‘What’s stopping Mahayuti from announcing CM choice?’ Opposition demands silence | India News – Times of India
Shiv Sena (UBT) Member of Parliament Prijanka Chaturvedi On Wednesday, the Mahayuti alleged that he had deprived the people of Maharashtra of the promises made to them. Amid tension over ‘who will be the chief minister of Maharashtra: Devendra Fadnavis or Eknath Shinde?’, Chaturvedi wondered why the announcement for the chief minister’s name has not been made yet and called Mahayuti “power hungry”.
“If the name of Devendra Fadnavis is definitely known, make it known soon; what’s holding you back? Why are you depriving the people of Maharashtra of the promises they made, why are you keeping them away and why are you ignoring Maharashtra’s steering crisis? They are so hungry for power. It has been days since the election took place, but the results have not yet been announced.”
Chaturvedi further expressed concern over possible discrepancies in the counting of EVM votes. “Whether it is Haryana or Maharashtra, it has been reported that there is a difference between the votes cast and the votes counted in 95 seats. There are about 76 votes. Where it is said that the number of votes counted is less than the votes cast The question is whether EVMs are being used as a medium to tamper with the number of votes polled and counted to determine the winner. This is a matter of widespread debate, denying it rather than discussing it and resolving the issue. This is a matter of no confidence because it is contrary to the rules of our Constitution.” she added.
Congress Prime Minister Pramod Tiwari also raised questions over the Opposition’s silence in announcing the name of the Chief Minister’s post. Targeting the BJP, Tiwari said the saffron party “has a habit of breaking families and parties and ruining them wherever they go.”
“The same is being done in Maharashtra. They have used Shinde to the fullest and now he will not become CM,” Tiwari added.
Amid Opposition uproar over Maharashtra’s silence, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale on Tuesday alleged that Devendra Fadnavis should head the Mahayuti government because “the people of Maharashtra want him” to become the next CM. He further suggested that Eknath Shinde could be the deputy CM or join Prime Minister Modi’s government.
