You can't fix stale towels with laundry detergent, use a $7 Walmart purchase that changes the game

HOTELS and spas always seem to have a secret hack to get their towels fresh and soft.

A cleaning fanatic has shared the trick she uses to breathe new life into her musty belongings.

In her videoCaroline (@nette.caroline) showed her followers the extra step she takes when washing her towels.

“If your towels have been smelling a little musty or moldy lately, here's an easy way to fix it,” the TikToker said.

She recommended buying a $7 Tide Clean Boost Fabric Rinse from Walmart.

“I've been using this fabric rinse from Tide a lot lately, all you have to do is add a quarter cup to the fabric softener dispenser,” Caroline explains.

She then put a detergent pod in the machine and loaded her towels.

Caroline advised her audience to run their washing machine on a 'normal cycle'.

“It breaks down residue that has built up during the rinse cycle and this is something that detergent alone cannot do,” she explained.

After removing the towels, she placed them in her dryer on another “normal setting.”

She added that she likes to add dryer balls to the drum to “add extra fluffiness.”

Caroline did a 'smell test' and concluded that the towels smelled 'super fresh and super clean'.

“It definitely has the smell of fresh laundry, but it's not overpowering,” she said.

Caroline was full of praise for the fabric rinse, which she said 'is now a regular part of my laundry routine'.

“I mainly use it for towels and workout clothes and it's just a total game changer, no more bad odors, no more bad leftovers,” she said.

Her followers shared their thoughts on the laundry hack in the comments section.

“Okay but my towel stinks after a day so yeah,” one TikTok user wrote.

“I switched from Downy to vinegar and honestly my towels don't smell anymore,” said another viewer.
