2024 Olympics: Everything you need to know about the Australians in action in Paris on Saturday – including swimming superstar Ariarne Titmus

With the opening ceremony in Paris behind us, attention turns to the athletes and their hunt for medals, including swimmer Ariarne Titmus and world canoe champion Jessica Fox.
A number of Australians will be in action on Saturday, the official first day of the competition.
Below are our local stars who will be chasing their sporting dreams on the ultimate stage, with all times AEST:

Swimming, from 7:00 PM
Emma McKeon is the favourite to excel in the women’s 100m butterfly heats, partnering Alexandria Perkins, before Ariarne Titmus readies her sights for the women’s 400m freestyle heats, partnering Jamie Perkins.
The men’s 100m breaststroke heats feature Sam Williamson and Josh Yong. The men’s 400m freestyle heats feature Elijah Winnington and Sam Short.
Further into the water will be the women’s 4x100m freestyle relay and the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay (Australia).
Basketball, 7:00 PM
The Boomers are in form and take the field in Group A, where they play Spain.
Brian Goorjian’s men won bronze in Tokyo three years ago and after pushing Team USA to the limit in a recent exhibition match, they still expect to have a medal shot.
Now that the opening ceremony in Paris is behind us, the focus turns to the athletes, including Australian swimming superstar Ariarne Titmus (pictured)
Jessica Fox (pictured as the opening ceremony flag bearer) will compete in the women’s kayak series from midnight on Saturday (AEST).
Tennis, 8:00 p.m.
At Roland Garros, the location of Roland Garros, Australian veteran Matthew Ebden faces the tough task of taking on Novak Djokovic in the first round.
And if Ebden manages to surprise the Serb, Spanish tennis legend Rafael Nadal will likely be his next opponent on the clay.
In the doubles, Ellen Perez and Daria Saville face a tough task as they first take on American duos Coco Gauff and Jess Pegula.
Hockey, 9:15 p.m.
In the men’s pool B, the Kookaburras will play Argentina. Australia were unlucky to win silver in Tokyo after losing to Belgium in a penalty shootout, and will be looking to start their campaign well in Paris.

Women’s 3m synchro plank final: Maddison Keeney and Anabelle Smith.

Cycle route, from 10:30 PM
Women’s individual time trial: Grace Brown and 12.32 hours Men’s individual time trial: Lucas Plapp.
