Watch: TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee and BJP MP Jagdambika Pal shake hands in Parliament after JPC meeting
NEW DELHI: Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee shared a light moment with BJP MP Jagdambika Pal on tuesday for the first time after the infamous ‘glass bottle’ incident last month during the Joint Parliamentary Committee meeting on the Waqf bill.
A video showed the two leaders shaking hands and talking about the next JPC meeting at Waqf in Parliament. Banerjee, who had smashed a glass bottle and thrown it at Pal during the meeting, urged the Speaker to allow opposition members to speak and then imitated Pal blocking opposition leaders from speaking.

The infamous JPC meeting that witnessed heated discussions on Waqf (Amendment) Bill witnessed a glass bottle being smashed and abuse being hurled between Banerjee and the BJP’s Abhijit Gangopadhyay, leading to the former’s suspension from the committee for one session.
Pal, who was the target of Banerjee’s outburst but emerged unscathed, stated that he was ready to resign if the JPC members felt he had been dishonest.
“They accuse me of covering up their crimes. I give everyone the opportunity to speak. “I never stop anyone in the meeting… If MPs say they have a problem with me and complain that I don’t let them speak, then I am ready to resign from this committee,” he had said.
