Supreme Court Collegium recommends Delhi HC CJ Manmohan as SC judge

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court Collegium led by CJI Sanjiv Khanna on Thursday unanimously recommended to the Union government to appoint Delhi HC Chief Justice Manmohan as SC judge.
SC, which has a sanctioned strength of 34 judges including the CJI, is currently functioning with 32 judges. Till a year ago, Delhi HC had four representations among SC judges, which has come down to one (CJI Khanna) with the resignation of Justices SR Bhat, Sanjay K Kaul and Hima Kohli.
The collegium met on Thursday afternoon and agreed to recommend the appointment of Justice Manmohan as SC judge, just 20 days before his retirement as HC judge on December 16, 2024. On his appointment as SC judge, Justice Manmohan would serve a tenure of have something more. than three years in the apex court.
