Development of Google Pixel Tablet 3 has reportedly been canceled
Google has reportedly halted development of its rumored Pixel Tablet 3. Employees who worked on the project are said to have been transferred to different projects within the company. Previous rumors pointed to a 2027 launch timeline for Google’s third-generation tablet. It was said to come with a Tensor G6 chipset. The alleged Pixel Tablet 2 could be Google’s last tablet. The brand launched its Pixel Tablet in 2023.
Google has reportedly pulled the plug on the Pixel Tablet 3
Android headlines, quoting industry sourcesreports that Google has canceled development of its Pixel Tablet 3. The device, known internally as “Kiyomi”, will not be moving forward and this decision was reportedly made sometime last week. Staff previously assigned to the Pixel Tablet 3 project would be reassigned to different projects within the company.
Placing the Pixel Tablet 3 on the shelf could change Google’s hardware roadmap. It was previously tipped to launch in 2027 with a Tensor G6 chipset under the hood. The latest development indicates that Pixel Tablet 2 will be Google’s last tablet.
After a hiatus, Google returned to the tablet market in 2023 with the launch of the Pixel Tablet. While no successor has been announced yet, we’ve seen several rumors about the Pixel Tablet 2. It’s expected to officially launch with a keyboard case later this year. It is said to have an 8-megapixel sensor on the front and back.
Pixel Tablet starts at $499 (approximately Rs. 40,900). It has a 10.95-inch WQXGA display (1,600 x 2,560 pixels). It is compatible with a USI 2.0 touch pen. It runs on Google’s in-house octa-core Tensor G2 SoC along with a Titan M2 security chip. It has 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 built-in storage.
The Pixel Tablet has an 8 megapixel camera on the front and an 8 megapixel camera on the back. It has four speakers and offers Google Assistant support. It comes with a magnetic dock with support for Pogo pin connectors. The tablet is backed by a 27Wh battery.
