Best Tea Clubs & Subscriptions for 2024
If you have an adventurous tea drinker on your shopping list, this is a monthly loose leaf tea club to give as a gift. My subscription included several teas that made me think, “Oooh, I wonder what that would be like,” or “I didn’t know you could make tea taste like that.” Most were very good, including a crème brulee oolong and pumpkin spice black tea.
Subscribers to this loose tea service can choose from a mixed tea subscription box, a black tea box, a green tea box and a herbal tea box. A new, fresh and fragrant unique tea is delivered monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly.
Each fresh tea box contains a carefully curated selection of teas (14 grams of each), packaged with information about each of the different teas and in resealable bags. The teas vary based on the season and trending flavors. You also get reusable cotton tea filters with your first month’s subscription.
Prices: A subscription for three half-ounce samples starts at $18 per month for a full year, with annual payments.
Atlas allows you to personalize your subscription even more. When you sign up for this tea subscription box, you specify whether you want pure tea, blended tea or a variety. You also choose whether you want flavored and pure tea, herbal blends or all teas.
Atlas lives up to its name with elegant teas from some of the world’s finest tea producing regions, many in the East such as Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, India and Nepal.
Just like its sister subscription Atlas Coffee Club, all of these teas come with matching postcards with information about the region the tea comes from. I love that touch and can’t think of a more delightful thing to look at while sipping.
The basic subscription for this service doesn’t include a huge amount of tea per delivery, so this is a perfect tea club for an average tea drinker or a tea lover who has a standard morning variety but likes to add a new herbal or oolong tea every now and then.
Prices: A subscription provides two teas per month (30 cups) and costs $4 for the first shipment and $14 thereafter. Signing up is easy and you can cancel at any time.
Art of Tea has one of the most intense tea clubs to experience each type of tea. To get an idea of your preferences, you can try the tea profile quiz, where information is collected such as what time of day you drink tea, what flavors you like and don’t like, and how experienced you are with tea. At the end, teas are recommended based on your answers.
With the Tea Club subscription, you can choose from six different tea subscription types: single origin, pyramid tea bags, classics, decaf, explore and wellness. You can also choose from a three-month, six-month and twelve-month subscription.
Each monthly tea box contains just one type of tea. I received four ounces of hot masala chai in my first box and it was heavenly on a cool Sunday afternoon. Between two and four ounces of tea (or 12 tea bags if you selected pyramid bags) are sent with information to delve deeper into the wide world of tea. Teas are selected seasonally and you will receive a new fresh tea or flavored tea each month.
Please note that Art of Tea ships a different amount of tea depending on your tea club selection (single-origin, classic, tea bags), but the prices are the same. There is also a extensive shop with tea and tea related products if you are not a subscriber.
Prices: A three-month subscription costs $81, a six-month subscription costs $133, and a full year costs $254.
As if a warm cup of tea doesn’t make you feel good enough, how about supporting only small tea farmers? Verdant Tea Club operates as a CSA, with teas selected from a single farmer each month to highlight the work of their family.
My first delivery consisted of a hot oolong tea, a green tea, and two full-bodied black teas (all loose leaf), along with brewing instructions for each variety and colorful background information about that month’s small farm.
Prices: Verdant Tea Club costs $35 per month, $99 for three months, $195 for six months, or $385 for a year and will include three to 10 teas totaling 75 grams (about 2.6 ounces). That will likely include hyper-seasonal teas and fresh, limited harvests.
The Republic of Tea is a vast marketplace of teas with a subscription option, if you so desire. Sign up for the Tea of the Month Club and you’ll receive 50 bags of a new tea every 30 days, unless you opt for the assortment subscription. You can choose the assortment subscription or all of your teas in one category, such as black teas, herbal teas, wellness blends, and more.
The big difference between this tea subscription service and most other tea subscription boxes is that you can preview the entire six or twelve months of tea deliveries in advance and decide in advance whether the selection interests you to try. It’s also the perfect gift subscription because you know what teas are coming, but your loved one will be surprised each month.
Republic of Tea’s tea is excellent, but be aware that the subscription is a bit more cumbersome and impersonal than the others. This is a good gift for the pragmatic tea drinker on your list.
Prices: Six months of tea club supplies cost $109 and a full year costs $190.
