8 crore jobs created in last 3-4 years; has silenced critics: PM Modi | India News – Times of India
MUMBAI: Prime Minister Modiwho was in town on Saturday for the groundbreaking ceremony for infrastructure works worth Rs 29,400 crore, said that around eight crore new jobs have been created in India in the last 3-4 years and this has silenced those spreading a false narrative about the situation in the country. This was the prime minister’s first visit to Mumbai after the Lok Sabha elections.
“People of the country are smart and the public recognises this. As soon as the new government took oath, we took a step to provide decent pucca houses to poor people and this also included houses for several adivasis and Dalits. Every infrastructure project leads to job creation and with the increase in pace, employment opportunities also increase,” PM Modi said.
The RBI’s KLEMS database The data released on Monday said that the country’s employment growth doubled to 6% (provisional) in FY2024, compared to a rise of 3.2% in FY2023. In absolute terms, the number of jobs rose by around 4.7 crore to 64.3 crore in FY2024. In FY2023, the total labour force stood at 59.7 crore. The data also showed that the country has added 7.8 crore jobs since FY2021.
“In the third term the NDA government will work three times faster. Maharashtra has the power of industry, agriculture, financial sector and this has made Mumbai the financial hub. I want to make Mumbai the fintech capital and Maharashtra the tourism capital of the country,” the Prime Minister said.
“Mumbai has completed Coastal Road and Atal Setu and attempts were made to delay it, but now 20,000 cars are using it (Atal Setu) daily. Also, fuel worth Rs 20-25 lakh is being saved by this. With this approach, we are making Mumbai’s transport better in every possible way. Ten years ago, there was only an 8 km metro line in Mumbai, but now it is 80 km. Besides, a 200 km metro network is being developed,” PM Modi said.
PM Modi launched the Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana with an outlay of about Rs 5,600 crore. It is an internship programme aimed at tackling youth unemployment by providing opportunities for skill enhancement and exposure to industry.
