24-year-old man arrested for sending threatening messages to actor Salman Khan
NEW DELHI: Mumbai police on Tuesday arrested a 24-year-old man for shipping threat messages to Bollywood actor Salman Khan, news agency PTI reported. This arrest follows a series of threatening messages the actor received in recent weeks.
Last Thursday, Bollywood star Salman Khan received one death threat of the Lawrence Bishnoi gangdelivered through a message sent to the Mumbai Traffic Control Room at Worli. The message referred to the songwriter of “Main Sikandar Houn” and demanded a ransom of Rs 5 crore from Khan, allegedly on behalf of the gang.
Earlier, on October 24, Mumbai Police had arrested a man in Jamshedpur for issuing threats against Salman Khan in the name of Lawrence Bishnoi. After this series of threats and an earlier shooting incident in April, Khan’s security was increased to level Y+.
The shooting took place on April 14 outside Salman Khan’s Galaxy Apartments residence in Bandra, Mumbai. Subsequent investigations linked the incident to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, prompting police to apply the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) against those involved.
Law enforcement authorities also revealed that Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother, Anmol Bishnoi, played a key role in encouraging the attackers. Anmol reportedly supplied weapons to the gunmen in Panvel on March 15, 2024, providing them with details of the target and instructed them to carry out the attack on Khan’s residence.
