I get paid to be a bridesmaid – guests are told I’m a long lost friend
A WOMAN has revealed she is paid to attend weddings and pretend to be a long-lost friend of the bride.
Tiffany Wright is an “undercover bridesmaid” and is hired by brides to replace bridesmaids who had to drop out at the last minute and to ensure everything goes smoothly on the big day.
None of the other bridesmaids or guests are aware that Tiffany doesn’t know the bride, and she makes up a backstory, such as that she met the bride years ago while they were on a gap year.
Tiffany’s previous job was as a proposal planner, but after seeing how stressed brides often became at weddings she attended, she had a brainwave and decided to become a professional bridesmaid.
Tiffany offers three different bridesmaid packages: For £250 she offers an ‘Online Bridesmaids’ service, including 1:1 sessions where she advises on wedding planning choices such as seating plans and color themes.
She also offers an ‘Ultimate Professional Bridesmaid’ package, which includes purchasing wedding and bridesmaid dresses, shopping for groceries and attending the wedding ceremony.

A bride-to-be, Kirsten, hired Tiffany as her maid of honor because she was concerned that her family members were not getting along on the big day, and needed someone to keep the peace.
“I don’t feel comfortable asking my friends to make sure Uncle Tom isn’t talking to X,” she said OMG weddings.
“I just want everyone to have a good time.”
Mum-of-two Kirsten said she would feel much more relaxed on her special day if she could trust Tiffany to make sure everything was fine.
Tiffany has worked with hundreds of brides and said she has encountered every scenario imaginable.
“I’m an expert on weddings. I’ve encountered every situation that could go wrong, so I know how to handle it,” she said.
However, she revealed that her job can be extremely stressful as she is responsible for whether or not the day goes well.
“It could ruin a wedding day if I don’t take action,” she said.
One of the problems she often encounters is drama between the other bridesmaids.
Checking on the other bridesmaids can be a drama in itself,” she said Harper’s Bazaar.
Wedding dress trends 2024
Sophie Creed, bridal designer and founder of bridal brand e&w Couture, shared this year’s most popular wedding dress designs.
Sustainable chic
Bridal fashion in 2024 is embracing a powerful shift towards sustainability, with brides looking closely at what fabrics are used to make the dresses.
Many brides also want to wear a second-hand dress or a vintage number.
Boho bliss
The bohemian aesthetic is effortless and relaxed elegance – ideal for relaxed weddings. Whether in the garden, on the beach or under the stars, the boho trend is also great for nature-inspired weddings.
Couples opting for outdoor locations and bohemian-inspired dresses with flowing silhouettes, floral lace and whimsical details that blend in with the natural surroundings. It’s about bringing the romance of the outdoors into the wedding wardrobe.
Bohemian style dresses often feature vintage-inspired lace, flowing sleeves and ethereal details that stand the test of time.
Satin elegance
Satin wedding dresses capture the hearts of brides who appreciate the combination of modern simplicity and classic luxury.
This trend suits weddings that prioritize an elegant, sophisticated aesthetic, making it an ideal choice for formal parties, chic city weddings or any event where the bride presents herself in a dress that exudes sophistication and grace.
Daring romance
Oversized and strikingly modern show a shift in bridal fashion.
This trend is for the bride who dares to be different, breaks away from tradition and embraces a vibrant, contemporary aesthetic on the most important day of her life.
“There is often one alpha bridesmaid who is suspicious of me and it can be difficult to negotiate that and make sure everyone is happy.”
She added that some of the brides she works for are “bridezillas” who have called her at midnight and demanded she dye her hair to match the wedding aesthetic.
However, despite the challenges, Tiffany said her unique job is very rewarding.
She said: “The last wedding I went to, the father of the bride knew I had been accepted and he was so nervous about giving his speech,” she said.
“About five minutes before he was to speak, he asked me to read a beautiful poem he had written about his daughter because he was too emotional.
“My work may be unique, but it’s experiences like this that make it so rewarding.”
