Charges against Gautam Adani: Four US-named states had a government led by Congress and its allies, says BJP | India News – Times of India
While steering clear of charges against the Adani group by US agencies, BJP MP and spokesperson Sambit Patra said that the states allegedly involved in the said bribery – Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh – during the period in question were governed by opposition parties. (July 2021 to February 2022).
“All four states mentioned in the document had neither our chief ministers nor a government supported by us. They all had Congress and its allies governments,” he said. This, according to Patra, suggested that if there were any malpractices, it was under the control of opposition-led states, and not under the rule of the BJP.
Patra accused the Congress of hypocrisy and sought answers from Rahul. “Why did Bhupesh Baghel, as Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, take over an investment of Rs 25,000 crore from the Adani Group? Why did Ashok Gehlot, as Rajasthan CM, take over an investment of Rs 65,000 crore from the Adani Group? Why did your CM sign in Karnataka Siddaramaiah has an MoU with Adani Group for Rs 1,00,000 crore investment? Adani group invested Rs 35,000 crore. Tamil Nadu has an investment of Rs 4,500 crore, he said.
“Why did Telangana CM Revanth Reddy accept a grant of Rs 100 crore for skill development from Adani Foundation on October 19, 2024? While according to you he is a corrupt person. Congress and Rahul Gandhi should answer all these questions,” he said, adding that the law would take its course based on the allegations against Adani.
Patra said Rahul’s accusations on Thursday followed a pattern of his mother Sonia Gandhi and the Congress trying to tarnish Modi’s image since 2002, a reference to the communal riots in Gujarat when Modi was prime minister, but in vain .
The spokesperson said Rahul alleged corruption in the Rafale deal in the run-up to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and had also gone after the Central government on the Covid vaccines issue, adding that the Supreme Court had dismissed the allegations of bribery in the purchase of the fighter jet. .
Instead of making accusations to the press, Rahul should go to court and file cases if he believes there is misconduct, he added.
Patra said the BJP had repeatedly moved courts and received favorable verdicts in its demand for a probe into corruption allegations against the previous Congress-led UPA government. He said Rahul has tried to target the Indian economy by making all kinds of allegations and investors of over Rs 2.5 crore lost a lot of money when the stock market plunged on Thursday.
Patra also took exception to Rahul’s claim that his party should also do the work of the judiciary, saying this amounted to contempt of court. “He does not understand the legal and technical details surrounding an issue and only repeats what he is told by advisors,” he added.
