I tried the new dupes from Aldi – there’s an Estee Lauder one for £70 less
At 29, I’ve only worn two fragrances; DKNY Apple as a teenager and Vera Wang Princess as an adult.
I’ve sprayed and sprayed thousands of scents hoping to find a new favorite.
But instead of stimulating my senses, my nose keeps turning upward in disgust.
Aldi sent me its new scents from the Lacura range to try.
There are three scents; Golden Beauty, Radiant Majesty and Forever Adore – all £6.99 each – and launching in stores today.
Because of my track record with perfumes, I wasn’t hopeful. But a few spritzes later…
Golden beauty
With notes of lily, solar notes and frangipani, warmed by amber and benzoin, the fragrance is said to be Parisian-inspired.
Golden Beauty was the strongest scent and lingered long after it was sprayed, with notes of lily most prominent.
It exudes sexiness, sophistication and confidence: everything that a Parisian woman is.
It wouldn’t be a scent I would wear, but I appreciate the floral authenticity – it smells like I’m walking into a room with a bunch of lilies just blooming.
Radiant Majesty
With a powerful blend of vanilla, lavender, ginger and cocoa, Radiant Majesty is considered a ‘quintessentially British [and] elegant” scent.
I’m not normally a fan of sweet scents, but Radiant Majesty isn’t cloying or sticky like many can be.
The scent reminds me of an English rose garden in summer.
It smells youthful and expensive – a perfect Christmas perfume for a money-conscious mother with a beauty-obsessed teenager.
Forever love it
Escape to an Italian winter paradise with Forever Adore perfume.
This captivating scent will sweep fans away with notes of candied lemon, panna cotta and orange blossom, with hints of vanilla and rum on the finish.
A very interesting scent that I would call my favorite of the three.
This is a lovely light, zesty song – not so fresh that people will wonder if you’ve just squeezed oranges and lemons – but the vanilla balances the citrus wonderfully.
It is a very warming, creamy scent – notes you recognize from festive or winter scents.
The scent is said to be extremely similar to Estee Lauder’s Infinite Sky perfume, which costs £78 for 40ml.
Forever Adore is £71 cheaper and would make the perfect stocking stuffer.
