The £8 purchase I’m A Celeb’s Maura Higgins swears by to cure perioral dermatitis
In January 2023, Maura Higgins had to seek medical attention after developing a rash on her face.
The 33-year-old suffered from perioral dermatitis and embarked on a year-long journey to recover from it.
Perioral dermatitis is a skin condition that manifests as a rash around the mouth, according to Patient Access.
The word ‘perioral’ means ‘around the mouth’, and ‘dermatitis’ means ‘inflammation of the skin’.
“Small red or pink lumps usually form on the skin anywhere around the outside of the mouth,” the manual reads.
“These bumps around the mouth may look like acne spots, but perioral dermatitis is not acne.

“They can also look like eczema around the mouth, or a rash next to the mouth.”
I’m A Celeb’s Maura has been open about her struggles with the skin condition and regularly shared updates with fans, offering advice to other women who were also struggling with it.
Fast forward to now: the jungle hopeful appears in Australia on the hit ITV show without a red bump in sight.
And apparently her skin savior was an £8 purchase from Boots.
Maura revealed on TikTok earlier this year that she swears by CeraVe facial cleansers to get rid of perioral dermatitis.
CeraVe products have become popular in 2020 and are all designed to gently help the skin without stripping it of essential oils.
In April this year, Maura told fans she used “CeraVe cleanser and La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Baume” to achieve her new, glowing skin.
She didn’t take antibiotics, but added: “If it hadn’t gone away I probably would have.
“I really think it was the La Roche-Posay B5 Baume that cleared it up and CeraVe also has a really good barrier repair cream.”
CeraVe cleansers include versions for pimple-fighting, hydration and smoothing effects.
