I work on a ‘spicy’ cruise ship and people are shocked at what happens on board
A WOMAN who works on a ‘racy’ cruise ship has revealed what it is really like to sail the seas on the action-packed ship.
Unlike the average cruise, so-called ‘spicy cruises’ largely revolve around the spicy activities that take place on board the ship.
Kate Shelor worked for a company called Temptations, which runs adult cruises and buys out the entire ship for its playful clientele.
Based in Las Vegas, Kate is a sex and relationships expert, as well as an intimacy coach and hypnotherapist.
It is these skills that led her to take a job with the company.
After traveling twice on this intimate journey, Kate opened up about what really happens between closed doors, including the elusive ‘red rooms’.

Although not specifically for swingers, the cruises are popular with many in the swinging community, and many choose to change sexual partners.
Speak with Boy BibleKate revealed that part of her role involved working in the ship’s ‘red room’, which is one of the big selling points for many holidaymakers.
But what is a red room?
On Temptation’s spicy cruises, the red room is a place where a lot of action takes place.
It is described as a ‘friendly space for people who want to experiment with their sexuality in a space where freedom reigns’.
Phones and cameras are strictly prohibited in the red room and the doors are also guarded by staff.
However, the red rooms are for couples only, with singles only allowed in if a couple brings them in.
“They bring all their own people and they choose a large space on the cruise ship to do this and they bring brand new mattresses,” said Kate.
‘You see them being loaded onto the ship when you board. And tons of clean sheets, too.”
“They will make this room up every night with tons of mattresses on the floor, plastic covers and sheets on top. There are towels and water. It looks sexy with sexy lighting,” she continued.
The room itself is often one of the larger rooms on the ship because they are so popular with guests.
Mattresses are scattered on the floor for obvious reasons, but you don’t have to get involved in the action and can just have a drink and watch, Kate explained.
As for Kate’s role in the red room, her work involved leading ‘hypnotic sex sessions’ with the aim of getting a large group of up to 80 people to climax at the same time.
“I teach people a little bit about the subconscious and then I have everyone in the room on their own mattress within their relationship and I have everyone close their eyes,” she said.
She described the experience as “really cool.”
How much does it cost?
Temptation Cruises can cost you as much as $31,000 (£24,732) for the top package in a three-bedroom cabin on a Caribbean cruise that sets sail next year.
Meanwhile, a smaller room for just two people costs around $2,250 (£1,794).
The company promises a “sense of freedom and empowerment you never knew existed, not to mention an insane amount of fun.”
Are cruise ship staff allowed to sleep with guests?
IN one word: “NO!”
Sleeping with guests is strictly prohibited on board cruise ships, with strict consequences for any staff member caught copulating with a tourist – but that doesn’t stop it.
A ship worker, who worked on a Celebrity Cruises boat, explained: “Fraternization with passengers is strictly prohibited – any crew member even suspected of being with a guest is asking for big trouble.”
He went on to explain that the rules were introduced “following a number of incidents involving guests using a variation of the ‘honey trap’.”
“Guests lured unsuspecting crew members to their cabins, slept with them and the next day claimed sexual assault and filed lawsuits against the cruise line,” he said.
However, another former cruise ship musician said fraternization with holidaymakers is so common that staff even have a special term for it.
“We call sleeping with passengers ‘cones’ because passengers were ‘cones,’” he said.
“We know all the nooks and crannies that the cameras can’t reach.”
Advantages and disadvantages of a cruise ship
Whether you’re considering a long vacation, working remotely, or even living aboard a cruise ship for a few months or years, here are the pros and cons of being a former cruise ship owner.
Plus points
- Travel the world, learn and experience new cultures
- Meet new people
- You don’t have to think or worry about cleaning the room or eating
Disadvantages
- Internet connection can be painfully slow and expensive
- Limited baggage allowance, so you must wear the same clothes during the rotation
- Not having control over where the ship would go and the ability to visit the same ports
- Same entertainment on board, movies on demand and little choice of TV channels
- No fresh newspapers or new books unless someone adds them to the library
- Relatively the same food, week after week, unless there are major menu changes per season.
- Occasional rough seas, bad weather and virus outbreaks on board.
