For the first time, there are three Congress Gandhis - Rahul, Priyanka and Sonia - in Parliament
NEW DELHI: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took oath as an MP on Thursday Lok Sabha.
She took the oath while holding a copy of the Constitution and wore a white sari with a gold border.

With her oath as a Member of Parliament, it is the first time in history that three members of the House are present Nehru-Gandhi family (excluding Maneka Gandhi and Varun Gandhi) will be present in Parliament.
While Pryanka’s brother Rahul Gandhi is a Lok Sabha MP from Rae Bareli seat of Uttar Pradesh, her mother Sonia Gandhi is a Rajya Sabha MP.
Although the Nehru-Gandhi family has been active in electoral politics since independence, never before have three members of the family been together in Parliament.
In the recently held by-elections, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra won the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat by a margin of 4,10,931 votes, defeating Sathyan Mokeri of the Communist Party of India (CPI).
The Wayanad seat was previously held by Rahul Gandhi, who moved to Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh after being elected to the Lok Sabha from there in this year’s general elections.
The elections in Wayanad, a Congress stronghold, involve a three-way contest between Priyanka Gandhi, BJP’s Navya Haridas and CPI’s Sathyan Mokeri.
After receiving her election certificate, Priyanka Gandhi described it as a symbol of trust and shared values. She said on have chosen to continue this journey and build a better future for yourself.”
On November 23, she thanked the voters of Wayanad for their support and said on has been.” and that the person you have chosen to represent you understands your hopes and dreams and fights for you like one of your own. I look forward to being your voice in Parliament!”
