goal

Luke Humphries has played down his Premier League ambitions ahead of Thursday’s Night Seven.

The world champion will take on Michael Smith, while Michael van Gerwen will take on Luke Littler at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham.

Humphries said: “My aim this season is to be in the top four, whether that is first or fourth.

“There are eight fantastic players participating in this tournament, but I really want to make Finals Night; that would be a huge achievement for me.

“If it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen. It’s my first year in the Premier League and it’s all about experience and learning, but I’m loving every minute of it.

“It is a privilege to be involved in the Premier League. I don’t feel like a rookie. I feel like I’ve been doing this for five years.”

Hamilton and Rowlands join the elite

Andy Hamilton and Richard-Eirig Rowlands prepare to take part in the Champion of Champions after qualifying excitement.

Reaching the televised event of the World Seniors Darts Tour is an impressive step forward for both men.

Rowlands even beat Hamilton on his way to winning the first qualifying tournament, with the Welshman beating Stephan Wood 6-1 in the final.

Hamilton didn’t have to wait much longer to join him – with success in the second qualifying tournament.

‘The Hammer’ defeated both Colin McGarry and Andy Boulton 5-3 before beating compatriot Darren Johnson 6-3 in the final.

Robert Thornton, Phil Taylor, Leonard Gates, Richie Howson, Martin Adams and John Henderson make up the rest of the field in the Champion of Champions.

It takes place from March 23 to 24 in Blackpool.

In the first round, all PDC players meet a North American rival.

The four guaranteed competitors from across the pond are Matt Campbell, Jules van Dongen, Danny Lauby and Stowe Buntz.

They will be joined by three qualifiers and the winner of the CDC Cross Border Championship.

Adam Smith Neale hung on darts

Adam Smith-Neale has been suspended after footage emerged of him appearing to PUNCH his opponent.

This means that his PDC Tour Card has been revoked, which is covered by the Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) for all darts activities.

Players must conduct themselves in an appropriate manner when they play, regardless of the level that Smith-Neale has betrayed.

In the videoSmith-Neale’s opponent won and then extended his arm for a handshake, but instead felt the full force of Smith-Neale’s fist.

The shocked player appeared unharmed as he walked back to the board to retrieve his darts and gestured to him.

Smith-Neale then tried to get back at his rival, but a man intervened and pushed him against the wall.

Artforum named Tina Rivers Ryan as its next top editor on Thursday, selecting the curator to lead the prestigious magazine after a tumultuous year.

“For decades, Artforum’s editors have ensured that this landmark magazine remains a trusted and indispensable source for conversations about contemporary art and its role in the broader culture,” said Ryan, who specialized in digital art as a curator at Buffalo AKG Art Museum, said in a statement.

Five months ago, the magazine fired David Velasco, editor-in-chief, after he signed and published a letter calling for Palestinian liberation shortly after the war between Israel and Hamas began. Some staff members were angry about his dismissal; Old editors resigned in protest and artists declared a boycott. Some writers withdrew their essays and some advertisers withdrew their spots in the publication, resulting in a noticeably smaller issue after events unfolded.

Penske Media Corporation, which owns the publication, has been trying to rebuild it in recent months.

Ryan, who has contributed to Artforum over the years, received attention for a popular essay criticizing the NFT boom. She later softened her stance and helped the Buffalo museum raise money for the craze by creating a online exhibition and fundraising.

“We couldn’t be more excited about this next chapter of Artforum, with Tina leading the editorial team,” the magazine’s publishers, Danielle McConnell and Kate Koza, said in a statement. “Tina is a brilliant writer and uniquely positioned to uphold the magazine’s reputation for publishing long-form criticism of the highest quality, while also contributing to a dynamic vision of audience expansion through continued digital growth and live events.”

‘Always by my man,’ the mom-of-two — who has been in a relationship with Gosling since they met on the set of their 2012 movie The Place Beyond the Pines — captioned the clip.

Ryan later took the stage for an epic performance of ‘I’m just Ken’ sporting a hot pink bedazzled suit. He was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor, but lost out to Robert Downey Jr. (Oppenheimer.)

Eva also shared a snap of herself to her Instagram Stories, writing in Spanish, ‘Siempre con mi hombre’ which means ‘Always by my man.’

In January, Eva defended Ryan over his Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor, after fan backlash.

Mendes posted a gushing message to her Instagram, describing her pride and the ‘Not My Ken’ jeering he endured in the lead-up to Barbie’s release.

‘So proud of my man,’ Eva posted to Instagram.

‘So much hate when he took on this role. So many people trying to shame him for doing it. Despite all the #Notmyken ridicule and articles written about him, he created this completely original, hilarious, heartbreaking, now iconic character and took it all the way to Oscars. So beyond proud to be this Ken’s Barbie.’

Ryan was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role – but controversially, lead star Margot and director Greta failed to receive individual nods.

Ryan expressed his fury that the Academy had overlooked his female colleagues in a statement, but fell short of giving up his nomination in protest.

He began his statement by expressing gratitude for his nomination, stating: ‘I am extremely honored to be nominated by my colleagues alongside such remarkable artists in a year of so many great films.’

‘And I never thought I’d being saying this, but I’m also incredibly honored and proud that it’s for portraying a plastic doll named Ken.’

The actor then went on to share his disappointment at Margot and Greta not being nominated, before praising them for their work on the film.

‘Against all odds with nothing but a couple of soulless, scantily clad, and thankfully crotchless dolls, they made us laugh, they broke our hearts, they pushed the culture and they made history,’ he added.

Lastly, he congratulated co-star America Ferrera, who received the Best Supporting Actress nod.

‘Having said that, I am so happy for America Ferrera and the other incredible artists who contributed their talents to making this such a groundbreaking film,’ Ryan said.

Eva Mendes kept it low key at the 2024 Oscars, but still found a way to stand up for long-lasting love Ryan Gosling.

Mendes, 50, opted to skip the red carpet at the awards ceremony on Sunday, March 10, but opted to support Gosling, 43, backstage. Before the ceremony, the actress got to work Instagram to share a photo of herself outside Gosling’s dressing room, captioning the message: “Always by my man.”

After Gosling took the stage to sing his Barbie Mendes posted the Oscar-nominated song ‘I’m Just Ken’ a second one behind the scenes Instagram see where she donned the bright pink studded jacket, black cowboy hat and matching sunglasses that the actor wore during his performance.

“You brought Ken all the way to the Oscars, RG,” she wrote alongside the photo from the event. ‘Come home now, we have to put the kids to bed. 💋.”

“I’m Just Ken” was nominated for Best Original Song at the 96th Academy Awards and ultimately lost to another Barbie track, Billie Eilish’s “What was I made for?” which was the film’s only win of the night.

Barbie received a total of eight nominations, including Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Production Design and Best Costume Design. Gosling also received a nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for the role of Ken, a win that went to Robert Downey Jr. for Oppenheimer.

Sunday’s ceremony concludes this year’s awards circuit for Gosling and him Barbie cast mates. Despite the film’s worldwide success — it grossed more than $1 billion at the box office — Mendes’ brother Carlo Mendeztold exclusively We weekly that Gosling’s main focus will always be raising his daughters, Esmeralda, 9, and Amada, 7.

“[They are] always, family first,” Mendez said Us of Gosling and Mendes’ lifestyle while attending the 24th Annual Academy Awards Celebration and Children Uniting Nation viewing dinner in Beverly Hills on Sunday. “What else do you have in life if you don’t have a family?”

Gosling and Mendes, who have been together for more than a decade, have a “great understanding” of each other, Mendez said Us, with the couple’s ‘communication’ attributed to their long-lasting romance.

“I think the key in any relationship is communication and understanding what each person is going through and just expressing that,” he said. “It’s pretty easy when you do that. It is also communication and understanding. They are soulmates.”

A source said this exclusively earlier this month Us that Gosling’s recent Oscars have been a “dream come true,” but he’s “enjoying” the attention that comes with his time in Hollywood. “It’s part of the job for him, but he prefers to let others shine,” the insider said. “He doesn’t have to be the star of the show.”

While you’re talking to GQ in May 2023, Gosling admitted that all his life priorities changed when he met Mendes while co-starring in the 2012 film The place behind the Pines.

Ryan Gosling brought the ‘Kenergy’ as he performed nominated track I’m Just Ken at Sunday’s Oscars.

The Best Supporting Actor nominee, 43, donned a sparkling pink suit as he exuded confidence onstage – accompanied by his Barbie co-stars and Guns N Roses guitarist Slash, 58.

Gosling started off his performance wearing shades and sat in the audience alongside Barbie star Margot Robbie, 33, as she giggled.

He then prowled his way to the stage where he joined a host of tuxedo clad back-up dancers.

Tenderly stroking their faces he was picked up and twirled in the air by the dancers before joining co-stars including Simu Liu onstage.

Gosling also enjoyed a reunion with his La La Land co-star Emma Stone as he serenaded her while walking into the audience.

Fans quickly noticed a similarity between Gosling’s performance and Marilyn Monroe’s iconic Gentleman Prefer Blondes scene in 1953 in which she performed Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend.

Barbie – was nominated for eight awards, but also fell victim to notable snubs from the Academy.

Its star Margot was not nominated for best actress, while Greta Gerwig was not nominated for best director.

Another surprise saw America Ferrera nominated for best supporting actress over her role in Barbie, with pundits saying her character’s impassioned speech on feminism had sealed the deal.

Barbie’s other nominations include best picture, best supporting actor for Gosling – who lost to Oppenheimer’s Robert Downey Jr. and two nods for best song – for I’m Just Ken and Billie Eilish track, What Was I Made For? – winning in the latter category.

Gerwig was nominated for best director in 2018 for her solo directorial debut, Lady Bird.

Only three women have won Oscars for best director – Kathryn Bigelow, Chloe Zhao and Jane Campion.

Jimmy Kimmel roasted Robert Downey Jr’s manhood and past drug use in his bombshell opening monologue at the 2024 Oscars on Sunday – while also appearing to upset actress Emma Stone.

The host, 56, returning for the fourth time, left the A-listers grinning and cringing in equal measure as he took to the stage.

Downey Jr. 58, who is nominated for Best Supporting Actor for Oppenheimer was stony-faced as Kimmel made a crass joke at the start of the ceremony – referring to the reformed coke addict’s past addictions.

He said: ‘And Robert Downey Jr., one of the highest points of his career. But Robert has been’ – as RDJ pointed at his face, leading Kimmel to add: ‘Was that too on the nose or a drug motion you made?

‘But look at him, he’s so handsome, so talented, he’s won every award there is to win. Is that an acceptance speech in your pocket or do you just have a very rectangular penis?’

The joke fell flat as RDJ looked somber while staring at the camera while fans slammed Kimmel for his ‘bottom of the barrel’ jokes about substance abuse.

Later, Kimmel appeared to catch the ire of Emma Stone’s performance in Poor Things, joking about the explicit sex scenes by saying: ‘Those were all the parts of Poor Things that we’re allowed to show on TV.’

The camera then cut to Stone making a less than impressed face, with some speculation she even called him a ‘p***k.’

Oppenheimer won a whopping seven Oscars at Sunday night’s Academy Awards – while rival Barbie only won one.

Meanwhile Emma Stone led Poor Things to an impressive four including her Best Actress win and UK film The Zone Of Interest won two at the gala event held at The Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.

The historical epic directed by Christopher Nolan swept the major categories with wins for Best Actor Cillian Murphy, Best Supporting Actor Robert Downey Jr. and Nolan – with the film also winning Best Picture.

In contrast, Barbie, who memorably won against Oppenheimer in the ‘Barbenheimer’ box office showdown over the summer, walked away with just one award for Best Original Song for What Was I Made For? by Billie Eilish and Finneas McConnell.

Downey Jr. jokingly thanked his ‘terrible childhood’ as he finally won an Oscar for his portrayal of Lewis Strauss, was delighted as he took to the stage –  after host Jimmy Kimmel made a very awkward quip about his drug use.

The veteran actor – who has acted for over five decades –  took home the Academy Award over stiff competition including Sterling K. Brown, American Fiction, Robert De Niro, Killers of the Flower Moon, Ryan Gosling, Barbie, and Mark Ruffalo, Poor Things.

Oppenheimer won seven awards in total – as well as Best Actor for Cillian Murphy, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director for Christopher Nolan, and Best Picture,  it won Original Score for Ludwig Göransson – along with cinematography and achievement in film editing.

Al Pacino announced Oppenheimer as the Best Picture winner without bothering to name all the other nominees.

After the two films were released on the same day – July 21 – Barbenheimer gripped film fans who made an event out of going directly from the screening of one to the other.

Barbie was the highest-grossing movie of the year on both the domestic ($636.2 million) and worldwide ($1.445 billion) box office charts.

Oppenheimer took fifth place ($326.1 million) on the domestic box office charts and third place ($957.8 million) on the worldwide charts.

Meanwhile Emma, 35, powered through a wardrobe malfunction as she beat out an impressive field including favorite Lily Gladstone from Killers Of The Flower Moon in addition to Annette Bening, Nyad, Sandra Huller, Anatomy of a Fall, and Carey Mulligan, Maestro.
