Congress launches national campaign ‘Save Constitution’ | India News – Times of India
Ahead of the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution by the Constituent Assembly, spokesperson Jairam Ramesh quoted from Ambedkar’s speech in which he praised the Congress which “is entitled to all credit for the smooth passage of the Draft Constitution in the Assembly”, and added “While the clever tribute from Dr. Ambedkar to the Congress still resonated, the RSS mouthpiece organizer attacked the Constitution of India on November 30, 1949, saying it had not happened. was inspired by Manusmriti and on January 11, 1950, bitterly condemned Dr. Ambedkar himself – days before the Republic of India was born.
The Congress directed its state units to undertake extensive public outreach to sensitize the people about the ‘violations’ by the ruling BJP. Calling it a targeted campaign, the AICC is focused on five constitutional issues that the states should emphasize – caste enumeration and “BJP’s attacks on reservation system,” policies that have worsened conditions for SC/ST/OBC/Minorities/DNT/women, “ BJP’s divisive political targets minorities/SC/ST/OBC”, favoritism towards crony businessmen, and attacks on freedom of speech, abuse of agencies, erosion of democratic values.
An AICC directive from general secretary KC Venugopal instructed that the organization should be mobilized down to the block level in carrying out wide outreach through rallies, door-to-door visits, media engagement and grassroots discussions. “The campaign must resonate with the people of your state,” the report said.
