NEW DELHI: Former BJP MP Navneet Rana on Thursday hit out at Shiv Sena (UBT) and said party leaders remain upset irrespective of the parties they have entered into an alliance with. Sanjay Raut said the party leaders felt that “they should have gone solo. elections”.
However, Raut made it clear that his party would not leave MVA and such claims were just conjectures.
Raut was responding to party leader Ambadas Danve’s similar comment regarding the election results in which the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) faced a humiliating beating.
“Uddhav Thackeray’s party leaders say if they had fought alone, they would have gotten more seats. I think his party is always upset in an alliance. If it gets more seats by joining hands with the BJP, it will be upset and if it gets less seats then They also cannot digest the fact,” the BJP leader said.
She also expressed hope that Devendra Fadnavis would become the next chief minister of Maharashtra.
“Everyone has seen the dominant leadership style of Devendra Fadnavis in the year 2014. I hope he will be our chief minister,” Rana said.
Addressing a press conference in the national capital, Sanjay Raut said: “Don’t leave MVA. We are discussing. Karyakartas believed that we should have fought independently. These are just rumors. We fought in an MVA alliance in Lok Sabha and it was something big. to win such a big number.”
He also said that the alliance leaders were “capable” of taking decisions regarding the BMC elections.
“Why are you worried? Just now the results of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections have been announced… we will see, we know what to do. MVA leaders are in a position to take decisions regarding the BMC polls,” he said when asked about the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls.
The MVA, comprising the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT), Sharad Pawar’s NCP (SP) and the Congress, suffered an unprecedented defeat as it won only 46 of the 288 seats in the assembly.
