Bangladesh HC junkies calls for Iskcon ban, asks government to be vigilant | India News – Times of India
The court, comprising Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Debasish Roy Chowdhury, was informed by the Attorney General’s office that “necessary measures” had already been taken. The court expressed hope that the government would remain vigilant in ensuring law and order, including atrocities against minorities, especially Hindus.
“At this point, the situation does not warrant the intervention of the (high) court as the state is carrying out its work (on the case),” Justice Mahbub was quoted as saying by an HC spokesperson.
Shortly after the Supreme Court ruling, Iskcon again distanced itself from the arrested monk and made it clear that Das’ activities were “not representative” of the organization. Iskcon Bangladesh General secretary Charu Chandra Das Brahmachari said Chinmoy Krishna Das, along with Lilraj Gaur Das and Swatantra Gauranga Das, were expelled from Iskcon on October 3 on disciplinary grounds.
However, Iskcon KolkataVice President Radharamn Das said the jailed former office holder was still “a devotee and monk of Iskcon”.
He showed photos of Krishna devotees holding posters with the message: “We are not terrorists”, and the hashtag “BANgladesh, don’t ban Iskcon”.
