Traveling for Thanksgiving? Save money by borrowing an AirTag
It’s November, and if you’re planning to travel for Thanksgiving, you might be tempted to get one AirTag to keep track of your luggage. If a friend or family member has an extra AirTag that they aren’t using, you can borrow it and save yourself some money. When Apple came out iOS 17 in 2023, one of the useful new features it introduced was the ability to share AirTags with up to five people.
Apple released AirTags in 2021 as a way to keep track of valuables, like your keys if your bank eats them. AirTags can only be associated with one user at a time. Until now, you couldn’t lend anyone an AirTag, and if you traveled with someone who had an AirTag, you would get a notification that you were traveling with an AirTag. unknown AirTag. How to share AirTags
1. Open the Find my app.
2. Crane Articles at the bottom of your screen.
3. Tap the AirTag you want to share with others.
4. Crane Add person under Share AirTag.
Your iPhone will display a notification stating that once you’ve shared an AirTag, the people you shared it with will be able to locate it and they won’t receive unidentified tracking notifications. Crane Continue to choose who you share your AirTag with.
Once you share the AirTag, the other person will receive a notification to add it. All they have to do is tap the notification Add button, which adds the tag to their Find My app.
If you go through this process and receive a notification for a shared AirTag that you don’t recognize, you can tap Do not add.
How to Stop Sharing AirTags
Once a family member or friend returns your AirTag, you will no longer be able to share it with them. Here’s how.
1. Open the Find my app.
2. Crane Articles at the bottom of your screen.
3. Tap the AirTag you want to unshare.
4. Tap the name of the person you want to stop sharing with.
5. Crane To delete.
Your iPhone will display another notification stating that the person cannot locate your item and is receiving unidentified tracking notifications. Crane Stop sharing and you’re done.
