CHENNAI: A 43-year-old man and his teenage daughter who tried to leave a suitcase containing a dead woman were nabbed from Minjur railway station on Monday after a commuter called the police when he saw blood oozing from the bag, reports Sindhu Kannan .
Police said the Nellore man had killed his neighbour, identified as Mannam Ramani, 65, for her gold jewelery on Sunday evening and stuffed the body in a suitcase and brought it to Chennai. The father and daughter took the MEMU train to Chennai and alighted at Minjur station. They dragged the trolley bag and left the bag on the platform. Police identified the suspect as Balasubramaniam, a goldsmith, and his daughter, 17. The RPF man forced Balasubramaniam to open the suitcase, and people in the area were shocked to see the body of a woman. The police have sent the body for post-mortem.
Korrukupet Railway Police, which registered a case of murder, said the case would be transferred to Nellore police.
