CISF goes digital: new e-service book to speed up the pension process for retired staff
NEW DELHI: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Wednesday launched an ‘e-service book’ portal, which will benefit the 2,400 personnel who retire every year, by streamlining and accelerating the pension processing system and ensuring ensure that they receive pension benefits from the day they retire.
“From now on, the physical transfer of the service booklet will delay the payment of pension contributions by several months. The new digital framework will eliminate the need for physical transfer of the service book. One of the key features of the e-service book is its real-time tracking capability,” CISF said in a statement.
CISF personnel undergoing retirement can monitor the status of pension files in real time, ensuring transparency and accountability, it added.
Under the current system, service books are physically transferred between multiple CISF offices, which often leads to “delays and errors”. This is especially “problematic” for units in remote areas, according to a CISF spokesperson, as the process becomes more time-consuming and prone to errors.
The online portal was devised to put an end to this hassle, the spokesperson said.
The 1.80 lakh strong CISF is a central armed police force under the Union Home Ministry and guards 68 civil airports of the country apart from vital installations.
