16 Exciting Kids Movies and TV Shows to Watch This Summer
Your kids are home for the summer, and you’ve got vacation plans, too. While heading to the theater to watch Despicable Me 4 or Inside Out 2 sounds fun, your family can still enjoy some age-appropriate screen time at home. That’s where your streaming subscriptions come in: Disney Plus, Paramount Plus, Netflix, and others offer a variety of new releases for all ages. That includes fresh additions like Yo Gabba GabbaLand, Descendants 4, and Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Below are some recommended must-see children’s shows and movies that are streaming between June and August, some of which could become the latest summer hit in your home.

Disney Plus
June 27: Disney Junior’s Ariel is a new animated series for preschoolers airing on Disney Junior and Disney Plus. Follow 8-year-old Ariel and her friends on musical adventures across Atlantica and beyond — and the world.
3 July: Parents and children can look forward to new Blue mini sodas debuting Wednesday, July 3 at midnight PT on Disney Plus. The first two episodes will also air on Disney Junior and Disney Channel on Wednesday, with more airings throughout the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Get ready for Bluey and Bingo to dance.
August 14: Season 2 of Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures launches on Disney Plus and Disney Junior on August 14, but families can watch new animated shorts starting August 2. Young Jedi-in-training Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay, and Nubs learn the Force and help others as they journey across the galaxy.
Descendants 4 introduces the Queen of Hearts’ daughter, Red, from Wonderland. Uma invites Red to attend Auradon Prep, but the queen has dark agendas. The Queen of Hearts wants revenge on Auradon and Cinderella, and uses her daughter to do so. Time travel takes Red and Chloe on a path to discover what angered the queen. Expect lots of music, villainy, and twists.
Watch the film when it premieres on Disney Plus on July 12, followed by an encore on Disney Channel on August 9 at 8pm ET/PT.
Paramount Plus
21st of June: No Time to Spy: A Loud House Movie delves deep into Gran-Gran Myrtle’s past as a secret agent when she crashes wedding festivities. Find out how Lincoln and his family cope with the danger when the film hits Paramount Plus and Nickelodeon June 21.
August 9th: Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a new series that follows teenage martial arts masters Leo, Raphael, Donnie and Mikey as they battle NYC villains and other threats. The series debuts exclusively on Paramount Plus in the U.S. and Canada on August 9, and on August 10 in the U.K. and Australia.
Did you know SpongeBob’s birthday is in July? Season 2 of Kamp Koral brings all-new adventures to the 10-year-old sponge and his gang of friends. But you can also stream a bunch of episodes celebrating his 25th anniversary all summer long. Stream all 13 episodes of Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years on July 10 on Paramount Plus ahead of the festivities airing on Nickelodeon July 15-18.
Netflix
14th of June: Ultraman: Rising is a PG-rated animated story about Kenji Sato, a famous baseball player who also plays the superhero Ultraman. In this film, he learns the meaning of work-life balance after taking in a small kaiju whose mother he fought.
July 5: The Imaginary: Based on A.F. Harrold’s novel, the film was adapted by Studio Ponoc and produced by Yoshiaki Nishimura, a former Studio Ghibli producer. The story centers on a young girl named Amanda and her imaginary friend Rudger, who soon finds herself being hunted. Stream the whimsical film this summer on Netflix.
August 2: Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie takes Sandy and SpongeBob to Texas to save their friends when Bikini Bottom is fished out of the ocean. Meet Sandy’s family when the film opens August 2.
The Dragon Prince, Season 6
Arrival July 26
Ezran, Callum, and Rayla return in an all-new installment of The Dragon Prince, titled Mystery of Aaravos. What answers do the stars hold for Team Zym — and potentially the villain Claudia — and do the Celestial Elves hold the key? Hopefully we’ll learn more about Aaravos’ origin story and how we can stop him for good. Nine episodes of this entertaining series debuted on Netflix on July 26.
Apple TV Plus
July 12: Me, the new live-action, sci-fi TV original from Apple TV Plus, follows a 12-year-old high school student who discovers he has superpowers. In addition to adjusting to his powers, he also adjusts to his blended family. Created by Barry Levy, the 10-episode first season of Me debuts July 12.
Remember the original Yo Gabba Gabba series? This new version features fan favorites Brobee, Foofa, Muno, Toodee, and Plex, as well as a selection of guest stars including Reggie Watts, Gillian Jacobs, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Chelsea Peretti, and Flea.
The show is hosted by Kammy Kam and consists of 10 episodes that can be streamed exclusively on Apple TV Plus.
Peacock
In case you missed it, Kung Fu Panda 4 hit Peacock on June 21st. This time around, Po must battle a chameleon played by Viola Davis while juggling his duties as a Dragon Warrior and a guide to the Valley of Peace. The cast includes Jack Black, Bryan Cranston, Ke Huy Quan, and Ian McShane.
Prime video
Don’t worry, Batman: Caped Crusaders has a Y-7 rating, so it’s kid-friendly and will premiere with an all-star cast. Bruce Wayne/Batman will be voiced by Hamish Linklater, with Selina Kyle/Catwoman played by Christina Ricci and Jamie Chung as Harley Quinn. Gotham City’s worst criminals will have to go up against the Dark Knight when the new animated series debuts on Prime Video. Fans will also get to see Jim Gordon and Harvey Dent in the 10-episode production from JJ Abrams and Warner Bros. Animation.
