A camping lover told how a hunting trip with friends was a nightmare after being forced, both legs amputated after he burned himself while cooking pasta.
Max Armstrong, 40, camp in Kiowa in December, Colorado, when he burned his thumb while he cooked pasta for dinner.

But Max's worries grew after his left leg started to swell and his toenail started to become purple a few days later.
After almost a week, the business owner was in so much pain that he was Was driven by his friends to the Eventhealth Parker Hospital Emergency Room.
As soon as he came to the hospital, the doctors noticed his burned thumb that Max described as 'pretty ugly', and added: “It had turned black and looked like it had been thrown away to my thumb.”
His eyes began to roll back in his head and doctors soon confirmed that he was in critical danger.
They concluded That strip had a bacterium in its burn and had quickly developed into Sepsis – which can be fatal if it is not treated properly.

Max said: 'It was a hunting trip with friends who became a bit of a nightmare.
'I grabbed a frying pan wrong and my thumb touched the hot part, I felt it burning while I brought it to the table, but I didn't want to drop it.
'I didn't think much about it, because I got burns, scratches and cuts from life in the open air and being outside all my life.
'After dinner I cleaned up the burn, put a connection on it and left it. Unfortunately, the dinner was enough for the burn to get Strep A A. '
He added: 'Two days after I got the burn, one of my legs started to swell. At a certain point I attributed to hurting my ankle without realizing it. There was no significant pain at the moment, but that was only two days later.
'On December 7, I decided to go home and my buddy suggested that we would go to the hospital. At that time my toenails started to become purple and the swelling had increased. '
Max was placed in an induced coma for six days and was transported at that time to AdventHealth Porter, Denver, Colorado to take advantage of their better facilities.
Doctors told his family that there was a chance that he might not make it, but on December 13 Max woke up from his coma.

The sharp camper had Strep A and was placed in an induced coma for six days, when he woke up, he was told that his feet were too damaged and he should have a double amputation
He said: 'My family was there, my mother, my wife – everyone was very happy to see me. The doctors told them that I might not make it, there was a lot of concern that I would never wake up. '
While he was in the coma, Max said that the sepsis had completely eaten at his feet and started spreading to his legs.
After waking up Max said that his feet were both completely black and doctors were forced to recommend amputation because his feet were too damaged to save.
Two days before Christmas, Max entered an operation of three hours.
Max said: 'Initially when I woke up, I thought my legs were still there and then I came to realize that they were not.
“I felt over my leg and realized that my legs were not there, I asked the nurse and she confirmed that I had amputated my legs.
“She told me that my family was waiting for me and reminded me of them who anchored me.”

On January 14, Max left the hospital and went to the Sky Ridge Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, Lone Tree, Colorado, where he spent 16 days before he was finally released two weeks later.
Max trusts now and has learned triceps and shoulder exercises to help him with mobility.
Max said: 'They give you physical rehabilitation three times a day every day. There are many triceps work and shoulder exercises.
“Now I am in a wheelchair, my shoulder and triceps are my lifeline.”
