PM Modi and Guyanese President Irfaan Ali planted a sapling in Georgetown, symbolizing a global embrace of environmental awareness campaign, which has seen massive participation across the country since its launch on World Environment Day on June 5 this year.
The initiative encouraged people to plant a sapling in tribute to their mothers, interweaving the themes of caring for the environment with the universal bond of maternal love.
“This act was not just about environmental awareness, but also about promoting a connection between nations through shared values of respect for nature and motherhood,” a senior official said.
Later in a post on sustainability! In a very special gesture, the President of Guyana and my friend, Dr. Irfaan Ali, participated in the ‘ek ped maa kenaam’ (a tree for mother) movement by planting a tree with his grandmother and mother-in-law. .”
