NEW DELHI: The IIMs have probably said this for the first time cell phone jammers is used for select exam centers for Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 as a safety measure. CAT 2024 is scheduled on November 24 and will be held in three sessions.
The decision to use jammers could have been prompted by malpractices in other national-level exams in the country, said Hemang Panchmatia, program director of a leading coaching institute.
About 3.29 lakh candidates registered for CAT 2024, slightly higher than last year’s 3.28 lakh. The 2023 registrations were up 30% in a year – crossing the 3 lakh mark for the first time – but only 2.88 lakh came for the test.

Manoj Tiwari, director, IIM Mumbai, said the Indian economy is growing at a healthy pace despite challenging geopolitical situations. “Blooming manufacturing, improved logistics performance indices and resilient services sector activities are forcing more employment, especially skilled jobs to manage the massive growth in activities across sectors. If we maintain this stable trend of a booming economy, we can easily predict more CAT aspirants in the coming years,” he said.
