Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav slam BJP over Sambhal violence and blame government | India News – Times of India
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi sought the Supreme Court’s intervention to ensure justice, while SP chief Akhilesh Yadav demanded that those in the government responsible for the deaths be suspended and murder cases filed against them.
With Sambhal MP Zia-ur-Rehman Barq by his side in Parliament, Yadav alleged that the court had given probe orders without hearing the other side. “Officials without reading the order reached there for the investigation. The mosque committee, people’s representatives… cooperated. The investigation was completed that day. Who ordered a second investigation? The mosque committee and others cooperated again. When people moved outside gathered When they entered the mosque and asked why the investigation was necessary, the circle officer abused them. Some people pelted stones, after which the police opened fire. Those responsible for damaging the area of Sambhal and filing this petition, should be held responsible along with the police and administration,” he added.
“The incident that took place is unfortunate. Why was an FIR lodged against him when our MP Zia-ur Rehman was not even in Sambhal?” asked the SP chief.
Soon after Lok Sabha met that day, Congress’s Gaurav Gogoi tried to turn up the heat on Sambhal, but Speaker Om Birla read out references to obituaries and adjourned the House. Opposition leaders, including Yadav, had called on the House of Representatives to take up the Sambhal issue.
Barq said the incident was “pre-planned” and members of the Muslim community were targeted.
In a post on nor in the interest of the state. We must all unite to ensure that India progresses on the path of unity and constitution, and not communalism and hatred.”
Newly elected MP from Wayanad Priyanka Gandhi said, “The way the government acted hastily on such a sensitive issue, without listening to the other side, without taking both sides into confidence, shows that the government itself is destroying the atmosphere there has spoiled.”
