‘We have become a laughing stock’: Dhankhar’s criticism leads to repeated disruption of the RS; watch video | India News – Times of India
Dhankhar slammed the Opposition MPs and accused them of ‘weaponizing’ the adjournment rule to disrupt the normal functioning of the House.
“Dear members, these issues have been raised repeatedly over the past week, with the result that we have already lost three days of work. The days that should have been captured by us for a public pose. There should have been a justification for our oath to perform our duties as expected,” Dhankar said.
“The loss of time, the loss of opportunity by not holding a Question Hour has caused us huge setbacks for the people at large. Now I have found members, and I call you to deep reflection. Article 267 is being weaponized as a mechanism of disruption to our normal work,” he added.
Dhankhar also accused the opposition MPs of setting a bad precedent and dishonoring the people of the country.
“There are very experienced members. This cannot be appreciated. I express my deep anguish. My absolute pain. We are setting a very bad precedent. We are dishonoring the people of this country. We are not living up to expectations,” Dhankhar said. said.
“Our actions are not aimed at people. They are directed against the absolute disgust of the public. We are drifting into irrelevance. People make fun of us. We have essentially become a laughing stock. I appeal to you. I appeal to you. Please,” he added.
Despite this, the Congress along with other opposition parties pushed for a debate, which eventually led to a day-long adjournment of the House of Representatives less than 15 minutes after the House began its proceedings.
Other notices under Article 267, which seeks to suspend the listed company to address urgent matters, include demands for discussions on ongoing violence in Manipur, clashes in UP’s Sambhal district and special assistance to the flood-affected Wayanad district in Kerala.
Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were suspended for the fifth day in a row amid uproar over the opposition’s demand for a discussion. Both Houses have been adjourned until Monday.
