GUWAHATI: Schools and colleges in Manipur's Imphal Valley and Jiribam districts will reopen on Friday after a 13-day closure due to violence linked to the ongoing ethnic conflict in the state. The decision was made after appeals from six student organizations, Kangkan Kalita reports. The closure began on November 16 after the discovery of six bodies of women and children in the Barak River in Jiribam sparked protests and violence. The shutdown affected students and researchers alike, and the problems were exacerbated by frequent internet suspensions. The curfew has been relaxed to facilitate the reopening.
