WBJEE 2024 Registration: Check Paper Pattern, Scoring Methodology, Exam Date

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) will conduct an OMR-based Common Entrance Examination (WBJEE-2024) for admission to the academic session 2024-25.

WBJEE 2024 Exam: The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) will conduct OMR-based Common Entrance Examination (WBJEE-2024) for admission to the academic session 2024-25 for undergraduate courses in engineering/technology, pharmacy and architecture from various universities, government schools as well as self-financing technical/technological institutes in the state of West Bengal. Currently, WBJEE registration is expected to begin soon. Candidates must check the paper pattern and scoring methodology. Read below:-

WBJEE Paper Pattern

All questions are multiple choice questions (MCQ), with four options for each question. There are three categories of questions per topic. The number of questions, as well as the maximum points for each question, are given in the following table:

Scoring methodology

Category-1

  1. Only one option is correct.
  2. The correct answer earns 1 (one) point for each question.
  3. The incorrect answer will earn -¼ (25% negative) points for each question.
  4. For any combination of more than one option, even if it contains the correct option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will carry -¼ (25% negative) points.
  5. If you don’t try to ask the question you will get a zero point.

Category-2

  1. Only one option is correct.
  2. The correct answer earns 2 (two) points for each question.
  3. The incorrect answer will earn -1/2 (25% negative) points for each question.
  4. For any combination of more than one option, even if it contains the correct option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will carry -1/2 (25% negative) points.
  5. If you don’t try to ask the question you will get a zero point.

Category-3

  1. One or more option(s) is/are correct.
  2. Only checking all the correct option(s) will earn you 2 (two) points.
  3. For any combination of answers that contain one or more incorrect options, the said answer will be treated as incorrect, resulting in a zero point even if one or more of the chosen option(s) is/are correct.
  4. For partially correct answers, i.e. when not all correct options are marked and no incorrect options are marked, the points awarded are =2 × (number of correct options marked) / total number of actually correct option(s).
  5. If you don’t try to ask the question you will get a zero point

WBJEE Exam Date

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam will be conducted on April 28, 2024. The exam is expected to be conducted for two papers.

Am I eligible to take an exam?

  • Citizenship: The applicant must be a citizen of India or OCI (subject to approval of the competent authority). OCI candidates are only eligible for unreserved seats in the All-India quota.
  • b) Candidates must have passed the 12th Standard Examination (10+2) or its equivalent before 2024 or appear for the 12th Standard Examination (10+2) or its equivalent in 2024.
  • c) Age restriction: i. The lower age limit is 17 (seventeen) years as of 31.12.2024. A candidate must be born on or before 31.12.2007. There is no maximum age for participation in the exam. ii. However, for admission to the Maritime Technology course at university level, the maximum age limit as of 31.12.2024 is 25 years.

Candidates must remember their application number and password. If the candidate forgets the password, he must recover it using the “Forgot Password” option.
