Arcane makers say it will be a long time before the next League of Legends adaptation lands on Netflix: ‘We’re not working on that yet’
- ArcaneThe showrunners of the series have hinted that it will be a long time before their next project comes out
- Several League of Legends (Lol) movies and TV shows are in development, but none are in full production
- The creators of the award-winning Netflix animated series will only make something they are ‘truly passionate about’
ArcaneThe game’s creators have hinted that it will be a long time before their next one appears League of Legends (Lol) movie or TV adaptation is released into the wild.
I previously spoke exclusively to TechRadar Arcane season 2 made its first Netflix debut on November 9, Christian Linke and Alex Yee warned fans not to expect another Lol project, animated or live-action, in the near future. Although there were several projects in development, the pair wanted to emphasize that “we are not in production on any of these projects.”
The disappointing update comes five months after it was announced ArcaneThe second season would also be the last. Speaking of a pre-recorded video posted on ArcaneBut on Linke’s various social media accounts, Linke tempered fans’ grief — including mine — by confirming more Lol Adjustments were in the works. In fact, one of the co-creators of Netflix’s top shows said he hoped to share more news before the end of 2024.

Of Arcane With the final three episodes of season 2 dropping tomorrow (November 23), viewers may be hoping for some sort of reveal – either as a post-credits scene or as a new project announcement on social media – before 2024 rolls around. The latter is certainly possible, but given what Linke and Yee told me when I asked for a status update on what’s going to happen, I wouldn’t rely on the former.
“That’s the fun part for us,” Linke replied when I asked what part of it Lol champions and/or regions of Runeterra we would see Arcane‘s sequel. ‘We’re actually just concentrating on the future.
“Look, we played the game [League of Legends] forever and there are a lot of characters that we are passionate about,” Linke continued. “The way we explore this is, ‘What are we really passionate about?’ and ‘What do we have that will be a great story that our audience will also be passionate about?’. We are not yet in production with any of these. We’re actually just developing stories and scripts at the moment, so unfortunately I can’t say anything yet. I wish I could. I wish there was a maturity on the internet where everyone says, “It’s okay if it doesn’t work out.” Everything we say to you [Tom] is considered a hard obligation that will end our lives if it is not done!”

“I think if we were to say, at any time Arcane‘s development, that we knew for sure what the end result of this show would be, we would have lied many times,” Yee added. “So yeah, I think it’s good that we did the right thing [not say anything] and continue that way as we develop these things.
“Many of the stories will be exciting [LoL] players and Arcane fans are the same ones that excite us. So the big message from us is: rest assured, we are still hungry to tell these stories.”
Considering it took six years to make Arcane‘s first season and then three years from now to make the sequel, it sounds like we’re all in for a long wait for a new season Lol adaptation to launch on Netflix, also called the world’s best streaming service. Like I said, we won’t be getting another nine-episode episode Arcane to bridge us in the meantime, even though there were rumors that Arcane was initially scheduled to last five seasons. Despite reports to the contrary, Linke and Yee told me this was “never the plan.” Arcane last more than two seasons. Basically, while we wait for an official reveal of the sequel show, you and I will just have to watch Arcane will be repeated for many months and years to come.
But let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. The third and final act of Season 2 will happen soon, so remind yourself what happened in the previous three chapters by reading my Arcane season 2 act 2 ending explained piece.
