'With folded hands': Jailed J&K MP-engineer Rashid pleads for bail to attend Parliament session
NEW DELHI: Member of Parliament from Jammu and Kashmir Engineer Rashid approached on Monday a Delhi High Court applying for provisional bail in a case of terrorist financing to participate in the parliamentary session.
Principal District and Sessions Judge Vimal Kumar Yadav directed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to file their response by November 27.
Virtually speaking from Tihar PrisonRashid said: “I was elected by my people. I was not allowed to attend the last hearing. With folded hands, I request that I be granted interim bail.”
During the course of the hearing, both the counsel and the NIA prosecutors collectively requested that the matter remain in the current court instead of being transferred to another jurisdiction.
The next hearing is scheduled for November 27, when the court will consider arguments from both sides.
