Brave Ukrainian soldier in T-shirt fights SIX Russians single-handedly in video showing frontline trench warfare

The moment a lone Ukrainian soldier bravely fought six Russians in a bitter close-quarters firefight has emerged in the latest evidence of the savage trench warfare raging in Eastern Europe.

The breathless drone footage showed the lone Ukrainian, dressed in combat trousers and nothing but an olive green T-shirt, stalking along a ridge next to a network of trenches in anticipation of a possible Russian attack.

Suddenly, two Russian soldiers taking refuge in the trench appeared and fired a volley of shots at him from just a few meters away.

The Ukrainian, a member of the ‘K-2 Battalion’ of the 54th Mechanized Brigade of Ukraine, took cover and miraculously dodged the oncoming bullets before immediately firing a burst of his own.

Four more Russian soldiers were seen supporting their comrades, with the six-man group unleashing a torrent of lead on the heavily outmatched Ukrainian defender.

But he refused to retreat and continued firing until an artillery shell shot through the air and struck close to the Russian position.

Finally, as the artillery came in and the fearless Ukrainian continued to fire back, the Russians turned and ran, retreating through the trench network.

Later in the clip, a Russian, who appeared to have been abandoned by his unit, staggered through a tree line before being hit by an explosive charge.

The K-2 battalion has not revealed exactly where the stunning battle took place, but the unit was formed in the disputed city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region and has taken part in several of the area’s most intense conflicts.

Meanwhile, both countries continue to exchange punishing air strikes.

Russia said this morning that its air defenses had shot down eight ballistic missiles fired by Ukraine, amid heightened tensions over Kiev’s use of Western-supplied long-range weapons against Russia.

Ukraine also targeted a Russian fuel depot, while Russian airstrikes injured more than 30 people in attacks on Odessa and Kharkiv, the latest wave of attacks.

The nearly three-year war has escalated dramatically in the past week, with both sides deploying new weapons as they try to gain the upper hand on the battlefield before Donald Trump enters the White House in January.

The Republican has promised to reach a peace deal but has not said how and is a critic of US aid to Kiev.

Ukraine fired US-made ATACMS ballistic missiles at Russia for the first time last week after receiving approval from Washington, sparking a furious response from Moscow.

“Air defense forces shot down eight ballistic missiles,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a daily briefing on Monday, without saying what type of missiles were used or where they were shot down.

Moscow and Kiev have escalated their use of long-range missiles after the United States gave Ukraine permission, long sought by Kiev, to use the weapons against Russia.

Moscow fired an experimental hypersonic missile at the Ukrainian city of Dnipro last Thursday, with President Vladimir Putin warning that the weapon, which he named Oreshnik, could be used in combat again.

Adding to tensions, a Ukrainian drone strike on the Russian border town of Shebekino killed a civilian on Monday, local governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said.

Another man was injured in the attack, he said, while separate Ukrainian shelling damaged several apartments.

Ukrainian drones, meanwhile, have hit a fuel facility in Russia’s Kaluga region, a Ukrainian military intelligence source said, in Kiev’s latest attack on Moscow’s power plants.

The claim came as Ukrainian authorities said a Russian missile attack had injured nearly 20 people in the eastern city of Kharkiv.

“As a result of an operation by the Defense Intelligence Service of Ukraine, a fuel and energy facility in the Kaluga region of Russia was hit overnight,” the source said.

The Russian governor of Kaluga, just south of the capital Moscow, said air defense systems in the region had shot down eight drones and confirmed that an “industrial enterprise” had caught fire.

Unverified images on social media of the alleged attack showed tracer munitions cutting through the night sky and a large fire next to two industrial smokestacks.

“The target of the attack was an oil depot of Kaluganefteprodukt JSC, which is involved in supporting Russian armed aggression against Ukraine,” the source said.

Kharkov residents and rescue workers were seen surveying damage and clearing rubble after the latest Russian attack on the city, which has been repeatedly bombed since the Kremlin launched its invasion in early 2022.

Mayor Igor Terekhov said 23 people had been injured and about 40 buildings damaged, including official and administrative offices.

Ukraine’s air force said it shot down 71 drones – including the Iranian-designed Shahed – launched by Russian forces, while another 71 were ‘presumably’ downed using electronic jamming defense systems.

“Previously, the Shahed attacks were only carried out at night. Now the enemy is also using attack UAVs during the day,” the air force said in a statement.

In the southern port city of Odesa, authorities said a Russian attack had damaged infrastructure and injured 11 people.

“These Russian attacks on Ukrainian life can be stopped – through pressure, sanctions, blocking the occupying forces’ access to the components they use to create the instruments of this terror, military aid packages for Ukraine and a determination that must remain steadfast are,” the president said. said Volodymyr Zelensky.
