I’m a mother and surrogate – trolls say I’m selling my children but I only get £3 an hour
A mother has been criticized for selling her children after becoming a surrogate for other couples struggling to conceive.
Yessenia Latorre is a mother of three from the US and revealed the real reason behind her surrogacy despite people thinking she was doing it for money.
Speaking to Truly, she said: ‘I have been accused of selling my child.
“I was given $50,000 (£39,573) as a surrogate. I got a lot of hate online that I never really expected. ‘Keep selling yourself’, ‘The baby is still yours.'”
Yessenia has three boys of her own: Tyson, 6, Trey, 5, and Tamir, who is eight weeks old.
She revealed that the surrogate mother she had was also a boy and revealed that she decided to go through the process after tragically suffering a miscarriage herself.

“I had a miscarriage and it changed my life forever. It ultimately led to me getting into surrogacy so I could help other people have children,” she explained.
The mother was already an egg donor, but decided not to use her own eggs in the surrogacy, so that the child she was carrying was not biologically hers.
Yessenia, who already had Tyson and Trey when she was a surrogate, explained to the boys that she was having a baby, but it wasn’t hers, which also allowed them to meet the parents.
After getting the surrogacy option, Yessenia had another child, Tamir, but she hopes that once she’s done breastfeeding, she can help another family.
Yessenia decided to share her surrogacy journey on social media to help others get through it. Instead, she got hateful comments thrown her way.
Many claim she ‘rented out her body’ for easy money, but she revealed it didn’t make her rich, especially as she only earned £3 an hour.
She said: ‘They assume I’m going to get $100,000, but that’s not the case at all.
“So I got paid $40,000, and about $5-10,000 advantagesbut in the end it was 18 months of my life. I had to give birth. I had to use IVF drugs. I tell people all the time, I only got $4 an hour.”
“I think a lot of people think surrogacy is a get-rich-quick way.”
She added: “What I love most about the process was seeing the baby in his parents’ arms for the first time. I was so proud of what I did.”
What is surrogacy?
Surrogacy is the name given to a form of pregnancy in which a woman carries and gives birth to someone else’s baby.
The surrogate mother is then expected to give up the baby at birth so that it can be raised by the couple who originally wanted the baby.
Surrogacy is often an option for people who cannot have children of their own, or for same-sex couples.
According to surrogacy charity Childlessness Overcome Through Surrogacy (COTS)There are two different types of surrogacy.
- Traditional surrogacy: When the surrogate mother uses her own egg, fertilized with the intended father’s sperm.
- Surrogacy: The surrogacy carries the genetic child of the intended parent, conceived through IVF, which requires specialized doctors.
How are surrogate mothers born?
In traditional surrogacy procedures, the egg is artificially inseminated using a syringe.
Surrogacy is performed through IVF.
During this in vitro fertilization process, the egg is removed from the woman’s ovaries and fertilized with sperm in a laboratory.
The embryo is then planted in the surrogate mother’s uterus to grow and develop.
This procedure must be performed by specialized doctors and the birth mother must still have working ovaries.
The clip on it Really YouTube went viral with over 16,000 views and people were quick to praise the mother in the comments for her selfless act.
One person wrote: “It’s very moving that losing her own child has helped her empathize with others who are struggling to become parents. I love that they took everyone’s feelings into account, including herself, the biological children, the husband, and the in-laws. Truly a loving and supportive family.”
Another commented: “Being pregnant is so hard. People saying she’s selling her babies are wild. $50,000 isn’t worth it. Seems like she legitimately wants to help others.”
“People are literally very stupid and stupid. She didn’t sell her child, she helped a woman who can’t experience pregnancy, have a child, grow up people,” a third wrote.
Meanwhile, a fourth said: “What a beautiful thing she has done, children bring so much joy and purpose to their parents’ lives, I’m glad she had the confidence to do this for those who aren’t so fortunate to be able to do for them. himself.”
“Her selflessness is so impressive. What a wonderful woman!” claimed a fifth.
Someone else added: “I love it. She gives women/couples something they couldn’t do alone. My mom always said she would be a surrogate for someone if she needed to because she loved being pregnant, lol.”
