The 15-member SP delegation stopped visiting Sambhal amid violence
NEW DELHI: Police were deployed at the home of the Samajwadi Party leader Mata Prasad Pandey‘s residence on Saturday prevented a delegation of 15 members of the party from visiting the violence-torn Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh.
According to Opposition Leader Mata Prasad Pandey of the state Assembly District Magistrate Sambhal called him and asked not to come.
“The DM Sambhal had also called me and told me that the ban on entry of outsiders has been extended till December 10. So, I will now visit the party office and discuss the issue before deciding on our next course of action,” Pandey said.

“The government may have wanted to prevent me from covering up its mistakes in Sambhal as our visit would have exposed its several faults,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Sambhal district administration also issued a circular banning the entry of outsiders till December 10.
“No outsider, social organization or public representative will be allowed to enter the boundaries of the district without seeking permission from the competent authority till December 10,” Sambhal DM Rajendra Pensiya said in a statement.
SP chief Akhilesh Yadav also targeted the BJP-led UP government over the prohibitory orders in the district and demanded suspension of the entire administration from top to bottom in Sambhal.
“Imposing ban is a failure of the governance, administration and public management of the BJP government. If the government had earlier imposed such a ban on those who dreamed of creating riots and made people raise crazy slogans, the atmosphere of harmony and peace in Sambhal would not have been spoiled,” Yadav said.

“Just like the BJP is changing the entire cabinet at once, similarly the entire board of directors from top to bottom in Sambhal should be suspended and dismissed by accusing them of negligence due to conspiracy. Strict action should be taken against them and a case should also be taken. be filed against them for murdering someone,” he added.
SP state president Shyam Lal Pal had said on Friday that a party delegation will go to Sambhal on Saturday on the instructions of party chief Akhilesh Yadav.
The team will submit the report to the party chief after taking detailed information about the violence that took place there, he said.
A note shared earlier by the SP state president on ‘X’ stated that the delegation consisted of Mata Prasad Pandey, Lal Bihari Yadav, SP state president Shyamlal Pal, MPs Ziaur Rahman Barq, Harendra Malik, Ruchi Veera, Iqra Hasan and Neeraj Maurya .
At least four people were killed and several others, including more than 20 policemen, were injured at the Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh after violent clashes broke out following a court-mandated probe into the Mughal-era Jama Masjid.
The probe was ordered following a petition filed by senior advocate Vishnu Shanker Jain, alleging that the mosque was originally a temple.
